Don’t get disappointed by the small shop: Charlie is knowledgeable, honest — never replacing parts or do work unneeded -, kind and dedicated to explain you as much as you want of what he repaired or how to best keep your car. AND, it doesn’t matter if you’re a woman, he’ll always be kind and honest — this shop was the best discovery ever!

I’ve been using Charlie for about 14 years now. I’ve taken care of all 5 cars that I’ve owned. I trust him with my car. If he knows what the problem is, he will tell you. He’s ASE Certified, so he knows a lot from the book, plus his valuable experience. He will show you any failed part. If he is not sure what your issue is, he will explain the best option for you. He’s honest and knowledgeable, and won’t take advantage.

Charlie is a very honest person. He will advice you the best course of action that need to be taken when an issue happens. My 2012 Honda Odysseys wobbles at highway speed.
Charlie looked at it and root caused the issue to problematic axles and suggested me take the car to Dealer (as it will be covered under manufactured drive train warranty). He will put our interest first before anything else. Most reliable person. By default I go to Charlie to fix any kind of issues on all my cars. Thank you Charlie.

I came download to SD two months ago, and referred to Charlie Auto Service. Charlie is nice and has always been very supportive. He communicates with you very well about your car whatever problems it might have, and he also gives you tips in terms of how to keep your car at best state.

Charlie is a knowledgeable, super honest and nice mechanic. He gave me reasonable prices and always very patient to explain everything. You will not regret to leave your car to him. He fixes all kinds of cars including (Porsche!!!) He’s very reliable and responsible. He’s also a very good Christian. I’ve been having a big problem with my Porsche for 3 months. I thought my car needed only the Porsche «expert» to fix it. Obviously not! My previous mechanic over-​charged me and dishonest about lot of things and still didn’t fix the problems. Charlie got it all done in 1 to 2 days. He’s the savior of my car. The place is not a fancy garage, but the work Charlie does is more than 5 stars to me! You will not regret any cent you spend there.

I have been coming to Charlie for over a year now. I was referred to him by one of my friends who owned his own mechanic shop.
Charlie is super friendly and honest. Best mechanic in San Diego to go to. Goes through the car inspection with you, explains what needs to be repaired now and what can wait, and does excellent work on your vehicle without charging an arm and a leg. After the repair, he will show you the broken part that he removed.
I would give six stars if possible for the friendliness and quality of service that Charlie and his wife provide!

Just went over the weekend for a oil change. Charlie, as usual, was great. He showed me the undercarriage of the car and explained to me parts of the car. While explaining, he found a nail in my rear tire and took care of it asap. Great honest mechanic… you cannot beat it!

I’m always a little leery of places where any one of a number of folks might be performing repairs. I never know if I’m getting a master mechanic or someone that doesn’t understand what torque is.
That’s why I take my vehicles to Charle. He is THE mechanic, and is as honest as can be. He’ll let you know if something needs to be fixed (safety issue), or if it is something that can be deferred. He also takes the time to explain the problem (s) and to detail the various options when available.
I’ve had work done where the total was below the estimate. If it takes less time to do the work, he doesn’t charge for it. And I respect that honesty.
Parking can be a little tough though, so it’s a good idea to call to set-​up an appointment when possible; but if it’s an emergency, he’ll do what he can to fit you in. Great guy. Very friendly, too.

Charlie is honest which is a rare quality for a mechanic!
Especially when you are a single girl with an old car and no clue of what to do when it breaks!
Charlie would always explain to you what the problem is, if he can fix it or not, and how much it would cost. He’s the best!

Charlie was recommended to me by a friend years ago, and I’d never go to another mechanic now. He is honest and helpful, very knowledgeable, he breaks down all the costs of repairs so you can see what you’re being charged for, his prices are totally reasonable, he’s super friendly, and he has never taken advantage of my blatant ignorance about anything to do with cars.
When my old piece of sh*t car broke down, Charlie showed me what the problems were, and explained that he could fix them, but he couldn’t say for sure whether the car would run again afterwards. And he was totally fine when I decided I was going to scrap the car instead of having anything fixed. When I was buying another used car he checked it out before I bought it, and has done all the routine maintenance since, and I’ve never had a single problem with it.
In fact, I’ve recommended him to several friends, car novices and experts alike, and they all go to him as their regular mechanic now. Seriously, mechanics like this are rare, and I’m grateful to have found him. Thanks Charlie!

i too, came here after a recommendation from a good friend. i was panicked when my car wouldn’t start. he quickly discovered and fixed the problem. charlie is extremely knowledgeable and spent time explaining my repair. he was honest, fair, quick, and a nice guy. he has letters all over the walls of his office from happy customers eager to express their gratitude — says a lot for any business but especially for a mechanic. i would definitely recommend.

A friend of mine recommended Charlies, when I told him how much replacing a motor mount was going to cost at a different place. Charlie, not only came in over $ 100.00 cheaper, but actually spent time to explain the repair to me, show me the broken part & brokdown the bill, telling me how much the part cost, so I could see how much labor he charged. I I have been back to him since for a noise I was hearing (ofcoarse the noise wasnt present when i brought the car in). He discovered that a couple of parts in the car werent bolted down. Since he was unsure if this would solve the problem, he only charged me for the bolts. As a woman — this is so refreshing, an honest & genuine family business. Thank you to Charlie and his wife for taking such good care of my car & my purse. :o)

Charlie is an honest car mechanic. He does good work and has reasonable prices. I went here on a friend’s recommendation and I couldn’t be happier.
His place does not have a fancy waiting room with wifi and he won’t give you a loaner. However, you will know that the man servicing your car is gonna do great, honest work.
Charlie is also fluent in mandarin. If anyone has a Chinese mom that doesn’t speak English, this is the place to send her!

I have been to Charlie many times to have my car fixed. As a female, I am often taken advantage of at other car repair places, but Charlie has never tried to make me fix more than is necessary. He is straight-​forward, very honest, and I trust him. If he says I need to fix something, I’m fine with it and most of the time he’ll say that it’s not urgent right now, but he’ll check it in a few months. His rates are very good and he’s very reliable. On more expensive and extensive work, he will call regularly with updates and explain his processes which I find very helpful. This further solidifies his credibility because he won’t make repairs without telling you which also means you won’t have charges you don’t know about. I have referred many people to him and almost all of them have made him their regular mechanic!
