I work with Berger as a commercial customer. My employer uses a wide variety of hardware, and while we used to be big fans of San Diego Hardware, we have shifted ALL of our business to Berger. Better prices and most important for me — much better service. Skip the «we don’t really have time for you» attitude at the big store, and go to Berger. You’ll be happier.

Excellent customer service and good prices! So I did an experiment where I went to San Diego Hardware and purchased some door knobs first. Then I went to Berger Hardware to purchase those same door knobs. Berger prices came in several dollars cheaper and they provided excellent customer service. The Berger sales person went out of their way to assist me and even offered to key my front door knob for me so it would match my existing one. When I went to San Diego Hardware, they were very busy and I felt a bit rushed when asking for assistance. I will definitely be back in the future. Note that they are going through a remodel right now so the showroom is not in that great of shape, but they still had a nice selection of products and like I mentioned before they’ve got better prices.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE. Nothing fancy, but they know their stuff. We had a long list of items to get for our remodel. We had a ton of questions. Cheryl took her time, gave us a ton of options and answered MANY questions. The prices are HALF THE PRICE OF SAN DIEGO HARDWARE. We found doorknobs, drawer pulls, door stops, everything a 1920’s house needs to have replaced at some point in time. the store front signage is on 30^th street, but you enter the building through the alley.

The best! I was referred to Berger by my contractor and found exactly what I needed. Great customer service and the best prices in town. I will never go anywhere else before checking in with Berger first.

Even though I live nearby, I had never heard of this company but found them on Unilocal when looking for cabinet hardware for a kitchen remodel. They may not have the largest range on display, but the ones they have are very well made, extremely reasonably priced, and the staff know their stuff. I purchased some elegant hardware for a fraction of the price of what it would have cost at San Diego Hardware or Restoration Hardware (and it’s also so nice to be able to buy from a local, family owned business)

They now say «Hello» instead of «Can I help you?». Thank you for listening to your customers! It is a much more pleasant experience!

So glad I found you! I have gone to both the big box stores and your competing hardware store but have not found the selection, value and customer service you offer. Do yourselves a favor and shop here before/​instead of going to other stores. Great Quality products, exemplary customer service and extraordinary value — what more can you ask for? I started shopping at Berger Hardware several years ago on the recommendation of a contractor I was working with and 2 houses later I find myself driving down from Orange County to shop there because the people there always have good ideas and take the time to share them! Prices are great as well!

As both a general contractor and finish carpentry contractor (37 years experience and I’m still hanging doors myself), I appreciate a place that has not only a wide selection but a selection of the odd and difficult to find items. The people are very friendly (including the old cat that has been there as long as I have been patronizing the store) and, perhaps even more importantly, very knowledgeable. But let’s admit it, what is most important to the majority of clients is the pricing, and they beat Dixieline and Home Depot without breaking a sweat, and that’s with a selection ranging from the cheap and inexpensive to the highest quality lines.
Over the years, I’ve been to some great supply houses with great selections and prices but sometimes I see the occasional homeowner ill-​treated or ignored. That won’t happen here. I’ve noticed homeowners and other people not in the trades treated with the same care and respect as a large builder, though Berger does specialize in selling to the trades.
I can recommend Berger without reservation.

I came today a little after one in the afternoon and the doors were locked. I peeked inside and all the lights were on (but I couldn’t see any people) and there wasn’t any sort of sign that said «out to lunch,» so I just turned around and left. It’s really unfortunate that I couldn’t even get inside the store because their reviews so far have been really positive, but when the doors are still locked five and a half hours after open, that speaks volumes about the sort of service you can expect.

Berger Hardware was a wonderful breath of fresh air after our very bad experience with San Diego Hardware earlier. After telling a contractor our tale of woe regarding San Diego Hardware, he recommended Berger Hardware for a large project we had planned. We were not disappointed!
Great selection, competitively priced, and customer service rarely found! These people are great, and the door locks and handles they recommended are the best I have seen anywhere.

Berger has the lowest prices and outstanding customer service. Eric went out of his way to find me the perfect retrofit hardware for an old door, after San Diego Hardware and Home Depot had given up. These folks are an absolute pleasure to work with! They have a great selection of door hardware, cabinet pulls, door hinges, and bathroom hardware accessories. They are wonderfully friendly and their customer service always surpasses my expectations.
