Update: The owner contacted me and took the time to look over what had happened. Must say it’s good to know they are listening. 5 stars for the food and 1 star for service. Juan Pollo always has good food, but the service is just not there. We ordered $ 300 worth of food and we were treated as if they did us a favor. We usually go to the location on highland, and happened to order from the 5th street location, and will not return. Just remember, without the customer, you are an empty building.

Awesome roasted chicken. Lunch/dinner specials come with sides & a drink. Love the potato salad at Juan Pollo. Workers are super friendly & were always working to keep the place clean.

I visited this location in search of healthy food. Ordered a dinner special was told that it included a soda and that I would be charged for it whether I wanted it or not. I was offered bottled water but I don’t drink bottled water. I would have chosen to have a cup of water.

Great place, the best value for lunch or dinner. The chicken is amazing and the potato salad is the best I have ever had. The owner Albert and his partner are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. Albert is a pioneer and assist to the chicken fast food industry, just wish there were more Juan pollos in this country so everyone can experience the difference between chicken at el pollo loco and chicken at Juan Pollo.

I’ve got a lot of respect for Albert Okura. He was in the kitchen, chopping chicken with the rest of his employees. He’s got his book for sale, which tells you step-by-step how to make his delicious chicken. But we all know that you’re probably not going to go home and make it, even if you know how. A friend told me that Albert wanted Golden Arches in front of one of his restaurants. When my friend protested saying that was the symbol of McDonald’s, Albert said, «Yeah, and when McDonald’s sues me, I’ll get a lot of free publicity.» I think that he’s a marketing genius. I have to admit, I love this chicken. I get the half chicken with hot salsa and no tortillas. I’m trying to go low carb, but I’ve had all of the sides and they’re all good. The skin is the best part, but the whole chicken is juicy and delectable. The interior of this location has a banquet room, kiddie rides, video games, and the ubiquitous pictures of supporters of Juan Pollo. There’s even a free Route 66 Museum in the back.

Where do I start? The food is always cooked to perfection and they never disappoint! Ordered the family pack for me and the fam which comes with everything rice, beans, tortillas, salsa and the best potato salad I ever tasted, hands down! Staff was great and treated us like family we will DEFINATELY be back. PS: BESTCHICKENSKINAROUNDTHEYJUSTKILLEDKFCINMYOPINION!

Food: 4 stars. Chicken is great. Sides are simple but good. Service: 1 star. Went there today and the girl behind the counters seemed disinterested. Not friendly at all. Did not welcome me or the person after. Expected us to just walk up and start places our order. Is a «may I take your order?» «Do you have any questions?». Nothing. Food is reasonably priced, but nothing is worth putting up with poor service. Overall, Juan Pollo seems to be stuck in time. The 90s to be exact. Their restaurants are outdated. Lots of potential, but not much desire to do anything with it I suppose.

I called ahead and asked if they took phone orders, the woman said«yes» so I ordered my food as I was on my way. When I got there my order was never entered it was written on a piece of paper! So I asked«it was pointless to call my order in?» The cashier said«yeah». The food is always good but the service was poor tonight.

I’m pretty shocked by the positive reviews. This chicken is below average. The people who reviewed must not have ever had good chicken. But it makes sense considering the location. The place was dirty, food was meh and we saw employees getting high in the parking lot when we left. I was just looking for somewhere to grab some quick grub on a road trip, but I made a mistake.

Came here the other night. Ordered 4 dinner specials. First off, the rice was hard, one of the chicken legs looked like someone took a bite out of it. In one of the other meals there was a hair. Asked for double rice because none of us wanted beans… They gave us beans anyway with the tiny rice and potato salad. We also asked for flower tortillas and we got corn… Of course we didn’t notice this until we got all the way home ‘in rialto’, we didn’t want to make the trip back to Juan Pollo for them to fix the mistakes. Bunch off teens working there that need to get it together. Cursing while talking to each other and ignoring the customers when they are right in front of them. They have no customer service skills whatsoever.

Pretty good chicken. Better than the crazy chicken! Great deals on the family meals. You get plenty of food for the amount you pay. Enjoy!

You wouldn’t know it, but their potato salad is the best. Burritos are so so, so stick with the pieces of chicken, potato salad, and a pina whip and you’ll be solid.

I love the chicken, rice, and potatoe salad. The rotisserie keeps the chicken nice and moist. I was especially surprised to discover that my kids like the food to. The $ 5 lunch special includes a drink. That’s a price that can’t be beat by the big fast food chains. If your anything like me, I’m always looking for healthy alternatives to McDonalds and Burger King. The employees are really nice to. It probably has something to do with the owner and the general manager always being at the restaurant. The general manager is really nice and she always spends a few minutes to say hi. I like that kind of customer service.

The great thing about Juan Pollo is their rotisserie chicken. That’s their specialty and they’re sticking to it. Their lunch special consists of 2 pieces of chicken, 2 sides — white seasoned rice & potato salad, and a drink; it is $ 4.99. Their chicken is delicious! Plenty of flavor and quite juicy. I had the nacho supreme for $ 3.99 and you won’t be disappointed. They put more chicken in there than chips. They give you the salsa, cheese & beans separately for you to dump on the chips & chicken. I think that the nachos are a better deal than the lunch special. The best thing about Juan Pollo: the owner & founder, Albert Okura. We met him at the McDonald’s museum in San Bernardino since he is the owner. Since we were hungry, we asked him where the nearest Juan Pollo was and he gave us directions. After we went to this location, he came by and spent some time with us. He even gave us some memorabilia! The guy is just a nice down to earth guy who loves his business with a passion. You just can’t help saying nice things about him. I’m happy to have met the guy and hope Juan Pollo expands to the west side!

Unlike some of the Juan Pollo locations, this place is HUGE! And according to their website, it was the second store that they opened. Granted, it’s not in the best part of town, but it seemed pretty safe during lunch hour, even more so when a couple of police officers pulled in for lunch. For the uninitiated, this is the chicken you turn to when you’ve grown tired of the other nationally advertised chicken chain. Actually, those damn commercials with that guy on suave overdrive serve only to keep me away. They have great bargains on various meals: lunch, dinner, etc. For example, I paid $ 5 and some change for a Lunch Special, which included 2 pieces of chicken, a side of rice, a side of potato salad, my choice of tortillas(corn or flour) and my choice of salsa(hot or mild). And a medium size drink. You cannot go wrong with that!
