The crappy part about having a café in your building is that it lowers the quality of customer service considerably. They basically have a monopoly on hot food for those who don’t have time to fight mira mesa traffic to get food, so who cares what the customers think? some of the problems over the last 3 years of working here: The cooks always start closing early(20+ min before 2PM) and act bothered when you come in at that time. If I come in at 1:59 and order something I would understand. 1:40PM should not warrant an attitude, when 90% of the food available is already cooked and just needs to be thrown on the grill for a few minutes. The cook will crack open an egg, THROW the eggshell at the wall to rebound into the garbage(misses 70% of the time and either lands on the floor or on the window sill), and then use the SAME gloves to handle finished food. Perhaps they use magical salmonella proof chicken eggs? Serving sizes vary significantly per day(stingy one day and generous the next) Cant cook eggs to order properly and don’t offer to fix them(Several times ordered ‘over easy’ and received hard and even busted yolks. Seriously?) And today, which made me finally write this review: There was about ~10 tater tots left in the bin and they are well overcooked(dark brown) I asked the cook if he can drop in some fresh tots and he says«I must sell the rest of these first». I reply with my complaint saying that there isn’t even enough for a single serving and he says«I can give you hash browns instead»… «So you wont throw in some more tater tots for me?» … insert blank stare from cook. I’d rather go hungry than give this place my business. It’s a shame that reviews wont matter much in the end.

they are INCAPABLE of putting the napkins in the correct way. There are exactly 4 ways to put napkins in a dispenser. And, there is exactly one way to do so correctly. [(upside down or right side up),(facing forward or facing backward)] It should be no mystery that right side up and facing forward makes the small piece you grab point out so the end user can grab one, pull up then down and have a single napkin. I have even showed the woman how to do it. Every day. EVERY. DAY. I find the napkins facing forward but upside down. It is impossible to grab a single napkin. It saddens me that this simple task is too difficult for someone. I like to imagine I could train a chimp to put the napkins in correctly and receive a nugget of monkey chow. I think I could even train a rat to identify the correct set up among 4 — it is visually apparent when done correctly because a tab will be poking out for the 1 in 4 correct configuration. Yet, this woman shows up to work and can’t take enough pride in her simple task of keeping the dispensers filled. She refuses to follow protocol. Is she a rebel? Is she smarter than the designers that made and patented«a method and system for delivery of a single paper napkin product??» NO. She is not.

Open to Carefusion EMPLOYEESONLY but since there are 15,000 of us and growing, I think we should talk about this restaurant. I’ve talked to many coworkers who hadn’t tried this cafeteria and it seems that most avoid it because it’s not far enough away from work when you want a break. I would have to agree with that sometimes, but past that point the food is really good here. There is always plenty of good«grab and go» but the made to order breakfast and variety of daily specials at a great price makes this place worth hanging around. Food in Sorrento Valley tends to be expensive so a really good meal for a great price is really good thing. On days when I just want something quick for lunch or I have to eat at my desk, I get the Turkey Chili or an Albacore Tuna sandwich on croissant(they’ll even toast it for you). Both are under 5 bucks and half sandwiches are just over $ 2. The salad bar is always clean and fresh. I’ve also tried a few lunch specials and so far, never disappointed.
