The Saloon

San Clemente is laden with salons literally everywhere, and I feel like I’ve tried about every one of them, usually leaving somewhat satisfied or somewhat disappointed. I have never been happy enough to leave a Unilocal review, because I’d never gotten consistency, until NOW.
THIS salon is a tiny bit off of Del Mar and is absolutely WONDERFUL! To start with, it’s small, which lets you have a relaxing experience as there are not a million women chattering away. The Owners Sasha and Lotte, always make you feel comfortable and welcome, and have an excellent and inspiring sense of style. I’m 45 years old, and have NATURAL blonde hair that is past my shoulders. I have been coming here for a year and consistently have gotten the BEST HAIRCUTS and COLOR, ever in my life!!! The amount of compliments I receive about my hair, is wonderful, and makes me feel great! I like to add Fuschias, and other random colors to my blonde hair, and Sasha has done it perfectly and exactly what I wanted, every single time. Her color lasts awesome, especially considering that I don’t use bleach in my hair, and her prices are great too! As a business owner myself, I highly recommend this salon, as the skills, talent and professionalism displayed are always on point! Thank you for always making me feel beautiful when I leave Sasha!

Sasha is amazing! She was so great and squeezed me into her busy schedule for a last minute haircut and color correction. As a hairstylist myself I am always nervous about having someone else do my hair and Sasha put my nerves to rest. She suggested a perfect low maintenance color that wouldn’t damage my hair and she cut off the right amount of hair to make my hair look full while keeping the length. I am so glad that I went to her. She will absolutely be my go to stylist.

Sasha did a great job trimming my hair. She listened to what I wanted, was easy to talk to, and does excellent work. I highly recommend her!

LOVE this place! I know Sasha from her days in Chicago. As soon as I moved to LA, I made an appointment for a color and cut. I drove 2 hours for this, and it was totally worth it! I brought my dog and we felt right at home. Sasha is lovely and so sweet– and she always makes my hair look fabulous and completely on point. The salon itself is nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. I love that it’s small and personal. Price is reasonable for the quality, but not cheap. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Lotte is absolutely amazing! If your looking for that edgy, unique cut that will catch eyes and endless compliments, she is the hair stylist you want to see! I highly recommend this spot.

When my stylist moved out of state — I panicked! Luckily I was referred by another mom to go see the ladies at Salon Saloon. Sasha, the co-​owner, did my hair and I’m very pleased with it. She gave me a great cut (updated the bob) with some very natural highlights. I felt very comfortable with her. The salon is clean and beautifully decorated — panic over!

I love this place whenever it’s time for a cut and color I go see Lotte I would never see anyone else she is truly amazing and from watching the other ladies at work they are as well I would recommend this salon to anyone!!!

I will admit that I am extremely boring when it comes to my hair. I don’t dye or drastically cut it… just a trim every few months. I still of course love to be pampered at the salon every once in a while even though I am not adventurous when it comes to my hair. I made an appointment with Sabrina and asked her for a 2 – 3 inch trim with a few layers. She washed, cut, styled my hair and even made me a cup of coffee. She was very personable and didn’t rush or pressure me into cutting more off like other stylists do. She even walked me through how she was styling my hair so I could repeat it if I wanted to. I would definitely recommend her and the Saloon!

Did not want to do this, but feel it is an area for growth at the Saloon.
Any mother can attest, once your child comes along, it is not always easy to «treat» yourself (time/​money), even if it’s to something as simple as a haircut. After 5 months of being a mommy, and almost 12 months of letting my hair grow, I figured a TRIM was not only long overdue, but was well deserved and could make me feel a bit better about my appearance– even if I did look exhausted, at least I would have fresh looking hair.
Sabrina was asked to «trim what was needed to make my hair look healthy.» We agreed on 2 inches. She then proceeded to take at least 4 inches off of the longest layer, probably 5 to 6 inches to create a top layer– BY WAY OF RAZOR CUT, a technique I have not seen used in years. Won’t go too deep into it, but nothing blends and the bottom looks like split ends from the use of the razor and is completely uneven.
I wanted a trim and essentially got an uneven mullet that can’t even be pulled into a pony tail.
While I appreciate her offering to have me return to have one of the owners fix it, it is hard to imagine how much further one could go. My once rib-​length hair, is now hacked and shoulder length.
Just a heads up for future customers, and hopefully additional training for Sabrina will be considered by the owners.

Sabrina was amazing! So bubbly and sweet and fun. Not to mention talented. This girl really enjoys cutting/​styling hair. I will admit this salon is a little bit more expensive than my old stylist, but my stylist was less expensive than most. I would pay this again for Sabrina and for the experience I had here. Plus, my fiancé loves my hair. Sabrina gave me the cutest beach waves tonight after my coloring! Stop by!

I highly recommend The Saloon. I decided to roll the dice on this place and I was very impressed — if I only had this kind of luck in a casino. I sat with Sasha and couldn’t have had a better experience. I requested for her to do whatever she wanted with my hair (since she’s the pro) and it turned out awesome — clean, professional, modern. perfect. She is gifted in her craft, has a great personality to spark a natural conversation with a stranger, and is obviously business savvy proven by the establishment her and her sister have created.

Highly recommended! Lotte and Sasha are both gems– truly– kind, lovely and artistic women– as well as extremely skilled stylists. I followed Lotte here from Sirens, where she was for the 8 (?) years or so… even when I lived in San Francisco, I would hold off on color until I could make it down to SC and see her :) She’s that good. They really did a beautiful job with the new salon. :)

The lovely ladies at this salon have earned their 5 star reputation! They are awesome! I bought a deal on Groupon for a cut, deep condition, and blow out for 27 $. I’ve been on the hunt for a salon for awhile and it believe I found it. Usually with deals like this I feel like most places do a half a$$ job only because you’re usually only paying half of what they normally charge but that was not the case here! Sasha was straight up awesome. She took her time with the blow out and she even massaged my scalp during my deep conditioning. I’m really picky about my hair cut especially my bangs and Sasha did a great job! An she was so nice! She kept a causal conversation the whole time and really made me feel comfortable.
The salon itself it very unique in a good way. It’s very stylish and most important it’s very clean! The overall flow of the saloon was awesome and it’s uniqueness gives it am extra flare. If you’re looking for a great salon with even better stylists look no further because this is the salon for you :) thanks for the great cut Sasha! You Rock!

These ladies are the best in town!!! They do amazing colors and styles… love the place very relaxing and Lotte rocks!!!

Sasha is the bomb. Love her and the whole vibe of saloon salon. It is charming and cool all at the same time. She has squeezed me in twice last minute. I’m sure this place will continue to grow and flourish.

Such a wonderful experience with Sabrina. She styled my hair before my wedding dress fitting. Couldn’t have been happier with the way she gave my flat hair a voluminous make over. I’m definitely having her style me and the bridal party! Thank you! :)

Love this place. Have known Lotte for a few years. She does a great job and is affordable. I have taken my daughters there and they too love her. I would highly recommend the saloon!!!

REALLY great salon. I don’t normally take the time to review places (actually never have before!) but The Saloon has a great vibe, amazing staff, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Stylist named Sabrina assisted me with making a huge change up with my hair and now i TOTALLY LOVE IT. She was skilled, knowledgable and helpful. Highly recommended!

Went to The Saloon for the first time yesterday after being recommended by a friend. It is fairly new so I wasn’t sure what to expect. He told me to ask for Sabrina so I made my appointment with her. I was not disappointed. First off, Sabrina was very attentive, personable, and did an excellent job. She might be young, but is extremely talented and knows her stuff.
Also, they have an excellent location with an awesome interior. Its small, yet very open with fantastic wood work inside, which creates an aesthetically pleasing environment. The place had a laid back relaxed vibe and after my long (hungover) day at work, that was what I needed.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good experience. The Saloon should stay in business for a while.
