Oh my goodness! Wired designs is wonderful! I am a klutz, I am not a crafty person, I have zero design genes within me. If Wired designs can teach me to make something as cool as enameled jewelry, they can teach ANYONE!!! Not only do you learn cool new skills, but the teachers there make it so much fun, and you really get to relax and bond with the other students. I(the least creative girl in the world) can’t wait to take more classes with them.

Wired Designs encourages the budding glass or jewelry-making artist in all of us. They make it so easy, even someone as craft-inhibited(it’s a disability, really) as myself can consider learning a new skill. This shop, located in Artisan Alley, is half art gallery and half workshop, with items on display ranging from huge, decorative plates to tiny, folksy glass necklaces. Wired Designs offers classes in everything from stained glass to metal smithing and glass blowing. Class prices range from around $ 100 for beginners all the way up to $ 800 for pros. Supplies and step-by-step instruction is provided. The lady in the shop when we came in told us that much of the first class is learning about the equipment and general safety. After that, the real fun begins. The store also has plenty of items to purchase, from necklaces to glass sculptures. Even though all of those items were neat, my favorite thing to look at was the glass sticks that the art was created from. Wired Designs offers a little haven for people looking to get away from the bustle of life and spend some quality time with a blow torch. While I’m not usually willing to pay to learn a craft, this place had enough charm to lure even me in. Now I just have to figure out how to drop the hint of what I want for Christmas to my husband…
