Back Nine Greens San Francisco Showroom

Found Back Nine through a Google search. Was pleased to find they were local and offered free estimates. Called and scheduled someone to call back with a time to schedule a site inspection. After waiting a week, with no call, called them back. They apologized and said standard turn around should have been 24 hours and scheduled in home estimate. Estimator was on time and said I would have the proposal within 24 hours another week has passed and still have not received proposal or call as to why the delay. Really too bad, would have liked to given my business to a local firm.

We were initially impressed with this company based on other reviews and the professionalism of the presentation.
We did have a few communications problems, both before the installation and after in trying to get some sprinkler pipes they damaged fixed afterwards. It is not uncommon to have these problems in the home improvement space, but it was frustrating and disappointing.
Ultimately, they did get the problems mostly fixed — we had to supply the spare pipe to fix what they broke as they did not carry spare, and we need to find a stake to put some bender board back in position as they also did not have that. Other than being a little late to show, they worked well and efficiently, and were not only polite but friendly.

When I evaluate proposals from companies I look mainly at 3 factors: Product, Process, and People.
I received 6 proposals from companies in the Bay Area that only install artificial grass. Most had good products for the lawn area, but short changed on the putting green materials compared to Back Nine Greens (BNG). Most had similar installation methods with slight variations (again BNG lives up to there name in the putting green installation).
However people clinched our decision with Scott Gunning at the lead for BNG. His ethic of «sure we can do that» (and no there wasn’t usually an extra charge) runs like blood through his organization that he leads. His goal is to have a very satisfied customer that has no reservations about recommending them (mission accomplished).
Finally the 4^th «P» price is reasonable (artificial grass, and especially putting greens are pricey) and he was willing to match proposals from competition. BNG scores 4 out of 4 «P’s» and did a phenomenal job surpassing what was anticipated.
The back yard looks great year round – shade areas under trees, surrounding pool, and of course the putting green. It looks so good that our adult daughter has chosen to get married here!
[BTW Back Nine Greens is based in So Cal, but Scott has been running Nor Cal for years]
