Decided to get some taco shop yesterday. At the drive thru I asked what comes in the California burrito, the girl wasn’t sure so she asked someone and she said Meat, pico de gallo and cheese. I specifically asked No Guacamole right? She said no. So I asked for two burritos with no pico and two sides of guacamole in two cups. The reason I do that is because my kids won’t eat the whole burrito and if it has guacamole in it, it starts to turn black and gross for when they want to reheat it. I also asked for carne asada fries with ONLY meat, sour cream and extra cheese. At the register I asked what exactly she is charging me for because I know this place they don’t listen very well so I have to double check every time I go.(The food is good when they get it right). She named off my order and it sounded ok except I hadn’t asked for extra sour cream but she had charged me for it. I get home and both burritos have guacamole in them as well as my carne asada fries. $ 28 wasted. LASTTIMEGOINGTHERE.

It’s good late night fill your drunk and f’d up face food. But this isn’t a San Diego tradition here. Also I had my debit card hacked randomly after going here??? If I’m in the area and I can’t find anything else, I’ll go but regret it haha It’s pretty fast and fair priced. But don’t get shrimp or carnitas. Super wet and nasty. 2/5…only reason not a three is because there are other options.

Well first of all this place is open 24 hours. I always order Carne Asada Fries or the California Burritos. This is my favorite spot to come for those two things. The women who work the window are always a hit or miss personality wise. But hey, they’re doing their job. As long as they’re not rude to me they can be as short with me as they’d like. There was one incident where they didn’t put sour cream on my Carne Asada Fries(they normally charge $ 1.00) I called back and whoever I spoke with was very apologetic and said if I can come back whenever and they’ll add sour cream for free. I have had nothing but good experiences here. One hiccup, but nothing that they didn’t fix with an apology. I love the portion sizes, and the horchata. Always will be eating here.

I’m addicted. I’ve had a their tacos, and they weren’t bad, but the burritos are where it’s at: massive and stuffed with all the right things, crisp veggies, flavorful beans, and awesome fish. They’re always friendly, sometimes more than others, but don’t forget a tip never hurts. It’s really decently priced, so you can afford it.

The mighty have fallen! This used to be our special spot… our special hole in the wall treat back when it was molca salsa… and whatever else it has been! The jist of this place is that it lacks flavor! So sad! My kids had the steak and egg breakfast Burrito and the steak was bland. My husband ordered the five rolled tacos with salsa Fresca sour cream, lettuce, guacamole and cheese… More bland food. I felt like a crispy chicken chimichanga and sadly the chicken of course was bland the chimichanga was not crispy and the side of beans and rice… Here it comes… bland! Blah. Boring. Threw it away. ugh! The hunt begins for a good hole in the wall Mexican food close to my house…

Ok… so I already thought of this place as a NOTSOGOODTACOSHOP, but thought maybe if I got something different than my last horrible experience, I would maybe be satisfied. No…same nasty shit! I got 2 tacos and a burrito… all three were a watery… falling apart, sloppy mess. The tacos basically should have been just meat in a container, bcuz as soon as I picked up each one the meat fell right thru tha shell on both n ended up in the trash.(-8.00) Why would u put the quac and sour cream on the bottom of the taco and not the top… this is a taco shop that doesn’t know the fundamentals of making a taco? HOWDOESTHATWORK!!! Common sense would tell u its not gonna hold… how do u get a watery burrito and its not from the juiciness of the meat that made it wet n gross… Straight Nasty! Tried giving them the benefit of the doubt frm the time b4 thinking could have been a new cook or a bad nite… everyone and everything derserves a second chance… but this second chance has only confirmed they are in need of new ownership… and new people… the rude ass lady only made it worst! She was very dry with no personality… different lady from last time. I think, she might have jus dyed her hair and different color but just as rude… with a stank attitude… if u dont like ur job, go work somewhere else… but her attitude probably wouldnt get her the another job. Im flippin disgusted with this whole experience once again. I Vow. I will never be back and hope they get rid of this poor. poor excuse of a TACOSHOP and build a El Co for us in City Heights like the one in Clairemont… they would make bank

They gave me my order with a pubic hair on it. I went back to show it to them and they refuse to refund me only exchange. I wait 25 minutes to get replacement. I took the ‘new’ burrito just to find out they just gave me the same one and rewrapped back again I went back and they admitted and refuse to refund again only offered to give me a new one but of course I rejected I just left I lost all my hour lunch just to get this Gross experience ever I will never never never come back there and actually they should be shot down by health department worse experience ever please be careful and double check you food if you still want to eat there. I wouldn’t.

Okay, okay, at first I was a skeptic but after returning here every night after the gym for a week, I’ve fallen in love. One lady working the window is a little bitter but the other is super sweet. I love their buritos though I’m not a burito person. Their fish is on point and the salsa is even better. Also, it’s very inexpensive. Yum.

First off the lady taking the orders was rude and gave any customer that ordered a dirty look… The food was a bit pricey so I thought maybe the quality would match… Boy was I wrong. Both myself and my girlfriend barely touched our food… We ended up throwing away our meals and ended up getting sick from it as well… Avoid this place… There are much better options nearby

Worst taco shop ever! Like another comment mention, person taking the order was rude! Got a California burrito, and it had no sour cream or guacamole, it was so dry… for $ 6 I could of went a bit down the road and got something much better for a bit cheaper too… My pregnant wife was very upset…

For VEGETARIANS, the huevos a la mexicana are an amazing choice! SERVEDALLDAY despite being a breakfast dish, one order is a massive portion for at least two people to share, and always comes piping hot with delicious tortillas on the side. The huevos rancheros and chilaquiles are also good vegetarian options served at all hours. You can request a veggie burrito as well, which turns out pretty tasty, even though it’s not officially on the menu. It is so awesome to have these choices at a taco shop when there is almost always meat all over the menu at similar places.

Horrible, horrible, horrible!!! The service was horrendous, first of all! The lady who took our order was SO rude! It’s almost as if she did not want the business at all. The prices seemed a little steep, especially for the quality. The carne asada was rubbery and the carnitas was just all fat, not real meat pieces. My boyfriend and I both barely touched our food and threw both of them away, such a waste. We both also ended up becoming sick from the food. Never again!

This place is probably my favorite taco shop. The wait time at night can get crazy but there’s always a line because who else is open at 1am? Some. of these reviews are spot on though, some of the women that work at night can be really short and come off as rude. Hands down the best carne asada fries I’ve ever had. They make everyone else’s taste bad. They have fantastic burritos. Their chicken taco salad thing is amazing. I can’t get over the carne asada fries. They’re so good. So good. Their rolled tacos are also good but carne asada fries… 2000 calories of amazeballs.

The food here is pretty good for what it is. It’s a tad bit more costly than Vallarta’s(our other fave burrito show) but much more conveniently located for the SDSU area. We’ve tried many of the other shops in that area, and this is definitely our favorite. Our most frequently ordered burritos are the carnitas(seriously, this is the best), california(a little dry), shrimp(very good), quesadilla(yes, these can be screwed up, but not here), carne asada fries(pretty good), rolled tacos(crispy and smothered in sour cream, guac, and lettuce), and beans(I wish they came with cheese on them, but they’re okay for what they are). Service is a little slow and the cashiers are sometimes annoyed with their jobs.(Customer service isn’t exactly the most fun thing on the planet, but you get less flak from customers if you’re nice to them.) If not for this, it’d be a 4 star rating.

A totally divey drive thru taco shop. Rolled tacos are pretty good for take away food when you are a little rushed for time.

My favourite place for late night eats in SD. Usually go for the rolled tacos topped with Guac and cheese. I then pour on some nice spicy red salsa. A great snack for just a few bucks.

Alanberto’s sounds like a made up Spanish name. It is a little run down. I ate here while my son was getting ready for his hockey game at the nearby Kroc Center. It was recommended by a friend that had eaten at Alanberto’s 25 years ago while a student at SDSU. The fact that he had not eaten there in 25 years should have been a reason for concern. The fact that he was a college kid at the time should have been another. This is a walk up or drive thru only. It has outdoor seating. I ordered two carne asada and two carnitas street tacos. The asada was four stars and the carnitas was two. I split the difference and gave three stars to Alanberto’s. The carnitas was mostly hunks of fat. I do not mind rich carnitas, but this was past being rich. The salsa was OK, but could have used more heat. I walked from the ice rink to Alanberto’s and past two other Mexican places on the way. The next time I am there, I am going to try Carnitas Michoacanes instead.

I have never written a Unilocal review in my entire life. And I usually frequent Unilocal to read reviews so that I know which places to avoid or which places to go to. I recently went to this establishment three days ago to grab some lunch on my way to work. It’s across the street from a Taco Bell and since Taco Bell is far from authentic Mexican food, naturally I assumed Alanberto’s would be a substantial step up from Taco Bell. Nothing special to look at, but that’s not why I went there. I was looking for a tasty lunch and I didn’t want something too heavy. I ordered the shrimp burrito. It wasn’t what I expected, however it wasn’t bad. It was in what tasted like a homemade or close to homemade tortilla, with Spanish rice and a blend of what looked like red peppers, green peppers, onions, tomatoes in a red chile sauce with shrimp in it. It tasted wonderful and was definitely a lot larger than I anticipated. And the burrito had more than 3 shrimp in it! The MAJOR downside… is that only a few hours after eating this burrito I started feeling really sick. It turns out I ended up with FOODPOISONING(and I’ve narrowed it down to this place because I had literally shared every item of food with my boyfriend all weekend, except that one). Now whether or not this is from undercooked shrimp or unsanitary conditions, I don’t know. But what I do know is that this is the end of day three and I still feel like crud with every major symptom of food poisoning(and one symptom of shellfish poisoning — difficulty breathing). It’s really a shame too, because the food was pretty delicious.

FOOD: Ordered 2 chicken enchiladas. Was overly salty, so that cost them a star. Also, the chicken wasn’t as shredded as I had hoped it to be. More like big chunks and not my style. :(the boyfriend ordered a chicken torta combk with fries and a small drink and it was a big enough serving! AMBIANCE: Went at 9pm on a Tuesday night. No line, nobody else really. Eventually more cars trickled in through the drive-thru. PARKING: Small lot on the corner of a semi-busy intersection. Its drive-thru tho, so there’s always that option!

A fast food mexican place with a drive-thru. There wasn’t much of a wait for a late Sat. night. It was close to my friend’s place so decided to give it a try. I only had the cali burrito from here and I loved it! There was a lot of flavor from the carne asada and the pico de gallo! They used small fries and I didn’t see any guac in the burrito but I still find it tasty. In fact, I am not sure if I even see any guac in cali burritos from other places. I also reheated in the microwave and pan toasted the tortilla the next day… it was still good!
