Breezaire

I bought a split system Breeze Aire wine cooler and was disappointed when it started malfunctioning just a few months after installation. I called the company and asked for help and was told if I removed the unit and returned it to them they’d send me a new one. Are you kidding, the condenser was bolted outside on a concrete slab and the wine cooler was built into my wine cellar wall and finished in a nice wood trim. I had three wine companies try and figure out why the cooler kept breaking down and finally after spending way more on servicing fees then the unit cost, I called Breezaire again to see if they would provide me with a new unit at a discounted cost and I would send them the old unit. I was informed by Karl that «Breezaire only distributes products to vendors, they don’t service them». This basically meant sorry you got a lemon figure it out yourself! I can’t recommend Breezaire to anyone as they don’t stand by their products. I’ve built two homes and all of my appliance companies are helpful when issues arise. Run away from this company.

Breezaire products are less expensive than others but are not worth installing. In 2004, I purchased two wine storage cabinets, both with WKCE 1060 units. One began to fail within 5 years. It had apparently lost refrigerant and began freezing up. Both units were replaced shortly thereafter for the same reason, with WKCE 2200 units on the theory that they were rated for higher BTU service and would last longer. Now one has failed at less than four (4) years. Same thing, loss of refrigerant and is freezing up. These operate in an air conditioned, clean environment. I also built a permanent wine cellar in 2009 and installed a WKE4000. This failed in 2014, short of its 5 year service date. So that is four failures, out of five units in four to five years. That is enough data for me. When you buy these, just know it is not a once in a lifetime purchase.

Unfortunately, I didn’t experience a lot of help when I called and emailed. I live 25 miles away, but for the most part they directed me to a repair service guy for both buying parts or servicing. I confirmed that this guy was the only option in San Diego. (The guy is very nice & professional!) Unfortunately, the option to try to fix the unit myself didn’t appear to be feasible and I didn’t want to spend $ 200-​$ 300 on a 9-​yr old unit. I purchased a replacement unit from a competitor.

Karl and his team provide excellent customer service. They are immediately responsive, extremely knowledgeable, prompt and honest. There is no sales pitch here. They know what is wrong and they fix it. Period.
Breezaire makes a perfect product, so why wouldn’t they have a perfect team to back it up.

These guys sell cooling units for wine storage. Recently my cooling unit stopped working. I called these guys up, a quick diagnosis was done over the phone. When the parts arrived they had YouTube videos that detailed all the steps for the repair. I was able to do the fix myself in 10 minutes. Great customer service.
