Awesome green wet burritos sauce is home made with so much flavor, and they hook you up with free guacamole, this ain’t chipotle lol.

If your looking for an exceptional taco this is the place, I’ve been searching long and hard and to be honest I only come here when I want tacos now but you must come on Friday and Saturday only from 4pm to close that’s when they have their home made tortillas

This is an absolute joke of an establishment. I’ve currently been waiting over 20 minutes for 2 tacos and a quesadilla. I normally find reviews like this to be annoying, but this truly is just pathetic. It’s Halloween, and there are literally 7 people here, and only 1 order in front of mine. At this point I’m fairly certain that they forgot about my order, so I decided to ask. I was told that my order«takes time» and it will be ready when it’s ready. Update: Someone else showed up and ordered 3 tacos, and received them in about 5 minutes. I’m not sure what the deal with my food is, but clearly something wrong. Fortunately for this restaurants sake, Unilocal requires that I leave at least 1 Star. They’re deserved of none, and should really evaluate the way they speak and treat their customers. This place is pathetic, and I hope you guys have better luck with them than I do…

Picked my Son up from school and first thing he said to me was«Hey Dad, I’m hungry.» I was too so we headed up Mt. Vernon, passing all the places we have eaten at recently. We passed this spot, and I said, «I haven’t been here in years, but I remember them having some good tacos. Have I ever brought you here?» «I don’t think so.» He replied, so I swung into the parking lot. I told him about the last time I came here, that a Chihuahua was completely run over by a truck in the street right in front, and that I hadn’t been back since. Got out and walked to the window to order. The Lady was nice enough, and was patient with my Son, who seemed to be overwhelmed by the menu. Maybe he was just hungry and wanted to eat everything. Who knows? Ordered our food and sat in the back. The Lady soon came out with our botelas of Coke and Sprite. The food came out about 5 minutes later. When I ordered the Tripas tacos, then Lady asked me if I wanted them«hard» or «soft». I assumed she meant the tortilla, so I told her«One of each.» When I got them, it was obvious she meant the tripas themselves. I have never been offered any options on how I want my tripitas cooked before. It was awesome! The«hard» ones were deep-fried, and tasted really good at first, but gave me an aftertaste like burnt bacon. Still ate it. The other taco de tripas was cooked on the stove. It was chewy, with a little char on it, and it was GREAT! My Son agreed, as he got two for himself as well. I also got a Cabeza taco. REALLY good taco, the meat was perfect, and went really well with the tortilla they serve here. Loads of flavor, and the grease from the meat paired really well with the tortillas they serve the tacos on. They slightly grill the tortillas here in butter, which gives it a little char, buttery flavor, and a killer texture combination. I had a Carne Asada taco, and it wasn’t that great. The meat is flavorless and spongy. My Son ordered a Carne Asada burrito with the intention of sharing it with me. I’m glad he did. The burrito was significantly better than the taco. Not because the carne was any better, but because the beans, cheese, and rice inside made it better. The flour tortilla ALSO had that buttery flavor I love, so I recommend the Carne Asada burrito here, but not the taco. Never thought I would say such a thing. They serve your food with red sauce, green sauce, and a spicy guacatillo/pico de gallo con nopalito hybrid. The red sauce is hot! Drip it on your food, or your going to be eating all your radishes really quick! The green sauce is tasty with a little heat. Recommended for the pork products. The Guacatillo hybrid is excellent! I liked it so much, I put a little but of it on each bite. Yum! There are random signs posted up all over the outdoor patio area. «If you smell a nasty smell, it isn’t us; its a company next to the swap meet.» The locals know this, but I thought it was funny that they put up the sign. The smell is from a place a block away that I believe recycles or disposes of used lard, grease, and fat. It stinks up the swap meet on the regular. Another sign says to watch your kids, and that they aren’t responsible for any injuries if you kids fall. Fair enough. A third sign says«No outside drinks» so if you think your going to go to the market right next door and get cheaper drinks(something I sometimes do), don’t expect to eat here. These Ladies are nice, but its obvious that they don’t put up with pendejos here, so have respect. I will be back, especially for the Cabeza… and I mean the meat. This is one«hole-in-the-wall» I am willing to crawl into.

The absolute best authentic mexican food in SB. Took a friend there once and she was nervous because it looked like a bathroom to her LOL the smell doesn’t help either, but after she ate she was hooked like me. I go strictly for their chicken enchiladas plate, i guess 8.00 $ is reasonable. The ladys arent always happy sometimes i think because i dont speak fluent spanish. Whatever the case, great food. I dream of taking them out of the hood and investing in their recipes. Haha.

Making the a.m. drive into work is always so boring. To motivate myself, I’ll find alternate routes to take into the office. As I’m driving down Mount Vernon something catches my eye which wakes me up faster than a double shot espresso… TEJUINO!!! That rare Mexican beverage which is quite possibly my favorite has found its way to San Bernardino and within a quick drive from my office. Could it be? No longer would I be denied this«drink of the gods»(seriously, that’s what Mexicans refer to it as) for failure to venture all the way to Los Angeles for it. I made my way to the office(as Ricos Tacos De Jalisco was closed at the time) but once I sat down at my desk, all I could think of was«quitting time» so I could make my way back and slurp down this strange beverage. Tejuino, for those of you who don’t know what it is or have never had it, is a beverage made from fermented(for acidity not alcohol) masa(corn dough/tamale and tortilla making stuff), piloncillo(a Mexican brown sugar), lime and rock salt. The texture is slightly thicker than milk but thinner than a milkshake(though the taste is nothing like the two). As you would imagine, based upon the ingredients, the taste starts off slightly sweet, moves straight into salty and has a sour aftertaste(unless you’re fortunate to get a few little rock salt pebbles at the end of your sip, which finishes the drink off salty again). I think this drink is an absolute delight, though I’m the only one besides my father in my family who likes this drink and I have yet to find a friend to share in my affinity for it. In fact, a few of my friends refer to it as «that nasty drink». My rating of this place is based upon the Tejuino alone. I’ve had better Tejuino(my favorite in America so far) in Lincoln Heights(Los Angeles) at a place called Rico Tejuino Los Reyes. To be fair, «Los Reyes» adds a scoop of lime sorbet to the drink which is what sets it apart from all other Tejuino(although this may not be the traditional method, it’s a definite improvement on the original). I’ll be back to try the food(and another Tejuino, of course) and update my rating after that.

These tacos are very good. Nice hole in the wall place. I’m gonna be honest, 1.99 per taco is a little too much for me. Thats why i could only do 3 stars. They are good but the price is too high. I got 14 tacos for me and my bf and it came out to 30 $. They have a tasty guacamole salsa for the tacos. I am more traditional I only put cilantro onions and salsa on my tacos but these tacos are just not the same without the little avocado salsa or whatever it is. Definitely makes them special. Again good place, the owner is nice the ladies are a bit rude. BTW weekends are fresh handmade tortillas !! Hope this helps!

This place has the best tacos de asada & horchata! I’m surprised I am the first review. They have this guacamole Chile stuff, pretty bomb.
