I can’t believe how small the chicken pieces are they look like Cornish hens I have been a costumer for 20 years I’m done with you

CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN DEGRADED.
This used to be a very well run EL POLLO LOCO, where the managers know how the business should run and how to treat customers. Shift supervisors like JUAN, JOSE were very good, customer oriented.
I went on a Saturday night at 7PM. I was told to wait 20 minutes before the chickens are ready. At 7PM, you did not cook enough chickens, really ?. and it was a very quiet night.
Shift supervisor YESENIA did not know how to run the restaurant properly. She is not friendly and does not know how to handle customers. she is the worst supervisor that I met at this location. NOT GOOD …
YOU RAISED THE PRICE and DOWNGRADED SERVICE?

I ordered a spicy chipotle burrito through drive-​thru for lunch and I asked for red and green salsa. I added the red salsa (the one with tomato and cilantro) and when I bit into the burrito, the salsa tasted super acidic/​vinegary! The salsa was expired! I opened up the other containers with the red salsa and they were also expired because they smelled really bad. I still have the strong taste in my mouth and a headache. I didn’t even eat the burrito because of the rotten/​moldy salsa experience. After this, I will no longer go here again and I advice you to check the salsa before eating if you do go.

Went there again today and same thing!!! Why ask me 2 times if I want salsa if you’re not going to give me what I ask for? I asked for pico de gallo and hot green!!! Had to ask 3 times for lemon! I decided to complain about this and the manager was in ear shot but did not look at me…

I ordered an avocado chicken burrito and my wife ordered a shrimp avocado taco. Approximately 4 hours later I was violently vomiting. Something in the burrito was rancid. This was last night, I’m still feeling bad. Just go somewhere else it isn’t worth getting deathly sick.

They had a lot of self-​serve salsa at the salad bar. There is also an indoor kids playground. Same shopping plaza as Walmart and others so you can get a lot done in one stop.

When I ask for red and green salsa and don’t get it kind of pisses me off since the meal cost enough to get that. They skimp on salsa and napkins. Plenty of other places to go

Not anything like the last time we ate at El Pollo Loco. Ordered the ranchero burrito and it was mostly beans and rice, a little chicken and about 5 pieces of cabbage. The cheese enchiladas were cold and had very little cheese. The crispy chicken tacos were good but they gave you lettuce with the rinds. Wish it would have been shredded lettuce. If we go again will only order chicken with beans, flour tortillas and cole slaw and make my own burrito, no enchiladas and taco without lettuce

I’ve eaten here a bunch but last night got super sick off the tostada bowl. Don’t know if it was the dressing or what but I’m in agony! Stay away…

Honestly I love getting a pollo bowl combo w/​o chicken, I get to have a diet coke, 2 tortillas and the beans and rice bowl for $ 5.40 with tax.

I usually like El Pollo Loco, but the service here was horrible last night. At the drive-​thru, we ordered two chicken stuffed quesadillas and asked that they not include salsa, onions and cilantro. I had them repeat the order and the receipt looked right, but when we got home, we had pork (have not eaten red meat for 30 years, so this was not edible) and the cheese was missing. Imagine a quesadilla without cheese. We had gone through the drive-​thru because we were tired and just wanted to get home, so imagine our disappointment. I called and spoke to the manager, and he was barely apologetic and basically said we could come back and get the order right, no other offer for our inconvenience. When I mentioned how unfair this seemed and asked if they had a voucher or gift card to make up for the problem, he offered 25% off the next time we come back. As if we are coming back …

Great fast food as always from El Pollo Loco.
My one problem with this location is this: when I go through the drive thru, they ALWAYS get my order wrong. Generally it’s just the salsa. I always ask for extra Pico de Gallo because that is what really makes the food here good to me. They end up putting a few «house salsa“s instead, which I do not like at all, hence the special request for pico de gallo. I have even said, Pico de Gallo please, and not the mild house salsa and still had them give me the wrong stuff. A couple times they have forgotten a taco I paid for, and one time switched a fancy burrito I picked up for a totally different flavor, and we had to drive back right before they closed to exchange it because my friend hates bbq sauce and they had switched it for the bbq one. I really wish this location would get itself together.
It also smells a bit like a public restroom if you walk inside to order, which I do now so that I can get my own salsa.

There is generally a theme to my reviews, and most of the time, it has to do with health. I can remmebr as a kid that el pollo loco was sort of a delight to be found in ares far form my home, but they have gorwn and so have i. As i have gotgten older, i cant seem to handle the chicken on=f my youtrth and gluttonoues days, fried and delish… not so good for me these days, so having a charbroiled option is awesome. the taste is alwasy fresh and reminds me of the outdoors and holidays.
I am especially fond of the green sauce, wich is sort of a watery guac and cilantro mix. whatever the magic is, it makes everything taste even better than a opacket of red junk yu find at the mexican drive thrus.
I love that you can get steamed veggies instead of lard filled beans. again, i love the yummy fatty stuff you can still find, but i cant seem to eat as much as i used to without going up a size in my jeans, so i enjoy the modified diet that places like el pollo lend me.
Fast and easy, a great alternative to a pot lucjk if you dont have time to cook, or dont want to bring some crazy carbo loaded glutton dish.
And the wet naps are handy in the car for after the gas station, cause those pumps carry germs that will get you sick for sure!

If I could give this joint 0 stars, I absolutely would. 2 thingd wrong here. First, the service here is beyond TERRIBLE. It took nearly 30 minutes to get my food, and I only get 30 minutes for my lunch… so much for this being a fast food restaurant. The girl behind the counter taking orders took her dear sweet time taking the orders of four people, she would constantly walk away and have side conversations with her co-​workers. After she finally took my order, I had to wait 15 minutes for my food to be ready… but only half of my order was ready because the girl packaging the food had given part of my order to one of her friends that was in there who did not even order that item. I had to wait even longer for them to re-​cook that item. She didn’t apologize, just laughed about it with her friend, while he sat over with other El Pollo Loco workers who were in uniform. The manager behind the counter did not apologize, he didn’t even seem to care.
Second, the employees don’t speak a lot of English so it is very hard to place my order and ask them questions about anything. It makes it very difficult to correctly order your food when there is a language barrier.
The food at El Pollo Loco is good but having to wait so long is not worth it. I won’t be back.

I’m not a fan of this EPL. I have been going to this one for 5 years and the chicken has gotten better but the customer service is not up to snuff. Its the little thing like that make me happy. How about some salsa. Shame on me for not asking. Or try asking for extra salsa… I just got corn for my kids, I was so spicy they couldn’t eat it. Please don’t call me a sniveler, I eat at EPL from Beverly Hills to Southern San Diego. This place on Ave. Pico in San Clemente stinks. I’m done… Like I said it’s the little things for me.

We weren’t regulars at El Pollo Loco until we moved to San Clemente. We don’t have very many restaurant choices that is within minutes of us here, so Hubby & i have frequented this joint more these past few months than our lifetime combined! Lol
But we actually crave EPL nowadays. Love the steak/​three cheese quesadilla (pricey!), taco al carbon (but super small!), 3-​pc leg/​thigh meal. Also like the steak taco (the supreme kind) & the tostada.
My sister makes fun of us because we bring home EPL at least once a week!
Very pricey for fast food though. We easily spend $ 40+ for about 4 – 5 people, but we usually have leftovers.
Their salsa/​pico de gallo is good there, but I am not fond of their green avocado sauce. At all. Their sauces are very mild though.
Great customer service there. They got our order wrong once (gave us reg cheese quesadilla instead of steak), but they made up for it by comp’ing our steak.
My only disappointment has been that the franchises don’t necessarily offer the same entrees. I love their fresca chicken burrito but they didn’t offer it here.
Overall, you’ll see us back here often!

Typical EPL, but this one has a Foster Freeze and always gets your order right.
