DONOTCOMEHERE! I used this laundromat several times, each time equipment doesn’t work. Usually at least one drier fails and before you notice that it doesn’t heat you spend an extra 30min. Sometimes the washer doean’t spin and leaves you with soaking wet clothes. Yet another 30min wasted to this garbage laundomat. No contact informatio to get the wasted money back. Why fix dysfunctional equipment: it is a great revenue boost… Punchline: Reliably disfunctional and a waste of your time! PS: One of the unmarked driers was broken, too. Good that I learned how bad this place is and only fed it a sinle coin.

I went to try this laundromat with my mom the other day and I must say, this place is actually pretty good! The place is clean and seems like a college type of crowd comes by here as there was a bunch of 20s and 30s people at the time we were in. This place provides wifi and a basic cable TV so there is something here to distract you as you wait for your laundry to be finished. A lot of benches and tables throughout the laundromat so there is plenty of space for you to either do some work or fold your clothes. There’s parking in the back lot area so there isn’t much hassle in finding a spot. The only downside is that there seems to be like 4 dryers that are out of order but at least there’s a sign up so you know not to go there(I’ll be checking back here to see how fast do they repair it). Overall, really good experience from this laundromat and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a laundromat to go to. I will be coming here from now on until my house is done from being constructed so do expect a follow up review in the future.

We accidentally came here(thought it was a diff place) and boy did we regret it. At least 10 of the washing machines were out of service. One of the machines we used(triple load #5) didn’t even do the spin cycle so all the clothes came out dripping wet. We had to try and wheel it all outside and ring out three loads by hand. We left a lot of water dripping on the ground but could not find a mop or anything to clean it up. We tried calling the number and got no response. The drying took twice as long as it should have and the whole ordeal cost us at least an extra hour. I warned a couple people coming in the door and they decided to go elsewhere. It says it has free wifi but I couldnt get it to work at all.

I had a really good experience here this afternoon. It was my first time here. The clientele were very polite and accommodating. The machines were in good working order. I used two giant washers in the back and was very impressed with how well they washed my clothes. I stupidly forgot to bring detergent, but they had a coin vending machine for that. They also have a change machine that takes $ 1, $ 5, $ 10 and $ 20 and gives you quarters. The machines only take quarters. There are machines of different sizes here, so if it’s your first time, wander around first and pick the right sized washers and driers for you. I probably didn’t need to get the biggest sizes, but what was awesome is I only did two loads instead of normally doing several little loads.

Great experience at this laundromat this Sunday morning. The place was clean and had lots of room to get my large loads of laundry done and folded. The owner came in at one point and was there for a little while doing maintenance tasks. He was friendly, introduced himself, and offered advice to the customers. If I need to use a laundromat again, I would definitely come back here.

We travel a lot for work and have had our fair experience of laundromats in the San Francisco Bay area. Scotty’s Laundromat(San Carlos) gets five(5) stars because the machines work. When you select«warm» water, you get«warm» water. When you put the appropriate amount of clothes in the washer, there is enough water to actually«wash» the clothes. When you toss everything in the dryer, you don’t have to spend an hour drying your clothes. As I said, the machines work. The washers wash and the dryers dry as they are designed to do. Beyond the machines working extremely well, Scotty’s has TV so you aren’t bored out of your mind as the drum turns.(Unless someone decides to put on a soap opera; the first prize winner of choice for the most dysfunctional mindset.) Scotty’s also has WiFi. They don’t have anyone on site to handle issues, but, again, if the equipment works and everything is in order, it’s a self sufficient place. Scotty’s Laundromat is deserved of your hard earned money because whoever is running this has their business priorities in proper order. ***** Update(3.25.14): Another consistent wash day at Scotty’s in San Carlos, meaning«excellent laundromat…» Used a different washer(the largest here) and selected«warm» and«got» warm water. Plenty of water poured into the drum, which means our clothes get properly washed. Another observation: Scotty’s seems diligent on maintaining their machines instead of the customer wasting time and money with inferior equipment. Some of the dryers were labeled as «out of service.» However, there were plenty of dryers to use, so it was a non-issue. Just grateful they are on top of their game. Thank you to whoever is running Scotty’s… We very much appreciate your attention to detail.

I was happy to find this place not too busy on a Saturday morning. The one thing that bugged me is there is no phone number listed anywhere in the place if you have a issue with a machine or lost something. Of course, I had a machine problem and can’t report it anywhere. Finally after washing my load for almost 2 hours the machine stopped.

Convenient location. Weird people frequent this place though and its just really expensive. 2.25 for a pretty small load in the washer… I pay 1.50 at my apt building, but sometimes just want to get it all done at once which is why I come here occasionally.

Convenient location in downtown and clean facility. The large dryers were great for a big comforter that I have!

If this owner serviced his machines every once in a while, it would be nice. I’ve seen the same machines broken down for months, and you never know when one of the other machines will break while you’re using it. As much money as he probably brings in, he should take care of his machines better!

This place is okay… but…I didn’t like the folks that frequent this place. Evil old ladies… mugged me and my sister throughout our washing experience!!! My sis and I came here to wash our feather comforters… and after, they smelt like warm ass!!! Seriously… We had to frebreeze the sh*t out of them! The place is pricey, and like I said… our stuff smelt like butt after we washed everything… THEHIGHLIGHT… there are cool places to walk to while you are waiting for your laundry to finish up!

Though I lived in downtown San Carlos for about six years, I never had to go out to a laundromat because the apartments my family lived in always had machines. Yesterday was the first time I went to Scotty’s to do laundry(other times I just cut through from the parking lot to get to Laurel St) and it wasn’t too bad. The washers are $ 2.25 for a kind of small load(I had to use three machines for a month’s worth of laundry), which I think is expensive. We have the same exact washers at UC Santa Cruz for $ 0.75 a load, but I think that’s my being spoiled for being a student. The industrial sized(HUGE!) dryers were $ 0.25 for each 8 minutes, and had three temperature options. The thing I like about Scotty’s is the location, because after tossing some laundry loads in the wash or dryer, you can head out onto Laurel Street to browse some shops. I live in downtown San Mateo now, so I haven’t browsed the downtown area in a while. While I waited for my laundry, I went to Laurel Street Antiques across the street, where you can easily get lost for over an hour. Then back to the laundromat, then to Clock Tower Music at the corner on Cherry between Walnut and Laurel, and then the Chef Shop.
