Top notch facility. I’m just not a fan of religion for extreme profits. Just seems wrong taking such a large amount of money from families just to be a «member». Of course everyone knows it’s just a scam, they’re just too scared to admit it.

I’m a Southern California native and San Antonio newbie who fell in love with Summit Church by watching live stream in Ca. What keeps Summit unique? For starters Summit is the ONLYCHURCHINAMERICA that has an Indoor Double Decker Carousel, a Café where the pastries are made fresh and coffee that has been said to «Ruin all other coffees» because it’s the best coffee!

I moved away from San Antonio at the beginning of 2008 to Alaska and this was my home church my last 6 years there when it was still Eagle’s Nest Christian Fellowship off of Hwy 281. Pastor Rick is very bold in his sermons, yet encouraging, witty, relevant, and devoid of fire and brimstone. For those of us living in the real world and have in the past been part of legalistic and/or close-minded churches like myself, this is refreshing change. There were many wonderful people and friends we made there and Hillsong music they frequently played. For 4 stars instead of 5? The 2007 scandal with the mishandling of funds for personal use and the mass email his estranged daughter from his first marriage sent to staff members and church volunteers I found rather troubling. And a man I was friends with there had his reputation tarnished from behind the pulpit because he questioned and opposed the pastor about the mishandling of funds. This was a man that contributed a lot to the church with a ministry reaching out to boys without a father or father figure in their life.

I have been going here since I moved to San Antonio about a year and a half ago. I did try several places before I came here but this seem to be the best fit for me. The place is real nice the people are great I have recently started attending Bible study and getting into some of the prayer groups so far everything has been Great. Sometimes the music at the beginning of service is too loud but other than that I can’t say I’ve had much to complain about. I would definitely recommend trying this church out if you are looking for a place in San Antonio especially if you live up north.

A little shallow & too interested in the good life — emphasis on giving«in faith.» Enjoyed the music/praise.

Normally I wouldn’t delve into religion or the such on an outlet such as Unilocal but I feel its very much the exception to negative stereotypes associated with larger churches. Pastor Rick Godwin is void of fire and brimstone and fills his congregation with hope, faith and uses the Bible to uplift and motivate his people to live a bold, large life. Sunday service is always something new and different and I found this place through my g/f when I had lost all hope for a «good» church. They DON’T make you go upfront b/c you’re new, they DON’T ask you to devote your life to God during your first visit and they DON’T pass around the offering plate excessively. They DO however offer free daycare during services so parents can focus on the message without being distracted by the little ones. They also DO offer plenty of other services to the community such as marriage and family counseling at no cost. And they also put their money where their mouth is and they DO give to worthy causes outside of their own expansion and remodeling. The most recent example was when Pastor Rick invited the Watoto Church from Uganda to come and share their culture of song and dance with us and in return we donated more than $ 150,000 to their cause of healing their people one baby, child and young adult at a time. If you’re like me and you’d given up on finding a church that accepts you for who you are, doesn’t talk politics or condemn gays and genuinely tries to use God and the Bible to make you the best Christian you can possibly be, then give them a chance and you may be just as pleasantly surprised as I was.

I miss The Summit so much! My hubby and I both found common ground and loved the atmosphere and especially Pastor Rick’s sermons! Unfortunately we moved. I still listen to his sermons all the time. God Bless this church! :)

Summit Christian Center is an amazing church. The worship team is wonderful and they always get you up and moving. The message is always great and the people are very friendly. We usually go to the Saturday service at 5pm which they call«Saturday Night Live» it’s great because we have our whole Sunday for whatever. They have wonderful groups for anything and everything. They have a wonderful women’s ministry that meets every week and a great men’s ministry too. Once a year they have a women’s retreat called«Chosen» which is a weekend long service of just women. The men’s retreat is call«Ascend» and I’m not sure what happens? I bet it’s just as amazing. They always have great guest speakers at these retreats. Summit is just like a family. They have a wonderful children’s program and are lucky enough to have the old carousel from Central Park Mall. It’s a great place with lots of love to give. Come check it out!

Absolutely love this church! My parents never took my to church when I was growing up so I decided to start attending a church on my own one day. The minute I walked into Summit I fell in love and knew I was at home. Their staff is so friendly and very welcoming. Pastor Rick is hilarious and he always has a great message. They have three services; Saturday at 5pm, Sunday at 9am and 11am. They have tons of events going on all the time. They also have a men’s breakfast the first Saturday morning of every month. I really encourage you to try this church just one time!
