Buried within Driscoll Wharf along San Diego Bay in Pt. Loma is a great seafood vendor named American Seafood Co. They are fish wholesalers and sell the best seafood around. Because of their location right on a working dock just minutes from the Pacific, American has access to the freshest fish and seafood coming in from the ocean.
At one time, they did operate a fish market themselves, but now they just wholesale fish and shrimp and deliver to the best restaurants and cafes. I was having lunch with my daughter up in Rancho Santa Fe where she works, and we had the most wonderful seafood dish. I asked the owner where he buys his fish from, and sure enough, it was – American Seafood Co.
