Wonderful garden space. Very chill. Very European with a quaint neighborhood feel. Great soups and sandwiches not to mention the smooth mocha blend stylings. This is a must hit when your out of townies are dropping in for that San Diego mellow Sunday vibe. For reals, this place is chill.

Love this place and the people who work here! Get the DeMi Italian sandwich with pesto and you will not be disappointed!

Pros: The huge patio, nice atmosphere, not crowded, decently priced coffee and smoothies. Good for daytime and evening studying. Cons: My tiny«panini» looked like it was made by a college student on a Foreman grill with 2 pieces of wheat Wonder bread. Even so, it was tasty but more of a snack than a meal. Not open at night.

The staff is nice, but they either need more or need to train their current staff better. It’s over priced for the amount of food, which is okay, but I could have easily made it at home.

Good coffee and good people. Was very happy that we could bring Fido inside and into the quaint courtyard out back. The food is pretty good for a quick service coffee shop type. The smoothies are also delicious. Would definitely recommend and it wasn’t supper crowded like many other coffee shops in the area.

I think maybe they changed ownership or something since we were last here in 2014. It used to be somewhat inexpensive, but we just spent $ 22 plus tip for two tiny sandwiches, one iced coffee and one latte. It took at least 20 – 25 minutes to get two small bagel sandwiches. They also got rid of their awesome hot sauce. While the patio is still nice and relaxing, it’s not worth the overpriced menu…

Pros: lovely young man barista; clean attractive shop Cons: horrific latte, stale scone Burnt espresso nowhere comes to Starbucks’ quality, much less rising above the lowest common denominator. Mid afternoon on a workday should also not be the time when stale baked goods are sitting there. If you came here just to socialize, then all this might be okay, but if you came for espresso drinks and baked goods, you’ve been warned. I would like to like this place, in view of the sweet vibes, but the quality just doesn’t let me.

Came in here on a whim. Always walked or drove past it at night. What had me sold was the fresh chocolate croissants that are baked daily. So I came in and ordered a deli breakfast sandwich. It was delicious. I also got a chocolate croissant, that was out of this world. Gooey inside and they don’t hold out on the chocolate either. It is an absolute must to try this. We also had the dragonfruit bowl. That was delicious as well. Honey, coconut, banananas, strawberries, and dragonfruit that was nicely presented and tasted delicious too. Iced coffee is deliciously strong too. The outdoor is peaceful and nicely decorated. Definitely coming back again for sure, you earned my business.

Wonderful bagels and breakfast sandwiches! I have not had bagels this fresh and delicious in forever! $ 5 breakfast sandwich is ridiculously cheap! The staff were attentive and friendly and welcomed my puppies! The shady seating right in front of the café is great for people watching too! Be bold and wander outside your own neighborhood to experience this place — you won’t be sorry!

This place is WAY overpriced. While the ambiance is nice, $ 3.10 for an iced tea is ridiculous. Other local businesses and chain places don’t charge nearly as much and for larger sizes! Not to mention, if you want a breakfast sandwich — you’re going to pay close to $ 10 — but that’s if you get tea instead of coffee. I’m sure it’s closer to $ 12 if you decide on a latte. I quit coffee a while back, but when I did drink it from here, the beans were flat out disgusting. Tastes like its burnt, over processed… just gross. I’ve seen the owner in there a couple times(or at least who I believed to be the owner) belittling her employees, which would explain the turnover rate there. Customer service is kind of lacking as well. Normally people are overtly friendly in coffee shops, but not here. I never seem to learn my lesson though. Just need to make the walk down the street I guess.

Can’t understand why our food took almost an hour to come out. Came here with 5 people and they didn’t know what was in each omelette when they delivered the food so we all had to guess. And by the time our last person got their food, everyone else was long finished with their meal. So she just got her food to go. And on top of that they got our request for egg whites confused with regular eggs. Servers kept forgetting our request for butter and did not seem on top of their stuff. I would never come here if you are hungry or expecting to get served what you ordered within an hour.

Buying a sandwich from this place was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made in my life. And I’m in AA, so you know I’ve made some bad life decisions before. Never, ever ever again!

Had a really positive experience here, super friendly and helpful staff(thank you kind beautiful oriental descent young woman!) that totally trusted me to change in their bathroom before I even bought anything, and also hooked me up with the killer happy hour iced coffee deal :) Hazelnut add for no charge! Nice and quiet space, free WIFI, and cute outdoor seating too. Would recommend, thanks DeMi Café!

Ok. I’m starting to warm up to this place. Service is ok. Coffee is ‘meh’. Deserts are good. Food is so-so. It’s the back patio that sold me. It’s seldom crowded with college students on their laptops pretending to work but really surfing for free porn like they do at Lestats. This is my new grinder/scruff go-to date meet-up spot. No one goes there that I know, so I won’t be recognized! And that cute little Boston terrier. Adorable!!!

Update: Not only is this spot the best coffee and pitaya/acai bowls in town, but I can honestly say that the owner, Michal is one of the most generous and caring human beings I have met. Michal not only takes care of his customers when we come in to order coffee but he extends his heart beyond his store. Michal held his Halloween fundraiser for my students at MMHS and raised $$ to help feed/clothe students and families I serve. It is truly amazing to see just how much he is willing to do for others and for nothing in return. THANKYOU for giving back to the SD community and for always making Demi Café Café a welcoming home to so many. Thankful for small business people like you and your staff! I find myself coming back to Demi Café Café because I love their coffee and chocolate croissants which are my favorite. I also really love small businesses that make you feel at home. I know that whenever I stop in I will be greeted and well taken care of by Michael and his awesome team. More importantly they truly care about their community and have opened their doors to my students and families. I held a dinner in the back patio and it was so perfect. I appreciate Michael and his entire team for being so wonderful to their customers. By far my favorite spot to grab a latte and start my workday. Be sure to stop by here if you’re in University Heights or at their other location on Friars Rd.

Not sure how a restaurant these days can get away with not being ADA-friendly. I typically would never have noticed, but having had recent foot surgery, I was in a boot and have a temporary handicap placard. Not only was there no handicap parking anywhere near the restaurant, but upon arrival, the only way to access the seating area was to go up a small flight of steps. Not a big deal for me in a boot, but wheelchair-bound patrons would not feel very welcome.

My wife and I have walked past this place for years and finally decided to check it out. My wife ordered a BLT. She added cheddar and requested that the bacon be extra crispy. I wasn’t hungry so I got a blended coffee drink. When the sandwich arrived, it was one of the saddest looking sandwiches I have ever seen. In fact, that was the exact remark my wife had when it was set down in front of her. The bread was small. The bacon was not crispy at all. It had clearly been cooked in the microwave because it was chewy and rubbery. There was one slice of tomato, cut in half so each half of the sandwich got one half of the slice. There was one sad leaf of lettuce. After my wife took a few bites, I noticed that the cheddar had white on the edge. I ran my finger along it to make sure it was not just a smudge of mayo, but it was not; it was mold. I took the sandwich back to the counter. I showed the mold to the girl working and told her I wanted a refund. She offered to make me a new sandwich, and I said that I didn’t want any sandwich made by a place that serves moldy cheese. Instead of apologizing and refunding my money, she then went back to the sandwich station and whispered some words to the guy who made it. Then the got the cheese out of the refrigerator and whispered some more words to each other as they examined it, before coming back to the front and telling me that she had to call the owner to find out how to refund me my money. This was really frustrating because it meant I had to stand there and wait while my wife sat on the patio with my melting coffee drink. She then called the owner and I stood there at the counter while she talked to him for several minutes, again getting the cheese out of the refrigerator and examining it as she talked to the owner. She then told me that I would have to wait for the owner to come to the store to refund my money. Seriously!!! She couldn’t just give me my $ 8 back??? I went back outside and waited with my wife, who was now sitting there with nothing to eat. A few minutes later the owner came out and greeted me and assured me that there was no mold on the cheese. He said they just got the cheese that morning, so there is no way there could me mold. It was a Saturday, so I found it hard to believe that he had just purchased the cheese that day. He offered to make another sandwich. When I said no, he went inside and got the sandwich and showed me the white spots on the cheese and said that it is just dry and that is why it has white on it. I have worked in restaurants and know a few things: cheddar cheese you bought today should not be dry; when cheese gets dry, it gets hard and crumbly(which this was not); white stuff that appears on the exposed edges of cheese is mold. He was adamant that there was no mold there. He offered to show me the cheese from the refrigerator to prove that there is no mold. I simply told him that did not want another sandwich and would appreciate it if he would refund my money. At that point he gave up on convincing me and went inside and got me my money. This was an epic fail in product quality and customer service. If the girl at the counter had just apologized and given me my money, I probably would have gone about my day and not bothered to write this lengthy Unilocal review. Needless to say, I will not be coming back.

What an amazing place to relax and open up a good book and possibly finish it! If you want to come here to get caught up on some reading for pleasure or even do a bit of homework or work, this is the perfect quiet venue for that! A peaceful patio offers shade & a relaxing flow of water from the fountain. However, you wanna sit indoors, there is ample indoor seating as well. I purchased a cup if tea and a small cookie for a reasonable $ 3.50. Def would be hitting this place up all the time if I still loved in the area! Staff was sweet and offered to fill up my tea once I finished it if I wanted more. Also, she brought me the free wifi password soon after I took a seat on the patio. Check this place out!

I have been to the sister location down in Mission Valley with really good results, and I was very happy to learn that they are continuing the tradition here. I ordered their medium two shot Americano with a bit of room, and from the counter, a decadent orange and cranberry scone for only $ 2.50( ). The cranberry and orange scone was perfect. It a great firm exterior drizzled with a vanilla cream packed with sweet flavor.( ) It had just the right amount on dried sweet cranberries and pieces of orange zest that was enjoyed in every bite.( ) The scone’s texture was dense but very moist, and almost doughy in some areas. A great scone filled with great flavor. The Americano was very smooth and packed with good rich beans that had me zinging in no time. Service was above friendly and both employees had a great sense of humor. They also offer a variety of pastries( ), and breakfast items and lunch as well.
