Arya Cleaners 7

I went to Arya for alterations on a $ 40 pair of Levi jeans that had a «gap» in the back waistband — you know, the type that TLC’s «What Not To Wear» tells you that you should never have with jeans. The tailoring was outstanding. Instead of putting in 2 darts in the back, they took in the jeans along the back seam and you cannot tell they were ever altered. I’m holding back a star for the snotty attitude of the tailor. He was busy working on a fine men’s suit and made me wait in the dressing room about 10 minutes before he could get to me and my humble jeans.

Arya Cleaners quality & service are impeccable! They are perfectionist when it come to cleaning everything I have taken them from the heaviest table linens to silk pocket squares. And they do it all while constantly updating their environmental approach to the best available technology. Over ten years of service I have had less than 2 – 3 issues and they go above and beyond to fix the problem ASAP! Highly recommend them for all you Laundry service.

I have gotten various work items cleaned here over the past few years but recently took numerous blazers and shirts to be tailored. They did a fantastic job and didn’t charge me any extra even though I asked for them earlier than they initially told me they would be ready. I recently needed something tailored extremely last minute and the gentleman behind the counter was extremely accommodating and even stayed later on a Saturday past close to allow me to come get it when I was running late. Will continue to use Arya!

This is the third dry cleaners I tried in San Diego and I should have come here first. FANTASTIC customer service, my clothes are impeccable, and I’ve also been quite happy with their alterations. Will be taking my clothes here from now on.

I LOVE this Arya Cleaners! Every time I pick up my dry cleaning, they look like the first day I bought them! The customer service is excellent too! I highly recommend them.

Went there to inquire about repairing a small tear on a shirt. The gentleman sitting behind the sewing machine looked at it and made the determination that it was going to be a «special job» that needed extensive custom fabrication, and that the turn around time was going to be around 2 weeks. I asked him for clarification, and then he states we are really busy here (no one else was in the shop). He was pretty rude about it. Clearly he just wanted to eat his lunch. I would had more respect for him if he just told me he couldn’t do it. Worse place ever!!!

Arya is truly one of the worst in terms of quality and service. I have used this cleaner only because it is the most convenient to my home but no more!
Today I returned seeking a refund for a black sheath dress that came back with white antiperspirant marks worse than when I dropped it off.
After multiple go rounds in which the owner/​man always behind the counter claimed it impossible to issue a refund (lie # 1) and insisted he could now clean the dress properly — an offer I refused seeing as it was not cleaned the first time — he claimed to remember my dress (lie # 2) and that it was «too dirty to clean» (lie # 3 — see lie # 1).
Exasperated with the B.S. I examined him about the other item I dropped off with my dress (he lied there too saying it was only the dress when there had been a second item) to expose lie #2. Then I asked why, if my dress was «too dirty to clean,» did he take my money in the first place and how it was he could now properly clean the «too dirty to clean» dress.
Anyway the scene involved him yelling at my husband and I because we wanted him to be honest and stand behind his work. Finally he threw $ 10 at me and said «you’re not my customer.»
Duh — that’s what I’d been trying to impress upon him all along — I’m no longer his customer. And I hope you won’t be either.

This is my first review on any company ever! but do not ever, ever use this dry cleaners. Like the other reviews, it is way overpriced to begin with. I brought in a dress that I had just purchased from The Loft in Horton Plaza. It had never been dry cleaned before. It was black on the bottom with a white/​black filigree pattern on the top. When I picked it up, I noticed there were some gray spots on the top part. Also, the hook and eye were mangled — like it had actually gone through a washing machine. The man there told me the color bleeding was a manufacturer’s issue/​defect. To give him the benefit, and at his suggestion, I took the dress back to The Loft. Coincidentally, I spoke with a saleswoman at The Loft who said she actually had that same dress and that it had been dry cleaned a number of times without any problem. The other saleswomen there said that The Loft had never had a customer return this dress because of a color bleed after dry cleaning. When I relayed this info to Arya, of course he refused to give me my money back — I actually paid Arya to ruin my dress. Then, he basically called me a liar saying that this was not the first time the dress had been dry cleaned. Awful service, overpriced — and they don’t even do a job well enough to earn it– and awful customer service. I just about gasped when I saw the advertisement outside the shop soliciting women to bring in their wedding gowns!

Entered Arya due to a wardrobe emergency. My top was falling down and it was a bit too early in the morning to be making such a dramatic fashion statement. The man I encountered at the counter was delightful, professional and accomidating. He offered me safety pins and a private room to make adjustments. I was only visiting on biz and didnt get a chance to utalize the full spectrum of Arya service s– but the customer service is awesome — and the safety pins are solid ;)

I really wanted to like this place. The proprietor is very nice and helpful and the location is convenient. But they definitely overcharge! Each time I pick up an order the price seems unreasonably high. Today, the man tried to explain that all of the men’s shirts I had cleaned had «special buttons» that required special treatment. I’m sorry, but there’s nothing special about the buttons on a $ 20 H&M shirt that requires charging double. I know when I’m being ripped off.

Took a shirt in to get the button fixed, but not cleaned (it was already clean). After I got back from being out of town for a week, the shirt was not ready because it had been sent to be cleaned accidentally. OK, mistakes happen. I was told to come in the next day or so and it’d be ready. I do that, and still not there. They say 1 more day. Next day, still not there. The shirt is lost. I describe it so they can search the cleaning facility. Next day should be ready. Nope. Finally, the fifth time I come in they have found my shirt. After all this inconvenience, I politely suggest, without raising my voice, that I should not have to pay. The «gentleman» agrees, on the condition that I should never come back to the store again. He threw away my business over a $ 4 job. I could have forgiven all the mistakes, but that last part blew me away. If you want a dry cleaner where the customer is always wrong, try these guys.

I’ve taken my stuff here in the past, switched to two other places because they were more convenient, but have no switched back to Arya. The work at one place was shoddy and the other place charged me for work he shouldn’t have charged for.
My past experience with Arya has been good. The only downside is their prices are higher than other places. But I guess you get what you pay for. I’ve never had a complaint about their work, and your clothes come back very well pressed and packaged. I found a much cheaper place, but their work was shoddy, so I left them. I don’t think I’ll have that problem with Arya.
The gentleman who’s usually at the front counter is also very nice and a true gentleman.
Sure, this place is a pain to get to because you basically have to fight for street parking, but they are open on Saturdays and that can take some of the bite out of that. Anyway, I’m a fan of Arya and I’ll keep going back until I move away for work.

I went to this cleaners to get a knit dress hemmed. The older man in there (the tailor) wanted $ 18 dollars to hem the dress! (The dress was not lined.) I was able to negotiate down to $ 13. So then I put the dress on so that he could see how much it needed to be hemmed. Then he says «it’s not worth me doing it for $ 13 dollars.» So I changed and walked out the door with my dress in hand. So in this economy this guy obviously does not need the business. I will never return and it’s too bad for them because at 5’1″ I am a tailor’s dream. There are many other tailor’s in downtown SD so don’t bother going here.

Matthew had exceptional customer service and his tailoring on my boyfriends peacoat was beyond all expectations. He was extrememly professional and provided a lot of useful information. We will be customers for at Arya for the length of our residency in SD.

I’ve always had a good experience here. The owner is super friendly and is always on time and has even learned my name and gives me a nice sense of being a local in the neighborhood. They do a good job with dry cleaning and I’ve gone here for tailoring too which was OK.
It’s in a convenient location if you live in downtown and can walk here, not so much if you drive here and need to find parking. That’s tough.
Otherwise overall I rate this place 4 stars.

I’ve gone here for dry cleaning only I have yet to use their tailoring services.
They have reasonable prices and they’ve always been very attentive and nice. I’ve never come by a rude employee and my dry cleaning has always been done professionally.
Super convenient if you live downtown as its in a good location. Its easy to get in and get out on your way!

Bite me, Arya Cleaners. If the sign says you open at 7:30 and at 7:45, there’s still no sign of life, well, that’s one potential customer lost for good.
