Charlie has been cutting my hair for years. I totally trust his judgement and haircutting skills. Whenever my twenty-something year old daughters are in town, they want to head straight over to see Charlie for a haircut. Charlie and his wife make you feel so welcome in their shop. It is always a pleasure to spend time there. I’ve never been disappointed!

I have had several problems with their free gift with purchase offers. Multiple free items show up in the shopping cart as if you are getting them all but then when you go to pay, they disappear. So frustrating! Customer service sucks, too. You actually have to email twice before you get a response then they close your ticket without actually fixing the problem.

this review is long overdue. charlie’s a genius with the skills of an angel who can magically fix and beautify and style your hair no matter what it looks like. sadly enough i had to move to berkeley for college and no longer have access to someone who can keep my short hair in awesome tip top shape. he was able to trim my hair during thanksgiving break and its back to looking completely bitchin. trust this guy. come here.

Charlie is great! My whole family and all of my mother’s friends come to him for haircuts. He is extremely friendly and a pleasure to converse with when I come in. I always call the day of and have never had any trouble getting an appointment. Parking is easy and I have no complaints about the cleanliness. Beware, he likes to exercise creative freedom when cutting your hair, so be very specific and always err on the cautious side. Charlie is very talented, even when my hair ends up shorter than I was intending, it always looks great. He also ends every appointment by calling my haircut«sexy,» if they doesn’t make you feel great I don’t know what will!

Charlie is an artist. I have been to many barbers in the past. More recently i tried out Sterling’s mobile barber for convenience’s sake, and it was decent, but I was never amazed. When I came to Charlie, I told him how I wanted the hair and showed him a picture of something similar and he went to work. His scissor-work was so blindingly fast that his shears seem to bend the fabric of space and time around it, and my hair flew off my head as if propelled by archangel Michael’s sword. At certain points, he’d step back and survey my dome like Michelangelo surveyed his block of marble before carving out his masterpiece, David. Someone in the reviews said that Charlie didn’t really cut hair the way they wanted, but I would venture a guess that communication may have been lacking. Charlie definitely has his own opinion about how hair should be(what great chef, tailor or any other worker doesn’t?), but that isn’t a negative, it’s a positive. After all, if your tailor doesn’t have a strong opinion about how your suit or shirt should fit, I’d say that he doesn’t care enough. He never forces his opinion on me, and if you want something different, you’ll get it. Anyway, check the place out. Korean is their primary language, so don’t mistake terse for rude. Also, the last time I was there, there were two cute little girls in there getting perms, so if your kids need haircuts, try it out? cheers

This review only applies to Charlie the hair stylist, since I am a guy and don’t really need much else at a hair salon. I have been going to them for haircuts for 5 years ever since one of my Korean friends introduced me to them. Although some of them maybe limited in their English communication skills, Charlie and his staff are very friendly, and they always make you feel very welcomed. Charlie does very good haircuts; he knows how to make your hair look good. All you have to do is just to give him some minimal instructions or requirements, and he will cut your hair to your satisfaction. I think back in the days when he was in Korea, Charlie used to do hair for Korean celebrities, but don’t quote me on this, not 100% sure. One thing you have to keep in mind is that when you go there for any of their services, you have make appointments ahead of time. As they have limited staffs, so they might turn you away or your wait time can be quite long, just like another Unilocaler mentioned. Their services are also reasonably priced comparing to some other Asian hair salons. Also, although I have only gotten men’s haircuts there, it seems like whenever I am there, I see other happy customers.

I’m surprised with a low rating at this place, also a review to persuade people not to come here. I am actually a regular costumer here since 06, my sister introduced me about this place. Before I visited this place, I’ve always made appointment so I don’t have to wait for so long since this place is always busy. Charlie, he does a great job since he knows what kind of hairstyle I like. I never try any pedicure, but I never heard any complaint from my sister about their pedicure. So, I recommend to call ahead for appointment.

I know that everyone has a different opinion, but Carlie’s been great with my hair and he actually charges less than other stylists… Even though he is not fluent in English, but he tries his best to communicate with me and others(that I have seen)… I did try other hair stylists around Balboa/Convoy area, but he is the best for me(based on my opinion)… Like any other hair stylists, he prefers appointments… I hope this helps…

Charlie cuts mens hair his own way that he feels like. He does a good job at it but if you have a specific style in mind, it won’t happen. He can cut hair nonetheless, just not the exact style you would want.

Thought they did a pretty good job. I walked in, and they started on me right away. And when I said what type of haircut I wanted, they did it to my standard. I didn’t have to explain too hard how I wanted it. After the haircut, they do a shampoo, although that was a bit scary because water was everywhere. Then went back and ‘styled’ my hair. I mean ‘style’ as in she used a blow dryer and a bit of wax. Unfortunately, I can’t give them any higher of a score. They didn’t talk to me at all, so all I could do was watch TV through the mirror. And when another customer came in to ask if they did nails, they simply said ‘No.’ Um… the sign says that they do manicures… hello? Rude. I’m ambivalent about the place. Not too bad, but not to great either.

DONOTCOMEHERE. VERY, VERYBADSERVICE. I stopped by today with my girlfriend who wanted to get a pedicure. The guy at the front, who was the hair stylist asked what type of service she wanted. Once she told him that she wanted a pedicure, he told us to have a seat and wait for the lady to finish with her customer. Fast forward 45 minutes later, the lady finishes with her customer and asks my girlfriend what service she wants tells her, «I’m sorry I have an appointment and I can’t take you.» 45 minutes down the drain. Why make us wait when they know they have an appointment coming up? I swear these people are incompetent. While they’re at it, come up with a new name. You don’t have the rights to the website. I’d give these guys a negative 5 if I can.

The 4 stars rating is for Charlie — the hair stylist. This place is located right next to the Soeul BBQ and is in the same plaza as the boot world. I needed a hair cut badly and decided that I should give this place a try. Charlie is so sweet! He is a short little Asian Korean guy that ties his pony tail back. He cuts amazing hair for $ 30. For Annie — Facial. I give it a NOSTAR! Inside the salon, they have this little room where Annie does facial and eyelash perm. I tried the facial once during a promotion that she had offered. And I did not like it at all. Her style and technique are rough. I felt my face was better off not trying this facial experience. She rubs your face as if she’s making the dough for dumplings. She does this same fan fingers hand motion over and over again on your cheek and completely ignoring the rest of your face. The eye area are meant to be done in a very soft gentle motion, but she pushes and pulled so hard. I felt I was going to get wrinkle around my eyes. She is NOT gentle at all. The whole experience for getting a facial is to: 1. Relax 2. Extract black heads 3. Remove Dead skin 4. Smooth texture She has failed on all levels. She yaps too much. She talks the whole entire time you’re laying on that bed. She brags about how famous she is when she used to work in Korean Town in L.A. She claimed her highest technology can remove black heads, but none of my black heads were extracted during my visit. Then she uses a hot towel to wipe off any oil and the towel smells bad. It smells as if it was not washed from the previous client. It was gross. For what she charges, I would NOT recommend anyone going to get your facial done. I rather pay a little bit more for a better environment and a better service.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Charlie at for the past 6 years and I can honestly say that I have yet to be disappointed. I stop by every 2 months and ask him to cut it anyway he likes and I trust his judgment. By the way, I’m a guy… guys can go to hair salons too! its really a nice experience, you get your hair cut, you talk, they shampoo and massage your hair and finish up by styling your hair 20 bucks may seems expensive, but your paying for more than a hair cut here btw, get Charlie if you can hes the asian guy with the huge biceps you know its funny… they’re name is but they don’t own the site… haha
