Been coming here for at least seven years. This past three years the quality of food and service is slowly but surely declining. This is the third time in a month I’ve been here and waited ten minutes for the SUSHIBOAT to have a variety of platters. Tonight I figured it out. They’ve enhanced their special roll menu so it seems holding off on the variety of the Sushi Boat forces the customer to order the pricier items on the sushi menu. Now I understand why the amount of guests have declined. Ordered a salmon and tempura bento tonight. OMG! The salmon piece was not only a PIECE but PAPERTHINTOO. The Tempura was greasy. I’m sorry I hope they read this. They are losing me as a customer. My bento dinner is done and the boat still has not been replenished with new items. It’s sad.

Food is really good. I always get baked mussels, the monster roll, crunch roll, and mijouri special. Very friendly staff, but not the most helpful and on the slow side(understaffed). I rarely get anything off the boat, however, I just order the rolls I want.

Their prices are way to high for their quality of sushi! If you want better quality and for a cheaper price! Go to San Mateos old town sushi!

One star for customer service. I got a nice friendly hello. A table and menu to decide what I wanted to take out. And everyone was smiling. However, the sushi and dumplings were beyond disgusting. I’m getting grossed out chewing it. And it was expensive $ 15. The dumpling taste like smooshed chewed food fried up. Yuck. Just nasty.

We love this place! Typically we call 15 minutes in advance, pick it up and eat at home. It’s always ready on time. The staff is friendly and everything is fresh. Like I said. We love this place. Every once in awhile we do eat inside and eat from the boats. They always great you and treat you like family.

Should of known when we walked in on a Sat at lunchtime and only one person was there. As someone already mentioned, something was up with their imitation crab. It was a mushy mess of yucky. Decided to order a fresh roll since well, there was nothing but empty wood floating around… Sushi boat without the sushi. Anyway, that was off too. I was praying I wouldn’t get food poisoning. What a disappointment.

I waited a few years, gave it another chance! I should of went with my gut when I gave up on this place in 2012. The seaweed was rubbery! The muscles were cold and bad tasting. The imitation crab they have is just not right? I definitely didn’t trust the sushi on the boats under Saran Wrap. You know it was probably yesterday’s. So I ordered a special roll to be made… it was fair at best!!! They must of painted because the place smelled so potent that my meal was ruined. I wish the original owners were still around.

I’ve been to many sushi places all over the world and this place isn’t the fanciest in the world but it is high quality with exceptionally great service! This is my #1 go to sushi place in the Bay Area! Love it They are so friendly it’s unbelievable

I come to eat good sushi at least one a month. It is a clean resultant, owned by very nice people. Good price for the quality of creative sushi rolls.

My favorite sushi boat place only because they almost always have my favorites moving along the sushi boats(lion king roll, california roll, seaweed salad, dragon roll). This is the ONLY place I like lion king rolls. It’s not drowned in whatever sauce it is(spicy mayo, maybe?) they place on top like other places. I’m not very adventurous when it comes to sushi. I don’t like raw fish. I’ve tried it before but it’s just not something I could get used to or crave. I prefer sticking to things that are cooked and have salmon, spider crab, crab, eel, or shrimp tempura. The owners are super nice, always greeting you upon entry. They serve green tea and water upon request. And sometimes after your meal, they give you a scoop of green tea ice cream! I only gave this place a four stars because sometimes they don’t have anything available on the sushi boats or the sushi has been on the boats way too long that it’s too cold(this is prolly why at they’re trying to avoid). Their bento boxes are also not that great either. I’d go to Akagi or Sunny Sushi for that!

The prices are on the side: $ 12.95 i think for the salmon bento, it comes with 3 gyoza, 3 california roll and a small fillet of salmon. No miso soup. I’ve had wayy better food for way better price.(In J-town SF too!) Portions are small for the price I paid. –the ladies are extremely nice. Oh and the sushi boats were mostly empty. If they had 15 boats, only 5 boats had items which were Edamame, seaweed salad, tempura roll, california roll, baked mussel. Would I come back? Hmm. If I was really craving Japanese food and didnt feel like driving to SF theb maybe.

Great customer service but if that’s all you’re looking for then sure go here. The food was terrible not worth the calories. It wasn’t fresh the rolls were falling apart. The edamame was gross and slimy because it was probably old. The sauces they had were ugh. I will never come here again. I love salmon and they have a salmon lovers roll. Looked like an avocado lovers roll to me.

Sushi boats. Clean restaurant. Standard sushi rolls. Plenty of parking. Decently priced.

You should know right out of the gate that I am NOT a sushi connoisseur. Even though I eat the stuff on the regular, my standards are… well, pretty standard. I am not an omakase girl. So, if I give a 1-star review to a sushi place, you should probably take note. These are my only must-haves: 1. I don’t have to wait too long for it 2. It tastes decent 3. It doesn’t cost a lot 4. It doesn’t make me sick I’m even willing to put up with rudeness as long as these core requirements are met. My kid and I used to come here fairly regularly until about a year ago. The ladies who work here have always been super-nice to us so that made us willing to overlook certain negatives. Finally, though, the perpetually empty boats got annoying so we started going elsewhere. What’s the point of floating those things around and around and around if you’re not going to populate them? Just take them out and call yourself a regular sushi bar. Keep in mind that we were always there during peak times like Friday/Saturday night or the weekday lunch rush; if the boats weren’t being enjoyed then, when were they? We were in the area so we stopped in today. The place was bustling with lunchtime traffic yet the boats were even emptier than we remembered. We sat at the bar anyhow and proceeded to order our favorites directly from the waitress. Now, the sushi-making dude has always been dour but in the past we shrugged it off. Today, however, he looked downright pissed at having to prepare our salmon nigiri. PISSED. As in, he looked at us as though we had tracked in dog poop then angrily proceeded to prepare our order. Something else to keep in mind is that I tip like a mofo everywhere I go. He(and the ladies) clearly acknowledged and recognized me when I came in SOWHYISHEMADATME??? I’m no bum. We were there for close to an hour and not once was anything added to the boats even though several other parties of 2+ filtered in and out of the bar. Not so much as a stinkin’ California roll was floated out. I think I understand now why most of the patrons chose tables. WHYDOYOUINSISTONTHEBOATS? JUSTCOVERTHEMUPALREADY. The 1 star is for the utterly tasteless and flaccid ikura, the funky-tasting hotate, the sushi-maker dude’s nasty attitude, and the empty boats. Also, things looked sticky and dirty and the tea was essentially brown water. Sorry, but the nice ladies are no longer enough to make up for this mess.

Went here for lunch and was very disappointed. I arrived around 12:30pm looking forward to the selection of sushi on the little boats that go round and round. Well, I sat at the sushi bar and the boats were pretty much empty. So many empty gaps and the sushi that was available didn’t look appetizing at all. I thought I could come in here for a quick sushi break but that didn’t happen. I ended up ordering a couple rolls off the menu. It was ok nothing special. As for the atmosphere, it looked like it needs a remodel or something. It was dark and drab. The server was nice but she wasn’t very attentive.

Love me some sushi! I love a good sushi boat place. The sushi was nice and fresh, tasted good, and the sushi chef was making it right in front of me. I also had a bento box with beef teriyaki. It also had Gyoza(like a pot sticker) a salad, 6 piece California roll and a bowl of rice. All for about $ 10. Great deal

If you are into slow service, a forgetful waitress and empty sushi boats, then this is definitely the place to be. I can’t rate the food because it has been 20 minutes and there still isn’t any sushi on the boats. Broke down and ordered from the menu. Came out really quickly because it must have come out of the fridge. It was cold.

There’s something about rotating sushi places that keeps me coming back. I’ve come to not expect much from them, and perhaps it’s that expected level of mediocrity. And the fact that you can grab food as soon as you sit down. Nothing’s going to be especially amazing, so I can go with a friend and have a chuckle over the dishes without having to worry too much about pomp and spectacles of cookery and presentation. I enjoyed rotating sushi so much when I was living in Japan, but I’ve learned not to expect the same treatment across the pond. This must be the only rotating sushi place in San Bruno, so I had to check it out. Usually when I come, there are a few other people sitting at the counter and a few dishes going around on the boats, but not much. What’s usually going around is American fusion-type rolls, or maybe some gyoza or shumai. You can freely order from the waitresses or the sushi chefs behind the counter, and whatever you come to you comes within a few minutes. The quality of the fish is hit-or-miss. The ama ebi I had was succulent, sweet, and plump. Perfect! The uni wasn’t quite as fresh. The shari rice is subtly flavored and doesn’t fall apart. I haven’t tried the fusion rolls here so I can’t really comment. The deep-fried gyoza, despite probably coming from a package, still manages to retain its crispiness after sitting on a boat for who-knows-how-many revolutions. I feel like the prices are a bit high for what you get, but I’ll still support Mijouri. I’ll probably come out again when I’m craving fast sushi and I’m in the area.
