Admiral Prout Field House

Great place to get your workout in. I have been lucky enough to always score a cardio machine (treadmill, elliptical or stationary bike) when I go.
The weight rooms has machines for every group, but no duplicates of the same machine, so might have to adjust your routine based on the demand of the muscle group you’re wanting to target that day, other than that there is enough equipment to get a full workout.
I have not yet figured out the best time to attend, but it is a bummer that it closes at 2 during Saturday and Sunday.
Their basketball courts are also great, if a full court game is not going on, there are 9 baskets available, which allows for a lot of activity. Even when full court games are going the second court allows for some shooting and drills.
Overall, great facility with great equipment.

Love this gym!!! But due to cost cutting, they now close at 1400 during Saturdays… :(

For anyone looking for a serious place to workout, this is the place to be.
The facility itself is kept up to a certain standard which is very clean and orderly. They check ids when you walk in and have fresh towels ready for you to grab so you can start your workout. The gym is set up in a way that the upper level is for stationary cycling and stretching, the lower level has a place for treadmills and other various types of cardio. There is also a section for lifting and within the lifting area the place is divided between legs, core, and arms respectively. They have trainers who are ready to help anyone workout or learn how to use a certain machine. They are willing and check around the room to make sure everything is put away, everyone is safe and the machines are working properly.
There is a huge room for basketball which is swept and has two full size courts and 6 hoops. This is great if you’d like to play with a buddy or with a group of friends. I recommend for anyone if you know someone with an ID take advantage of this place. They also require that you have proper footwear when playing on the court which is part of why the courts are kept so clean.
There is a pool area from 4 feet all the way to 14 feet that is the length of an Olympic size pool. There are always several life guards around. I like to finish my workouts with a nice swim for a full body workout and when the pool area is not busy one of the life guards come around looking to help anyone if they’d like to swim better and get a better workout. The life guards are well informed and will give you helpful tips. They are very friendly and are friendly to talk to. When you need a towel they always accommodate you and anyone you’re with. The bathroom has a sauna and a steam room. The shower area I would recommend bringing shower slippers because it is a slippery. The lockers are nice and clean. The urinals and toilets are not the newest but they are clean.
The part that I love about this place is the atmosphere. I have tried 24 Hour fitness for about 2 years and the atmosphere went from fitness to a social club where you would see people walking around talking and not really focused on working out. People would typically stare and 24 Hour is just not a welcoming environment if you’re really looking to workout seriously. Not at Admiral Prout though. Here the environment is welcoming and no one is there to judge anyone else. Everyone focuses on their own respective workout and the atmosphere gets you pumped and serious about your health and your own muscle growth. Yes you need an ID to get in but it’s ok to ask a friend if they would like to be a workout buddy.
Be warned, this place isn’t exactly kid friendly so I would think twice about bringing the kiddies. Overall this is a really great gym with a great mentality and you feel it and see it all around. That’s the military for you!

Need DoD access! Nice gym, friendly staff lots of newer equipment. Track outside and outside equipment. There is also a spin class and zumba.

I still love coming to this gym. It does help that it is free for military members and it’s nice to see the same ol faces day in and day out that greet you when you come and go. It’s kept super clean and the guy behind the counter in the morning makes sure that there are never more than 5 used rags in the bucket. All in all, one of my favorite gyms to have ever been to even though it doesn’t have super snazzy matching equipment, it definitely has character.

Great place for a workout. I am still amazed to see so many people that early in the morning, especially during the holidays.

Pros: It has a complete variety of cardio equipment, basketball court, weight room, racquetball courts and much more. It is also clean and the equipment is in pretty good condition.
Cons: The parking lot is always packed and the gym can get pretty crowded (waiting for equipment).

This and the Olde Gym defines that underdog spirit especially Olde. all in the same military base. All have a different character. Great environment. Best place for growth and results. A big thanks to Curtis for maintaining some of the facilities and keeping that powerhouse spirit.

In all fairness, the only people that would even read a review for Admiral Prout Field House is anyone who are even allowed onto base. So, you need a military ID to work out here.
I pretty much live here, so I can tell you for what is available, this place is pretty good. I think any gym will have issues with how conjested it gets during peak hours. They offer a full compliment of cardio gear (bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, manual treadmills mills (?) and a swimming pool. The weight gym has lots of machines and few full racks of dumbells. They definitely packed as much as they could here. They have indoor basketball courts. There is also a fitness station across from the main building that is at your disposal, as long as they are not running a class there. Their group classes are also a bonus. They have a track outside with a nice «jungle gym» area and a football/​soccer field in the middle. It’s pretty well maintained. Back behind the track are a few brand new softball fields and two older (think Sandlot) softball fields. Next to all of this is also indoor racketball courts. I think that covers all of it!
It seems like if you want a cardio machine, you pretty much have to fight for it. It is even more annoying that the people using the cardio equipment really do take their time. A negative strike as well, since I am a Command Fitness Leader is that our testing is always conducted here for alternate cardio, so the equipment gets tied up a lot of the times. I think they need to build another building just with alternate cardio equipment for those adminstrating the PRT. Most of the hardcore get in and get out or they run outside on the track.
I have love for the weight room because there are plenty of dumbbells, but they don’t have an area just for functional fitness like they do at The Olde Gym.
They also have locker rooms and plenty of showers. I do not like the way their showers are set up. They are too close together! Yeah, about that.
Take advantage of this place if you have access to it! There’s something for pretty much everyone and it’s FREE 99. can’t beat that!

As far as being a gym… it’s mediocre. It’s modest size and lack of equiptment make you want more, on the other hand the track and large pool that it boasts balance it out nicely.

Basic gym with limited free weights selection, kettle bells and weight machines. They have a few number of cardio equipment. They have a basketball court, swimming pool, and next door has a modern running track, soccer/​football field, pull up bars and body weight circuit stations.
You need a military ID to use the facility so there aren’t too many people on their cell phones and
like at 24 hour fitness ha. People here are usually all business when it comes to working out. This place doesn’t have all the amenities like a 24 hour sport or LA fitness, but if you’re in the service, there should be less complaining and more working out ha. I don’t mind driving a lil extra to get a good workout here and surrounding myself with motivated and dedicated people.

I can’t really complain about Admiral Prout, it has everything you need to get a well rounded workout.
My positive thoughts are
— Facility is clean and well staffed
–Weekday hours are good 0500 to late
— Pool water is not freezing and is enjoyable
There are other positives but this is what I enjoy
My Negative thought are
— Lack of treadmills, if its crowded be prepared to wait or go run on the track outside
— Lack of weight machines and other equipment.
— Communal showers, I do not want one of the first things I see in the morning to be a 70 year old dudes balls, while he decides to hold a conversation next to me in the shower, while toweling off and then changing thats just disturbing.
I use the gym in the mornings before work, other wise if I’m not in the area I go to L.A. Fitness

This is a decent sized gym. They have plenty of cardio machines such as treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. There is also a second level with some more cardio machines san treadmills along with a mini-​stretching area.
The locker rooms have a sauna inside but no steam rooms. Plently of lockers to store your belongings inside (I think over 300, I’m not sure). Plenty of showers but no stalls at all so if you don’t like open showers with the same sex then don’t shower here.
The weight room is very large. For some reason people have problems putting their weights back in the proper location. Somewhat annoying. Anywho, all of the equipment is modern and up to date. There is also a basketball court here but it is kind of hard to play a full basketball game because it is usually pre-​occupied by one of the commands on base.
There is a pool and spa area here with a lifeguard on duty at all times. The pool area closes at sunset regardless of when the gym close.
The staff here are courteous. Many of them are certified and will assist and help you if you have any difficulties. Gets pretty crowded in the afternoon after everyone gets off of work. Try coming here early in the morning if possible. The downside is that it closes way too early on weekend at 5:00 p.m. so keep that in mind as well.

MUST HAVE A MILITARY ID TO STEP ONTO THE BASE!

Lots of cardio machines, big ass pool to swim in, big gym to play some basketball, sauna in the bathrooms, and free weights for days.
I enjoy going here because everyone who works out is in the Military and they give you tips on exercises.
The staff is nice and helpful, and they offer free towels to wipe your sweat with and your machines.
