Me and my boyfriend have quickly become regulars at this amazing place to go for taco Tuesday. It takes less than 10 minutes for the tacos to come Out. The tacos are cheap and hearty. Julio has served us every time we’re in and he knows our drinks, knows the menu in and out, and makes us feel like part of the CJfamily.

Came for taco Tuesday: The Bad: No blender. No chips. The meh: Pretty small tacos, but decent price. Nice staff but busy/took a while. The good: Got seating right away.

This place was great. We were visiting for a Bach and came for dinner twice we loved it so much. Kenzi Hayley Isaac and the crew were fun and really chill!!! Try the machete especially the shrimp and bacon one but be ready for a large quesadilla. The bucket drink was also really delicious. Thanks for taking care of us!

My friends and I we’re excited to try this place as one of the new places around Pacific Beach. The décor inside the restaurant /bar is very nice we came in a pretty cold night and they had the fire pit going and had the heaters turned on which was a + The tacos are simply amazing the waitress recommended two of the tacos one had pineapple on it and the other one had carne asada the Taco menu is a must try and are to die for it’s a perfect complementary to the nice beers that they have on tap here. I will definitely be coming back with my friends or family to enjoy some more tacos and delicious beer this service as well with simply amazing.

Great addition to PB! Simple Mexican food done right with fresh and quality ingredients! Strong margaritas and an awesome happy hour that goes 7 days a week! This will be the day drinking spot for me!

Let’s start with the good: the machete(quesadilla) — we had the steak fajita machete made with hand made tortillas… This was delicious. Paired it with the two for one corona so that part was good. The décor and redesign of the dining/bar area looks great and is very comfortable /entertaining. Now, the bad: the tacos(we tried two) were not at all what I had hoped. The meat was very dry, and the tortilla was clearly out of a package: it was tasteless. The overall flavor of the tacos were bland and underwhelming. Also, the staff while for the most part(our bartender) was excellent and very attentive, the rest of the staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there.. I guess it isn’t a fun place to work… Lastly, the UGLY: we got the rolled carnitas and they were the worst rolled tacos I’ve ever tried. The meat was rubber and to top it off, it was way way WAY over cooked. It literally tasted like dust. We couldn’t even finish them. Also, the menu was bare and didn’t seem to have much options. I feel like they just want you to come in and drink and not really care about the food much.. I mean, I could Never justify going there for an actual meal, the menu and quality just doesn’t support that. Final thoughts: the food as a whole was extremely below average, the service was good, and the atmosphere was good. Let’s hope when they open the other side(the old typhoons) they can draw a large party /drinking crowd… Because otherwise we’re going to see that place sink quick. I say good luck Cerveza Jacks…

This new Mexican eatery with a bar and grill is in the old Fred’s locations and is pumping out some quite the appetizing eats. I enjoyed two regular size tacos, not the mini size street tacos, not that there is anything wrong with that. However, you certainly get more bang for your buck with the larger size. I ordered the smoked carnitas taco for $ 4, the grilled Mahi Mahi fish taco for $ 4.50, and a heaping bowl of crispy corn tortilla chips along with some house made salad for $ 2. I first dug into the fish taco. The taco came with a good size portion of well grilled mahi mahi. The fish was succulent and came with a light but reasonable about of seasoning. I like that they allowed the fish’s flavor to speak for itself. The tacos came with fresh cabbage and pico de gallo. The light crema that accompanied the taco as perfect. The put a lot on the taco, but its flavor was light and quite tasty. I thought it was a very good grilled fish taco. The cubed smoked carnitas in the second taco were bliss because the meat readily picked up the white oak smoky flavor, the wood of choice here. The carnitas were tender, had a great pork flavor, but most importantly tasted, as if someone knew how to properly smoke some meats here. The taco was simple, but also came with a nice pile of freshly prepared guacamole, that screamed pure avocado. I liked it simplicity, in its preparation, which was old school, yet effective. The taco came with a small splattering of chopped cilantro and onions. There was just enough to help the taco but not overwhelm it. The smoked carnitas were the king in this taco, in my opion. Next time, I plan to get some piled high on some nachos! With all the good, comes a little constructive criticism. For example, they need to make sure to get the food from the pass, to the table quicker, because my tortillas on both tacos had lost their warmth, by the time they reached me. Also, although the salsa was good, I would ease up on the cumin, so that there is no confusion between a Tex-Mex eatery and a Mexican eatery. Oh yes, more carnitas in the taco would be just grand. Let’s not be stingy with the good stuff! Service was pretty good. The floor waitress was sweet and the bartender friendly enough. The place has ample room inside and out, and they offer a dog friendly patio until 7:00PM.

Tacos are phenomenal! You have to try the Al Pastor and the Tajin Wings, they are delicious! Fresh homemade salsa and fresh tortillas are the best! Love the new décor inside from the football field grass and the huge flatscreen TVs. It’s called Sunday Funday! Service was very attentive and friendly! Thank you Julio! I would have taken pictures of my delicious feast but I was just too hungry! This is taco heaven! I’ll be back to try out the rest of the menu. Yum!

Three stars. If the salsa was free I’d give it four. You can tell a lot about a place based on their salsa… And they’re bathrooms… Both of which we’re sub-par. I mean I guess this place fits in with the rest of Dirty PB. Welcome to the neighborhood.
