My 85-year old mother was suddenly stricken with terminal lung cancer in August of 2015. we were advised to move my Mom to a hospice care at home, which is where my Mom wished to die. The social worker recommended several home care agencies. One was Home Plus Caregivers. We quickly became impressed as to how attentive Nellie’s and her care givers were to my Mom’s well-being. They also had a good knowledge of hospice care requirements. During the following few months until my Mom died in April 2016, Nellie supplied excellent caregivers who provided competent and compassionate care in three 8-hour shifts, 24 hours a day. There was only one instance in which we felt the need for a replacement caregiver, and Nellie was prompt in finding one. Each of the caregivers was kind and attentive to my Mom’s needs and helped alleviate much of the stress and worry on the part of the family members. Nellie and her on-call staff were always available by phone to address any concerns or questions we might have. Home Plus is reasonably-priced per hour for the quality of staff they provide, but be aware that 24-hour care will be very expensive when you total the monthly bill. This experience taught us the importance of having comprehensive long-term/catastrophic health insurance and/or sufficient personal financial resources to pay for an indefinite period of home care. As the saying goes, you do get what you pay for. I give home plus my highest, unconditional recommendations.
