Tastes like homemade… by a white guy in Iowa. Very bland and too expensive. Go to La Corneta down the street if you want decent mexican food.

Lulu’s is cool. I can count on their food to be consistently the same. Great fish, shrimp or prawn tacos. If I’m feeling like«cooking for a party of one» is the last thing on earth I want to do, then I ride, walk or drive my single(and loving it) self over here! It’s also great if I’m in a hurry and need a healthier«fast food» option… I’m crazy about their chips! If you want the best for your chips, order their fresh Pico de Gallo for $ 1.38 extra. It’s amazing. I also LOVE their Jalapeño flavored pickled carrots, cucumbers and onions! Sometimes they become my appetizer, before my single taco made into a main course. Delicious! There’s rarely a super long wait, and they’re pretty quick, so lots of people coming and going every time I’m there. It’s good. They’re good. As of lately, I read this book about Compassion, and I try to make sure I’m nice to people even if I’m feeling hangry or in a hurry. So they’re always nice to me when I’m there!(Miraculously…). Enjoy!

My family and I have been customers of Lulu’s for years but I will certainly not be returning to this location after my experience today. I attempted to pre-order on the phone and was met with an unpleasant employee who immediately put me on hold for several minutes and was even more unpleasant when I put in my order. The attitudes remained the same in person when we picked up our order. I’ve never tried the veggie burrito here but it was incredibly disappointing. Veggie burritos typically have some type of vegetables to compensate for the lack of meat but Lulu’s veggie burrito is a sad excuse for this, simply rice, beans, and limp iceberg lettuce. No flavor and barely edible. Definitely not worth $ 11. I could have gotten the same ingredients at Taco Bell for $ 3. I’m incredibly disappointed in San Carlos Lulu’s and I’m hope they improve.

I don’t understand this place. Been twice, disappointed once because the second time I knew it wouldn’t be very good. Not really sure why this place is even titled«Mexican». This is not Mexican food. This is a healthy California-ish non-tasty version. Flavors reminiscent of a worse Chipotle. Maybe you’ll have a good salad once in awhile from here, but not in my, my friends, or my SO’s case.

I really like the food at LuLu’s but I don’t think we will be returning. I think it is pretty silly to have such high prices for food and then not offer free chips– most Mexican restaurants are happy to do this. Also, their prices are inconsistent. A kid’s burrito with meat, rice, beans and cheese is $ 7.50 but a small super burrito is less than $ 6.00. It has started to feel like a waste of money to eat there. I would rather support a local taqueria instead.

My wife and I are still looking for a place to replace Hola. Today we deiced to try LuLu’s on Laurel Street for an early dinner. To start off with the person who took our order was not at all friendly. We checked the self service bar and found no chips. When I asked she got some and then started to charge me for them. This is the first place I have been to serving Mexican food that charges for chips and salsa. I declined and we did without. I ordered a super burrito and found it just warm, not hot. About halfway through eating it I realized there was no sour cream or guacamole on it. The Super Burrito comes with both of these. When I asked the person up on the counter she just shrugged and walked off. Turned out she went and got some but made no comment and for sure no apology. Even with the addition of the sour cream and guacamole the burrito was bland and without flavor. We will be be back.

Just ordered a burrito bowl, no rice/beans with lettuce. It was $ 10.25 and tiny. Hardly any lettuce and that is the cheap filler. Service was ok. Food is ok. Would only come back again if I had to.

Cute little place on Laurel St. They have combo plates and al la carte. Food could be hotter but tasted great. Buy the chips and salsa and get free refills! Salsa bar has several choices. Wine and beer. I’d return.

I love this place! A friend of mine told me about it and she was completely right! I love their salsas and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. Their staff is super friendly and the place is super clean! Definitely 1 of my favorite Mexican restaurants!

The last 3 times I ordered from Lulu’s, they got it wrong. Either the wrong beans or the wrong meat, omitted avocado(twice). They don’t pay attention to details anymore. For mediocre food it’s not worth it!

Omg!!! If you want to try the best Mexican chopped salad. Lulu’s has the best. I love it. The employees are very nice specially Maria she was very kind and helpful. I’m completely sure that I’ll be back. They fast, kind, and the most important thing(at least for me) very clean. I’d definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been here twice. The food is ok but blah. The employees are a little rude. The first time I thought I was just the guy that took my order but the second time the lady was just as rude. I ordered a large nacho both times but got two different serving sizes each time. The chips and gac was over priced for such a small amount but ok avocados are expensive. I won’t be going back anytime soon

Where do you get the audacity to charge this much for Mexican food? Bland, completely white-washed Mexican food at that. A shame since I live around the corner and it’s convenient especially since Mi Ranchito was forced to close temporarily as they move while the San Carlos real estate greed takes over our good local companies and replaces it with corporate crap such as Lulu’s.

Terrible service! Server refused to do a Unilocal check in because we asked a little too late. Also we were waiting like 25 min for the order. Place was empty. Another 15 min for the soup. Mediocre food. Being neighbor next door we go another place next time.

We paid $ 15 for a super fish burritos to have guacamole and sour cream as extra. Where is the guacamole and sour cream? And the lady serving was rude and my wife showed her the burritos she looked closer to it and pointed to a very tiny piece avocado and said there it is… as if it’s a foolish question. Disappointing service, burritos and over priced.

How is this place only trending at 3 stars?! Granted, I’ve only tried Lulus for a work-catered lunch, but it was one of the best lunches we’ve had. The food around Redwood City has been lacking, but Lulus was a savior. Also, a place that can cater a bunch of mini tacos and somehow have them all stay intact/not fall over should get 5 stars for that alone. We had an assortment of tacos, enchiladas, and side salad. Everything was super tasty, and the tacos are crunchy without getting too soggy or oily. The enchiladas were very good, and the salsa was fresh – though not spicy enough for my personal taste. The salad dressing is insanely good. As others have noted, this is not authentic Mexican food, and I’m sure the price point is higher than usual. Still, it’s tasty grub and a much better option in the peninsula.

Yesterday was my first visit here, I hade 2 tacos. 1 chile colorado, 1 barbacoa, but the they serve me the one with the barbacoa with a cold tortilla and cold barbacoa which didn’t taste that good, anyway I didn’t wanna complain because I was so hungry that I eat all… Also I have to seat in a dirty table, everything else was good, customer service was good. Maybe I will go back to this place but because I work around the corner, but I will make sure they serve me HOTFOOD

Friendly fast service, clean inside, extensive menu with options for everyone. Carnitas & Churros if its a stony cheat day, or Ensalada Mexicana & a Fruit plate when you on the grind. I love a place that lets you be a fat ass when you want and a clean eater on most days. Props. They did forget my nachos once which made me pretty sad. But I’ll take it as God tellin me I’m doin too much. F Chipotle. LuLu’s can get it.

I went to Lulu’s for the first time after reading online about their gluten free menu options and the procedures they take to avoid cross contamination. My dad and I went in between lunch and dinner time so it was not very busy. They had their gluten free menu, but when they had a manager come back from the back to speak to me she began to explain that all the beans were gluten free and that she would have me just get the red rice since she wasn’t here when the other rice was being made. Also warning they do add BUTTER to their brown rice so it is not dairy free! This was quite surprising for me since I have never come across this situation before. After working with her to figure out what I should order I got the burrito bowl with red rice, black beans, and grilled chicken breast. She told me it would take a few extra minutes for my order so they could make sure proper precaution was taken. I was completely okay with that and am use to it. What I like about the inside of this place it that it is clean and even the bathroom was kept up nicely! They also have a salsa bar which I love! I hate when you have to pay extra for each little salsa. Our food came out and I was impressed it was quite tasty and the salsas were all good. My dad got a free horchata with our Unilocal check in and a bean, rice, and cheese burrito. He loved how much cheese you got. He gets this a lot and was impressed by the ratio of cheese to beans and rice. He thought the horchata was super sweet and rich not something he usually gets. Overall we enjoyed our food, I just wish the front staff was more aware of the gluten free menu and the dairy free options.
