Remembered this restaurant from years ago. Food was great then. Could tell it was family owned and run. Waitresses were not very professional, but all nice. Went to new location(about 3 miles north of old location on San Pedro) today and couldn’t even finish the fajita plate(so dry sent it back) or steak plate. Tortillas super thin and small too. Will not return to this place. Only thing that resembles the original restaurant is the name.

DUMP. GROSS. YUCK. What else can I say? I ordered picodillo tacos here and the meat was bloody, I mean bloody like a fight scene in a zombie movie. The antiquated, dirty, dive has a special place in locals hearts for their breakfast tacos. Well… they are gross, disgusting pockets of dung. The tacos will make you run to Taco Bell. Trust me, don’t spend all day on the toilet. I told you so…

Had breakfast there today & it was great. Our waitress was friendly & attentive, the place is clean & bright. I had chilequiles which were excellent as were the home made tortillas. Will definitely go back to Taco Riendo.

This is for the amazing bean and cheese tacos! The beans have a great taste and the flour tortillas are real! More specifically, I had a bean and cheese taco with extra crispy bacon and it was perfection. The tortillas smelled and tasted like they were just made recently and right off the stove.

Really good food other than the owner I believe his name is Joe has the personality of a pet rock! My wife and I have been coming here on a regular basis for about 6 months now… and when you walk in he’s usually behind the counter at the register but we can’t even get a «hello» out of him. He can’t seem to keep any waitresses working here either probably due to the fact that he talks down to all his wait staff and embarrasses them in front of customers. Well I give them two stars based on their food only because it is very good and reasonably priced. The owner has to realize we’re in SA and Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen… so recognize your«regulars» and make them feel welcomed!

Best Mexican food in town. So good, it’s hard to choose what you are going to have. My favorite is the enchilada’s with carne guisada. Been going there riendo for over 5 years now and we go there at least one a week. Their caldo de pollo is wonderful as well!

This place was great! I was in town for business and my customers took me here. The total opposite of a corporate chain, Taco Riendo looks like a family run and unique operation. Lots of inexpensive authentic Mexican plates here. They have the basics right with great tasting chips, multiple salsas, fresh tortillas. Everything tasted very fresh. Service was snappy.

We didn’t have a very good experience here. After waiting forever, the waitress brought our food out and handed it to the table next to us as we watched. The two customers there were looking the food over, and one even pried open her tacos to inspect the insides. They then realized that it wasn’t their order. The waitress brought the food back behind the counter, where we could see her return the plates to the cook, who 5 seconds later handed them back to her to deliver to us. We asked to make sure that they weren’t the same tacos the other customers had pawed over, and she had some story about putting the order in twice that didn’t make much sense. Seconds later, the table next to us got their food. Given the slow service overall, we are pretty confident that we were given the very same tacos that had been gone over next to us. Pretty gross. The food tasted okay, although the egg-based tacos were a bit runny and soggy. We won’t be back here, and even if we hadn’t been through the recycled taco fiasco the slow service put us off. The food isn’t any better than Tommy’s two doors down, which is also faster and friendlier.

You can’t judge a book by its cover. On the outside this place is a dive. Something you would find on a back street on the south side. The great thing is that… it’s not on the south side. It’s on one of the busiest streets in San Antonio. Mind you the neighborhood isn’t the best but it’s nothing dangerous. Plus this place isn’t open until the wee hours of the morning. A friend of mine took me here for lunch one day and it was fantastic. You could say that this is another Tex-Mex place but it’s not that. They have great food that’s not the typical tacos and enchiladas plates. The prices are great for the amount of food you get as well. The place can get pretty packed around lunch time and on the weekends but that shouldn’t deter you from trying it out. I think you’ll love it.

I grew up in San Antonio and I have been to many taco houses. This is seriously the best. Don’t be put off by the outside or the area. And I really don’t think it is «sketchy» at all. Now if this was on the west side… that would be a different story. The service is great and the prices are amazing. They usually have daily specials on the board too. The chips and salsa are free after 11am. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is all good. But you can’t go wrong with the BIg Ed’s taco on corn(egg, potato, bacon, and cheese) or a bean and cheese. For lunch, try the enchiladas or the tortilla soup. I will miss this place!

The first time I went to Taco Riendo with a co-worker I was put-off, to say the least. The surrounding neighborhood looks sketchy and the restaurant is a dive. If the food tasted the way the place looked, I’d definitely be giving it 1 star. Fortunately, that isn’t even remotely the case. The enchiladas are absolutely fantastic, and the price can’t be beaten. You’ll seriously walk away absolutely stuffed for under $ 6. Also, the chips and salsa are free, and really quite good. I have a friend who will strongly attest to the quality of their chicken mole as well, if that’s your thing.
