Great little gallery with a fantastic patio where organic food is growing in beautifully designed metal containers. I have been several times, i like the vibe there. I crashed some party they were having(not sure if it was private, I just know I was not invited but somehow I ended up beer in hand and having a good time smelling the tomatoes) one Thursday night that I went to check the North Park farmer’s market. You can always stop by Swoon, next door, to get some coffee/designer sweet. It is a very nice space for the neighborhood with a community feeling to it.

What a wonderful little gallery!!! Art Produce brings some awesome culture to North Park! Its pretty cozy, but for what it lacks in size, it makes up in amazing art and talent! This little gallery brings some culture to their corner of North Park and also has a dessert and coffee bar, Swoon, attached to it. This gallery puts on amazing shows and seems to be very community oriented. They focus on community and creating a space that the neighborhood can enjoy, whether it be attending an opening reception or just creating a beautiful space to see through the huge windows as you are walking by. There even is an organic urban garden in the back of the space, which is awesome! The owner, Lynn, is wonderful and has truly created an amazing space. I helped to curate a show for the Mesa College Museum Studies Class, and we were lucky enough to be able to use Art Produce for the show. The show, Altered Horizons, turned out amazing, and is up till mid-may. Art Produce was great and truly worked with the class to create a fantastic show. I cant wait to see what the next exhibition is!

While I was waiting for my cappuccino at Caffe Forte, I ventured in this tiny juxtaposed gallery space to be faced with photographs of Aids victims from India as part of an exhibition focusing on a San Diego– based nonprofit organization called Project Concern International. Although there is a new exhibition presented in this venue every month, this one I deemed very relevant based on its humanitarian impact. Although, honestly, my need for a cappuccino vaporized after that jolting visual and emotional experience, as my psychosomatic– self suddenly developed the need for a tranquilizer… Cruel empathy!

The gallery is small, but they usually do some pretty big thangs. They show everything from photography to installations to graffiti paintings – and I have yet to peg down the gallery owner’s favorite. The Art Produce Gallery has a show once a month, so if you live in or around North Park there’s no excuse. Stop by, have a cup of coffee at the attached coffee shop and enjoy some pretty fabulous art by mostly unheard of, but up-and-coming contemporary artists.
