C Street Salon has the pleasant, modest feel of a neighborhood business. The owner was gracious and easy. Allana, the esthetician, accommodated my schedule as a visitor staying in a nearby hotel, and did an efficient, and really lovely, job with a pedicure and manicure.

Tom is very professional, took his time to make sure color came out just the way I wanted it. Has a sense of humor, polite, great customer service. Tom goes above & beyond. I highly recommend him.

Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers whose positive reviews brought me here.
They’ve recently undergone a remodel, and now it is much nicer inside.
Lilia, the owner, cuts my hair. She takes the necessary amount of time to do what I want, without any rush. Average cut takes about 30 minutes, plus another 10 minutes for shampoo & head massage.
There are plenty of guys who just walk in, but it’s best to make an appointment, especially if you want to see Lilia, and/​or not have to wait/​return.

Even though I was a walk-​in they were able to see me almost immediately. The young lady who cut my hair was fast and efficient. I gave her very little input, essentially just relaying the demands my girlfriend had given me. «I really want the sides and back short so it’s not on my collar, but my girlfriend likes it long. Can you figure something out?»
The shampoo was nice. Not a SUPER long head massage but still nice. That’s always my favorite part. Total cost was $ 20 plus $ 5 tip for being fast and paying attention to detail. I’ll definitely go back here since it’s close to work.
The facility appeared clean and in good working order. Leather massage chairs available while you wait.

I’m new to the area and was desperate for a fix me up. I called and got an appt. within the hour. Tom hooked it up. Sometimes when you ask someone to just take off the damaged ends and keep it simple they go way beyond… Or completely change the style of your hair. I was scared/​skeptical but he kept it to the point and did exactly what I asked.
My head feels lighter, and less damaged. It was quick. He took such good care of me! He talked to me. Asked if I had pictures (which I didn’t but he still killed it) he was thorough and I couldn’t be happier.

I have been trying to find «my» salon since I moved to San Diego, and finally… I have found my salon!
Maria is amazing. She is the only stylist I have found in YEARS that was able to do exactly what I asked for. She not only was super cute and spunky, she knows her stuff. She talked me through color options, she recommended great products, and my hair looked (and felt!) absolutely gorgeous.
Another thing I especially liked about Maria is how confident and passionate she was about her work. I felt like I could trust her to do a fabulous job, and she did!
One last note… as I was getting my hair done, I observed a couple people who came in just to say hello, and remark on how much they loved their hair. And make another appointment.
I will definitely be back!

Allana did my silk nails. There is something special about her. She took good care of me and explained the whole process of silk wrapped nails. It’s really a art. She was funny and easy to talk to. The shop is so quaint and cute.

This place isn’t as modern or trendy as some other salons but if you’re looking for a friendly affordable salon in downtown this place is the place for you.
I had Carol who gave me a new cut and full highlights. She was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I’ve never gotten highlights before so I wanted a low maintenance but noticeable highlight job and she didn’t fail to deliver. The new hairstyle was exactly what the doctor ordered and I left the salon feeling fresh and with a pep in my step. Thanks so much for the great and friendly experience and service, Carol!

It was an awesome experience, Tuan really did a great job with my hair. I ask for a short haircut, he gave an honest opinion about it and gave suggestions. I’m glad that he was very patient with cutting my hair little by little because I don’t want it too short. I just hope he speaks more and make good conversation. And I hope the salon get a more modern look.
Well, to conclude it all, it’s not what I want, but it was better than that. I will definitely recommend C St. Salon to my friends.

I wanted to give this place more stars, but Tuan did not listen to what I wanted done with my hair. I have long hair and only really wanted a trim and he proceeded to cut several inches of my hair and when i tied to stop him he said «no you just have to trust me.» I ended up arguing with him and begging him to stop cutting because I seriously didn’t want that much taken off and he proceeded to tell me hat my hair would look bad because I made him stop. He did stop, but then was incredibly rude and wouldn’t speak to me the rest of the hair cut. When done all he said was «thank you.» Now my hair is way too short and it’s going to take a long time to grow it back. Beware.

Lilia and the Team at C St. Salon are my go to stylists when I need to look handsome. They pour a great deal of pride into their work and it’s a place that feels more like home than a salon. They do their best to always get you in when needed. I recommend calling a day or two in advance, but walk in and someone can usually squeeze you in. Don’t be surprised when you become close with their staff, feel the good vibes and get a great cut.
Fair parking (start 1st Ave, Rt on C & Rt into garage), but walk if you can.
Give C St. A try and tell Lilia, Otilia, Michael and Team I say «Hey».

Very welcoming, friendly, intimate salon, right across from the San Diego Concourse. It’s been in business 25 years, and definitely has that «old-​school» feel, but they’ve updated it somewhat w/​relatively comfy leather chairs w/​massage pads added. But a nice change from the high-​volume clinical feel of some salons.
I came in for a quick mani-​pedi on my lunch break ($ 32 for new customers), and Allana did a really nice job, and took her time (had to cut the pedi short, so I could get back to work, otherwise she said she’d add some scrubs). Might want to come after work and take your time.

I FOUND MY NEW HAIRSTYLIST. My previous hairstylist gave up at her job became lazy. I love doing different short hairstyle so I walked in thinking they would think I’m crazy. The women cutting my hair actually listened and talked to figure out exactly what I wanted. She washed my hair and got cutting, when she was cutting my hair she was careful and precise took her time. Which meant it took more than 30 mins for sure. She blew dry my hair and styled it (I got a Mohawk) gave me advice to style it. It was $ 22 for all that. Her name was ofelia or something with an O.
