While informally known as the Laurel Street Bridge, Laurel Street is actually a continuation of El Prado. The street atop the bridge is El Prado, and in fact, there’s a small plaque on the Cabrillo Bridge identifying it as such. Be that as it may, seeing the Cabrillo Bridge during the day as you’re driving on the 163 is a bit awe-inspiring; I can’t help but be impressed by it each day as I drive to work. But, for an added experience, try walking across it. The bridge is a good place for both residents and visitors to get their cardio fix, and the view from the bridge heading towards the California Tower and the Museum of Man(as well as the freeway below) is definitely eye-catching. If you’re going to Balboa Park, walking the Cabrillo Bridge is a must!
