I have enjoyed my workouts with this group. I have struggled to keep up with exercise after having kids and chronic back pain. The instructors have been accommodating in providing modifications when needed. They hold classes rain or shine, and have covered areas to workout in to keep mommy and baby dry. They arrange play dates during the week for the little ones too. I find it more fun to connect with moms here than a traditional mother’s group :)

What a great post-baby workout experience! Teachers are great and classes are much tougher(in a good way) than I was anticipating. Miss my time with the other mamas and taking care of myself, now that I am back to work. Glad they have the Saturday class!

this review is specifically for the fit4mom — body back program. i took a few of their preview classes when they were being offered at the athleta store at town & country village in palo alto. i was impressed by the variety of exercises and movements that were offered in each of these classes. sometimes, the class would take place indoors, sometimes outdoors, and sometimes it would be a combination. the outdoor portions of these classes always involved some sort of running or skipping or hopping, which was great for cardio exercise. the instructor also made use of outdoor benches, chairs, and sidewalk curbs so that we could step-ups, pushups, tricep dips, and other functional exercises. when we were indoors, we would usually do timed sets of lunges, squats, pushups, bicep curls, overhead raises, and crunches. the instructor would always provide mats, dumbbells, exercise bands, and balls for these exercises. before each class, we would always do a gradual warmup to warm up the muscles and raise the heart rate, and at the end of each class, we would do a cool down and stretch to bring the heart rate down. the last couple of minutes were always dedicated to meditation which was something i’d never seen or done in an exercise class before. this was actually a great way to wind down a class, with eyes closed, and mind brought to a peaceful spot so that each student could feel at rest and at peace. although the preview classes welcome babies and children, the actual body back program does not allow children to be in the class. classes are offered on different days of the week in san carlos, redwood shores, atherton, menlo park, and los altos. if you’re a mom, or mom-to-be, or not-yet-a-mom(like me) and want to work out with a group of women and a motivating instructor, then this program is for you. for more information on class schedule and locations, check out their website:
