My husband went to visit George for the first time while we were on vacation at San Diego. This barber shop locates next to the iron-bar liquor shop. It did not look appealing for the first time. Can you believe this? The owner George has tons of opera books in his shop! it turned out that he even volunteered as an extra at San Diego opera house for many of their major productions for his love in Opera! I know I started to like this unique barber before my husband hair cut verdict. Well, My husband has a history of not liking his barbers or hair stylist anywhere he goes. Therefore, I was waiting for his response after his hair cut. George took his time to cut my husband’s hair(1 hour) and he surely looks like an executive again. My husband loves the new haircut so much thy he gave extra tips to George and vowed to return again next time when we visit the town. I guess this barber shop has surpassed my husband’s critical exam.

Needed a barber on short notice, since mine was booked, and George was able to squeeze me in. He is a great barber who really knows his stuff. Good cut the first visit is impressive and listened to my feedback to make sure I was satisfied. On top of that he is great with a straight-blade and cleaned up my neck and ears very nicely. He does talk at you quite a bit. Sometimes the talk is hilarious — his rant against cell phones — other times its just everyday small talk. However, I am fine with that while getting a cut. Plus, the true redemption of all of this is the fantastic opera music playing in the background sets a nice scene and makes the place feel warm. Top it off with a nice shoulder massage and you have a great experience. I will definitely be using this place as a back-up to my barber.

George is a barber. He has pride in his craft and an up-beat personality. The best news is that my wife also liked my haircut. Strongly suggest that you call to make an appointment.

So I was tired of overpriced haircuts $ 50+ for women with long hair. I decided to try a cheaper route– George at the Barber of Seville. Good prices, friendly and cute old fashioned barber shop, very charming. I specifically asked George if he cuts women’s hair much and he said he had quite a few women clients with long hair. So great right? Wrong! He didn’t listened to what I wanted, made me sit in an uncomfortable wire chair with no cushion and then stand up the rest of the time! Now I know I am paying only $ 20 for a haircut, but I think I deserve a comfortable chair to sit in. So I told George that I wanted to get rid of the split ends and he did in a perfect straight line, blunt like a five year old’s cut. He said I think it looks nice and I told him I didn’t like that look. So he ‘attempted’ to fix it, but didn’t really and it looked the same. He said it looked great this way and he liked it, «just like how a women’s hair should be long and straight across“Who is the customer here buddy? I am! I’m paying for this service not you! He obviously doesn’t have a lot of experience with women, thank god I didn’t get the long layers I originally wanted. He didn’t listen to me and what i wanted! Very old fashioned thinking guy. Will definitely not be back!

Small place, personal service — what going to the barber shop was like back when I was a kid(but now I can appreciate it more). Good price, great cut, and intelligent conversation to boot. I’d been going to the same barber for over 20 years, but after I moved I had to find a new one. I think I just did. I’ll definitely be going back next month, too.

George(the owner) is a barber OG.. He has been cutting hair for almost half of a century. If you want an amazing haircut, radical political/financial conversations and a great shave you must see this man.

Old School in the best way. I’d been doing the supercuts thing for years and it was always a crap shoot. This is a barber(going on 40 yrs) who knows his stuff. He takes a great deal of time to understand just what it is that you want. Always a great haircut. Warm lather shave with a stropped razor, neck massage, and the whole nine. …and when it was time for my son’s first haircut(he’s 2) I didn’t think of anyone but George. He suggested we drop by a couple of times to just wander around the shop. let my son sit in the chair, and combed his hair. Just to get him used to the idea. When it was time for the haircut, I told my son we were going to see George again for a special event, and his face lit up. Great understanding of people and his business. Can’t recommend him enough.

I was reading some of the reviews for Barber of Seville on Unilocal. and decided to give George a try ! I made an appointment for a 3:30PM spot, but as I expected, George is so popular, there was someone still in the cutting chair ! LOL No problem, will get a Chai tea a few doors down and wait. George is a pretty cordial guy that explains what he will be doing to your cranium — and just like the many Unilocal reviews stated … «The Best haircut EVER!» and that is true for me too. I kept looking in the mirror(especially the back of the head) how the haircut was so PERFECT … never got that from my «Salon Hairstylist» … I know I found my new barber !!! Thanks George ! and thanks Unilocal reviewers !!!

The Barber from Brazil is the bees knees and the turkeys ankles! If I had more hair I’d go more often! It’s always fun to try and help George understand how politically misdirected he is!

Coming here was a unique experience. George is the only barber that I know of that you will have to call and set up a appointment with because he is so popular and his schedule fills up fast. I came here for a nice new cut and a shave — my first barber style shave ever!!! While getting my shave and haircut I talked with George about Opera(it’s kinda hard not too). He played some wonderful stuff I have never heard of before and explained to me what it was they were singing about. I found this really cool! My haircut came out perfect and looked just the way I wanted it to. My shave had me feeling super smooth. Total cost for both the cut and shave was 30 bucks($ 15 for each service). Total cost for keeping me fresh — priceless!!!

George is the real deal. Extremely personable, lots to talk about, and a damn good haircut! I’ve been getting my haircut in Chicago for the last 6 years, whenever I happen to go back for business or leisure. Now I don’t have to wait so long between cuts. Barber of Seville is all of my favorite barbers over the last 20 years rolled into one: scalp massage, quality cut, hot lather, and the little head/neck/shoulder massage thingy is great!

Barber of Seville is an awesome, quaint, old time barbershop experience. George gave me my first shave and beard trim as I embark on the manly quest of an empowering beard. Not only was he knowledgable and skilled, he was friendly and kind to a newbie like me.

I got my hair cut here when I lived briefly in San Diego, and I was very happy with it. This place is a cute little neighborhood barbershop, old-fashioned in a very welcome way. I find the name rather amusing. It’s hard to get walk-ins here, so it’s best to set an appointment, and they tend to be pretty busy. The owner is busiest. I got my hair cut by Eddie, who is not the owner, and I have been very happy with him. The owner is very nice too.

The real deal? Oh yes! George Figaro has been cutting hair at this location for 30 years. He is just a great old school barber. If you like your hair cut as you want it, lots of conversation, hot lather neck shaves and a finishing scalp, shoulder and neck massage, then this is the place. A haircut is $ 14. It’s really best to make an appointment, his number is 619−298−7863. There is another barber who comes in part time, but George is usually booked solid for a day or so. Everyone who walks by sticks their head in to say«Hi,» and George knows them all. If you like the old school barber shop experience, and live in the Uptown neighborhoods, you can’t beat The Barber Of Seville.

this review is based purely on my knowledge of the man who owns it. he is a cute little man who wears a newsboy cap, has a mustache, and wears a white smock. he’s the real deal. he’s a tradtional barber, he does shaves, fades, high and tights, has a sink at his station, has the barber pole outside his door, and his sign is made of wood. i’ve recommended people to visit the barber of seville and there have been no complaints. the barber of seville is my hero(well besides my mom of course).
