We love Dr. Megan Hogue! She is bubbly and personable. As a new mom she is reassuring and very positive. She was the pediatrician who saw our daughter after birth and looking forward to having a long relationship with her as our daughter grows.

We were in San Antonio to pick up our beautiful adopted child. We needed to have a pediatrician evaluate him as we were here for so many days. A friend referred us to this practice and we were scheduled with Dr. Finklea.
He was amazing and really took the time to sit with us and answer all of our first time parent questions. He even gave us some friendly pointers and information we were not aware of. He really went above and beyond.
I also was impressed with his team. We needed a note to fly and it was emailed by Angela within a few hours. Their Billing Agent Sonia was also fast on helping us figure out the insurance.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my daughter has received her. Her pedi is Dr Benbow. I feel like I can talk to him, which is important as a first time mom. He’s down to earth and has a good sense of humor. I feel like he truly cares about my daughters health.

The first 6 months of my son’s life we went through 3 different horrible doctors around town our family friend referred us to Dr. Shelly McNair and we love her!!! She is very kind and a wonderful doctor. My son has a complex heart problem and she not once has seemed nervous or anything in that nature around him, like his previous doctors were. When my son had his 2^nd open heart surgery she would call the hospital and get updates on him. Every time
I have called about a medical question for my son they have always returned my call within a few hours. The nurses have always been very nice and very helpful to us.
The only complaint I have is that sometimes the front desk ladies are not very friendly, almost seem like they are too busy chatting with their fellow co-​workers to help

Dr. McNair is the best doctor ever! I am actually jealous of my daughter! She really spends time with your child to get to know them, and always answers all of my questions as a first time parent. She answers questions I didn’t even know I had. She never makes me feel rushed. That being said, they do tend to run behind, especially in the sick season, so schedule for earlier in the day. I give it just four stars because the front staff always seems like they hate their life and I can never hear them when they talk.

My children are seen by Dr. Austin, she is a great doctor. The office staff is friendly, you don’t have to worry about waiting a long time to be seen. We have never waited longer than 5 mins in the waiting room.

Horrible nurses and front desk stuff ghetto fabulous. Dirty lobby. Dr. Austin is great but never runs on time. The poor support stuff doesn’t help. Expect to be there awhile. They take you back pretty fast but you will be waiting once in the back. Dr Austin is the only reason we return.

I love Southwest Children’s Center. We’ve seen Dr. Cofer since my son was born. We moved to Austin and had a really good male doctor. So, when we moved back to San Antonio I decided to switch to Dr. Finklea for my son’s care. What a HUGE mistake. He gave me anxiety every time I left, and both times he seen my son when I knew he was sick, he misdiagnosed him. So, I would have to take my son back a few day later when he was worse than before, and then he was put on antibiotics by Dr. Grant. Dr. Grant is my go to doctor now whenever Dr. Cofer is not available. He’s great. However, I will never go back to Dr. Finklea again.

I’ve been taking my son here for two years and my duaghter for 1 year. I echo some of the other reviews on customer service/​friendliness. The desk staff and nurses are just not friendly or welcoming (though we did get a really nice nurse at our last visit, that is atypical). We originally saw Dr. Jones, but he was too formal. He didn’t engage the kids, and just did everything by the book and left. We switched to Dr. Austin, whom I like very much. She is much more engaging and takes time to talk to the patient and parents. You can tell she cares about taking time to understand the situation.
The office also needs a good scrubbing. The waiting room and patient rooms are dingy.

My son has been seeing Dr. Benbow since he was a newborn. He actually came to visit him every morning in the NICU where my son spent 5 days. It was a stressful situation, but he was always very reassuring and mindful of my needs too. This carried over to our visits after discharge”…are you getting sleep… do you have enough help??? any feelings of depression?” Rather than pushing formula when I was having issues with milk production, he referred us to the lactation center. When my son was in the ER he called the radiologist while we were in the office to discuss the X-​rays. He’s had his nurse Gloria call to check on my son after a sick visit. He has a good sense of humor and it is obvious he genuinely cares about your child. He does NOT stare at a computer screen the entire time as someone else mentioned on an earlier review.
My son has seen several of the other pediatricians for urgent care needs and they are all decent, some I prefer more than others. And yes, the pediatric providers and nurses often refer to parents as «mom» and «dad», but seriously that is not important. They all call my son by his name. I can say as a provider of adult patients it would be distracting having to remember husbands/​wives names or whom ever accompanies my patients. Also I have to disagree that this office is messy. I have never witnessed this and I am a neat freak who would take note of such things.

I am thrilled with Southwest Children’s Center. After a terrible experience at my first pediatrician with a 5 day old baby, I started taking my son to SWCC. Dr. Finklea is my son’s pediatrician and he is an amazing doctor. His visits are very thorough, taking his time to examine my son. He is very patient and thoughtful in listening to and answering my questions. The staff is also very friendly and the office clean. There is literally no wait time. Every time I’ve sat down in the waiting room they were already calling our name.
I think loving the practice you take your child to is critical to his health and wellness, and wouldn’t trust just anyone with my precious son. I would highly recommend this practice and Dr. Finklea to any concerned and responsible parents who are looking for a pediatrician in San Antonio.

After a year of unsuccessful pediatricians I called 210−22NURSE for referrals in my neighborhood in the medical center. I finally found a great team of professionals here. Not only are the phone operators helpful but they will patch you through to a nurse to confirm an appointment with their recommendations if you’re like me, and are sometimes unsure if an appointment is necessary.
There are a selection of doctors in the facility you can choose from. I picked a name that sounded cool, so we opted for Dr. Boylston. My daughter loves her.
We had a Saturday emergency call once and had the privilege to test out a different doctor who was equally great. Another time we had an emergency «squeeze in» appointment during the flu season and made an appointment with the soonest available doctor and she was great too! So I can honestly say this is a 5 star facility.
The great thing about SWCC is their availability. I take comfort in the fact they are open for ER appointments on weekends and if *worse case scenario* hospital stay is required they can directly transfer your child. Not to mention all the doctors on staff so you rarely have to wait or are denied having your child be seen (appointments are required).
SWCC makes the child and parents experience as painless as possible giving the children a play area (one for the sickly, one for the healthy) as well as cool Disney books once you’re in the patient rooms.

My boy has been going to Dr. Purnell at this practice since he was a few months old. He is now a teenager and we couldn’t be happier after all these years with their service and caring attitude. I would highly recommend it to any new parents, especially if you have little kids as you will be able to take them to this multi-​doctor practice for many years to come.
