night manager rude does not work to solve incorrect orders, says orders were correct, had to take pictures of plates. orders are wrong all of the time. They need management overhaul at this location!

Service could be better but food is always on point and consistent. I come here about once a week.

Typical mexican resturant breakfast. Runny eggs mixed with tons of cheese to mask your disgust for what you are eating. Sad attempt at breakfast. Lunch at times is ok. Again it’s the same grool you get elsewhere but it’s better elsewhere. Do yourself a favor try it… then don’t come back.

Foods good but the customer service is absolutely terrible. I’ve came here twice and the bad service never fails. You can never find your waitress, they don’t check on you, and they give obvious attitude when you ask for help. Not welcoming at all.

There’s nothing on this menu I’ve ever not liked… Tortillas, Pancakes, Huevos, tacos, barbacoa, they have it all and they’ve got it down. My family and I come here on a regular(4 – 5 times a month mainly wkends). Service is always polite and food is always served on the fly… see yal next sat. morning…

Got a huevos ranchero plate. Not much to comment on here. Just didn’t like the potatoes and the beans were a little bland but overall ok. I will say I did like the ranchero sauce! They sauté the tomato and onion instead of leaving it crunchy and the sauce wasn’t think, more of a thin sauce. Never had it that way before but I liked it better than any other ranchero sauce I’ve had. Staff was friendly.

An assortment bunch of breakfast foods from pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon plates to menudo, caldo, chiliquiles, barbacoa, and much more mexican food. Tortillas are freshly made both corn and flour. Coffee is hot and plentiful and very well roasted. Highly recommended!

Went to the café for breakfast. The server was very polite and professional. I was there with two other people. I had a bean and cheese with bacon taco, and a barbacoa taco. The barbacoa was really good. The server confirmed it is made in house. The bean and cheese was lacking salt and this is why I did not go 5 stars. I would go here again for breakfast.

Simply said the food is good, the prices fair, and the atmosphere is casual. My experience is limited to the day time while it was at a third of capacity, so I’ll describe my impression thusly… Service was friendly and prompt. Drinks filled immediately and the server was attentive. Lighting ok, mostly sunlight from glass windows. Chairs and tables are all wood. The restroom is respectable. I brought my own drink in and received no guff about it, which was very nice. The corn tortillas are awesome as are the flour but I personally think a great house made corn tortilla is tougher to find. The salsas are the usual red and green variety and IMHO gringo hot, which is NOT an insult just the best way to describe them. My one minor criticism is the egg plate upcharge(currently avian flu has forced the cost of eggs to go up) but other than than it’s all good.

I will never go back to this Thousand Oaks Café. The lunchtime service was absolutely dreadful — we sat ourselves and nobody greeted us or even acknowledged us for almost 10 minutes. I had to walk over to the bar and ask for someone to take our drink orders. Not only this, but all the waitresses were moving at a glacial pace and appeared undeniably apathetic about their jobs. No smiles, no greetings, took forever to bring us anything we asked for. It was extremely unpleasant. The food was pretty good as far as TeX Mex goes, but due to the terrible service we almost walked out a few times because we were not sure if anyone would even bother bringing us our food or drink refills. We were even charged extra for asking for a To-Go box. I recommend going to Thousand Oaks Café off of Thousand oaks street, much more authentic and really great service over there year after year. Do not waste your money at this sad excuse for a restaurant, unless they decide to hire people who truly care about customer service.

Friendly staff, cheap prices and amazing food! What more could you ask for? I’m just sad I’m only in the area for vacation but will definitely come here to eat again next time. They even have waffles and pancakes but I got the chilaquiles con chorizo with fresh flour tortillas and beans potatoes. Perfect portions to fill you up.

Just took the family here for a quick dinner. Enchiladas and fajita meat were good and my daughter enjoyed the carne guisada plate. Not one of my favorite mexican places but it’s close home and food is usually on point. Service was a bit slow and were to busy horsing around by the counter. Still can’t believe they charge for chips and salsa!

I like this place. It is close to my house with friendly service. The food is good. Great enchiladas and chicken fajita salad is delicious. Food comes out slowly but is worth the wait. I drove through the drive through one night at 8:50 pm and they wouldn’t serve me though they say they close at 9pm and the«Open» neon light was on. Not cool. Not sure why the drive through is always dark but they recognize you if you walk in and sit or order takeout.

So, this San Antonio institution is now charging for chips and salsa!!! Seriously, Thousand Oaks Café? I guess we’ll be eating at the other four hundred Mexican restaurants in San Antonio from now on…

I was working nearby today and stopped in for a quick lunch. It is a little hard to find since it is not located on Thousand Oaks. I walked in and got seated quickly. The waitress came very fast with the menu and asked if I wanted chips & salsa, which she brought right out. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. The waitress asked if I would like tortillas with the meal — of course:) The chips & salsa brought the rating down. The cheese enchiladas were very good, & so were the beans. The rice was just OK. The tortillas were really good also(both corn & flour). I’m not sure why all the low ratings for this place as I really enjoyed it. I will have to go back to see if today was typical for them.

Try the Asada omelette, one of the best omelettes I’ve ever eaten. And the staff is excellent.
