Taqueria Vallarta No 7

The service was good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The chips and salsa are fresh and tasty.
I had «steak» fajitas and my wife had a chicken burrito. Both our entrees were full of fatty chewy meat. We did not complain about the food. The beans and rice were good
This was a disappointing last meal for the two of us on our last day in San Antonio. We do not recommend eating here. I chose this eatery because it had a four star rating on Google, also because it was near JBSA on our way back to our hotel. 4 stars is an undeserved rating. I give one star. The bathrooms were scary dirty. The men’s room had gang graffiti all over the walls.

I had the green enchilada plate. It was delicious. Great tex-​mex at an affordable rate. Service was quick and friendly.

Way sketchy neighborhood. Way too many bars on the windows.
Food is ok but it doesn’t overcome the environment.

Ok. The guac and salsa & beans & rice & beans were on par with every other Tex Mex place. The steak in the tacos and fajitas was horrible. Very grizzled and disappointing. Just meh.

Came here for lunch. The lunch menu is kind of expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in town. The salsa they serve with the chips is awful. I had the chicken fajitas plate. It was average. I doubt I’ll ever come back because there’s a much better (and cheaper) Mexican place down the street called Taco Jalisco.

This is still a pretty good restaurant to come to. Service is much better. Food quality is getting better. The thing they still have to work on is their tortillas. But any Mexican restaurant that makes tortillas on a machine instead of by hand is never (maybe close) going to get 5stars.

Food was okay, but the service rocked. The staff brought in a homeless guy and fed him on the house. It showed that there are still good people in the world.

The chips taste fine but the brown salsa is very bland. The waitress was friendly and recommended the carne asada for me to try. The carne asada is full of flavor and its a large portion plate. The plate I was served is chipped. As far as atmosphere, there is a tv that plays Spanish soap operas but it’s more meant for the staff because it’s too far and small for customers to see. No music playing but there is a centrally located jukebox. Glad I came here for lunch, this place is perfectly average.

Breakfast until noon! Great breakfast taco (2 for $ 1.15 each) is plenty. Extensive lunch and dinner menu. It’s a long way, figuratively, from here to the River but a great, real San Antonio place. Not a tourist to be seen.

Best tacos I’ve had in a long time. Nobody left a bit of their food on the plate. Thanks San Antonio.

Loved this place!!! I had the #32 street tacos and a large bowl of menudo. It was delish, and the service was good. Food came out quickly and the staff seemed to have their stuff together.

Enchiladas Verdes (#13) — enchies themselves were ok, but the Spanish rice was so old/​overcooked some rice grains were burnt, all the rice was kind of hard, and the 2 peas in it were starting to get dehydrated. It was also way over-​salted. The refried beans looked and tasted like they had been sitting on the plate for hours.
Chicken Fried Steak– I know, but it was ordered. My friend said the gravy was tasteless and she felt the fries had been taken from a bag in the freezer and popped in a microwave instead of baked or fried, and that they were gross. The chicken fried steak was so bad she wouldn’t even eat half.
Would not go back.

Wow this place is GREAT!!! The service is phenomenal. I came here on 3 different occasions since I was in Texas for Air Force Graduation weekend. This restaurant was near my hotel and thanks to other Unilocalers I read good reviews about this place. Of course Taqueria Vallarta did not disappoint. Some of the plates we ordered during the three days were: the Menudo soup (YUM), enchiladas verdes, flautas, the steak, mini taquitos, Burrito and of course the delicious Margaritas. Please give this place a try. I’m from New York and this is real authentic Mexican food that I will never find in NY. The waitresses are great and super friendly. Oh and the prices are excellent… complared to NY the food is great quality at an even better price. I will post pictures soon. I wish I was having this for dinner to night, lol.

Great Mexican food. Do not let the exterior of the building fool you. They have an extensive menu, and the food was great. You get what you pay for.

We come here quite often because it’s inexpensive and has tasty food. The need fajitas are tender and tasty. My hubby loves the mini taquitos. It reminds him of his hometown in the Valley. The asada for the taquitos is flavorful. The beans have a homemade taste to the as well. A fave of my 4 year old are the bean and cheese nachos. The cheese gets smooth and melty. They also run a $.99 taco special all week until 12pm, which is great for late risers like us!

Really good and cheap Mexican food. I had the carnitas which came with beans, rice, guac, and pico de gallo along with tortillas. The pound of pork was tender but a little bland but drowned with their roasted hot sauce it was yummy. At only $ 7 it was a steal. Their breakfast specials are also really cheap, with Juevos Rancheros being less than $ 5. The ambience is a little ghetto but the food is good and service was good.
