Went there a few days ago for the first time and tried their ACAIBOWL with PB! Delicious!!!

What a gem! We were looking for a nice place for breakfast and stumbled on this little place. Wow! My son, who didn’t want to stop here, says they have the best waffles he has ever had. My pesto omelette was awesome. Served with fresh strawberries and grapes. Just a great place for an unexpected treat. I will go out of my way to come here again.

I love this place! The owner is very friendly and the drinks are excellent. This morning I bought an iced horchata mocha and it was delicious! Imagine Cinnamon Toast Crunch in drink form. One of my favorite coffee shops!

We love this little spot for a healthy start. Acai bowls are great. Organic almond coffee was amazing. The owner is always friendly. Skip the heavy breakfast food and go here! Very close to USD campus. Brought the whole family this time. Love it! Make sure you pet Michael“s dog, Demi.

Great Acai bowl, delicious Nutella chocolate croissant! Plus Michael is so nice. The complaints about this place seem the strangest: …$ 2 for chia? If you don’t want to buy it don’t order it! …Price tags on furniture? It’s not as if the place is all tagged like a yard sale, so there is furniture and art for sale… is that new to coffee shops??!– No, Starbucks sells all kinds of stupid shit at their stores and they’re doing just fine. …coffee grounds in your coffee. Do you know where coffee comes from? Coffee grounds! Lol Anyway, nobody complained about the taste of the Acai… it’s really good and a lot of places blend apple juice and blueberries into their mix and you can tell he uses Actual acai. The coffee is good, I drink espresso which is really the only way to rate a coffee shop. don’t complain to me that your iced coffee has coffee grounds in it… did you also not notice there are giant chunks of ice in it too? Gross, I’ve got an idea. Let’s water down coffee and drink it after our workouts because that tastes SO good.

Love love love this place! The French press and homemade chocolate croissant had me on cloud 9. The sunny yellow paint and comfy couches definitely made this a place I could hang out in for a while. Bonus, the cutest dog ever resides there and she is so friendly and will cozy up with you on the couch!

I have been coming to this café for a while due to its proximity to my gym. At first I liked it, as it is usually uncrowded and service has generally been prompt. In general, the décor is pleasant. I sometimes find coffee grounds in my iced coffee… which is never fun, but that has only happened about 3 times. I also learned, that if it gets busy, they really are not able to handle the crowd, making it almost impossible to buy my coffee. Also, with the $ 5 minimum for a credit/debit card card, there is yet another obstacle to getting a coffee. The big disappointment was when I had ordered two panninis to go. I had high hopes when the barista told me that he had sliced each one and packed grapes on the side. Unfortunately, the sandwiches were so thin and uninteresting, and I think they were about $ 6.25 each. I really couldn’t believe it. I would have done way better just making a simple grilled cheese sandwich on my stove. Anyway, as long as it is not too busy and you have cash(with an occasional cup having some grounds) it is an OK place for a cup of coffee.

Didn’t know this place was there or that there was another one on Adams Ave. It is a great way to start off healthy, everything is made-to-order, organic and they do not serve any starches(potatoes, etc). I got the pitaya bowl which was really good; I have never had dragonfruit and I was excited to try it. They use raw pitaya sorbet with fresh fruit and granola and you can add chia seeds($ 2); it was filling but I didn’t really get to taste the pitaya — it seemed a lot like acai. The place has a unique vibe and there is a lot for sale which gets donated to their charity. The guy who works there is energetic and friendly. I will definitely be back!

Quick tip: acai bowl doesn’t have very much acai … Good for what it was but wouldn’t highly recommend. Full review: I stopped by this morning to grab an acai bowl — I drive past this place a couple times a week, have seen the signs from the street, and finally bit the bullet. The acai bowl was not my favorite. The real mistake this place makes it a the acai to granola ratio. I typically like a 2:1 or even a 1:1 acai to granola ratio … This place has a 1:5 acai to granola ratio… Just way too much granola and too little acai for $ 5.85. It seems like a cute place and the guy behind the counter was very friendly but a few things struck me as odd about this place: 1. Price tags on furniture? Do people often walk into coffee shops and purchase furniture? It decreases the atmosphere and would recommend removing these 2. $ 2 extra for chia seeds? As soon as I saw this I new I was going to regret my decision of stopping in … If anyone charges you $ 2 for a sprinkle of chia seeds you know they are ripping you off

Coffee was okay. Guy working was friendly enough and had a lot of energy. I wanted to like this spot as it is close to an office I frequent around the corner and I have visited the location on Adams. My first impression was decent. You can tell they put a lot of time and love in this place and their food/dessert offering looked promising. I liked the vibe and furnishings(could have done without the price tags on everything). I was annoyed about their policy to only take credit cards with a min purchase of $ 5 which I understand is well within their right. I just felt it is bad practice so I left feedback in a private(offline) format for management. I received the following response which could have been a lot more professional and empathetic, so not feeling heard I am taking my complaint public. Really this just comes down to customer service. Two locations isn’t bad Mr Blazek however your business would be so much better with a little employee training and emphasis on service. A small business need not stay small. Here is our exchange: I wrote: «$ 5 min on cc is a silly policy. Just set your price to a fair average to cover your overhead, don’t put that much($ 2) margin on your customers.» They replied: «sorry for that, but that is our policy. WE had no complaints in 5 years so far. I am sorry, but it will not change… Thank you for your visit!» I’ll try this location again in the coming weeks and will update my review accordingly. Till next time…

What, the what?! I felt like I was in the twilight zone. The guy working that day was super nice and very excited to share information about the food. The chocolate croissants, he said, were freshly made. I brought 2 guests from out of town. One of them ordered the world-famous croissant. The other ordered a breakfast sandwich and yogurt with fruit. My husband ordered a fruit smoothie. Because I have celiac, I just got a pre-packaged chocolate gluten-free bar. Everything’s going good, I thought. Guy was excited. Food seemed promising. And then, The food came. Breakfast sandwich? UNTOASTEDWHITESANDWICHBREAD. The breakfast sandwich, as we know it, had been desecrated. Yogurt with fruit? Pretty sure it was Go-Gurt. Bright purple — unnaturally purple. Smoothie? Room temperature. World famous chocolate croissant? It apparently did not taste like a real chocolate croissant. We also thought it looked familiar. And then we realized it looked EXACTLY like the premade Pillbury Crescent Rolls with Hershey’s filling. Just google that and compare if you would like a good laugh. On the upside, my pre-packaged gluten free bar was decent. I have honestly NO idea how this place has so many good reviews. We literally laughed the entire visit about how ridiculously horrible the food was. It was a very strange and memorable experience.

I was contemplating on writing this review but it’s long overdue to an experience that is unacceptable in my book. We had been wanting to try this café for a long time just because it looked decent enough to enter from the outside and from the pictures on line it looked quaint and cute. So we decided to go for lunch… After we walked in there. There were a few people there. I thought ok I want to give this place a chance so I tried to strike up a conversation with the owner. He really didn’t try to converse anything back and I thought… Man! — Is this dude ever grumpy or what! I don’t know… Let me explain. After not be able to make a connection we decided we didn’t want to eat there so we asked for our food to go. I actually really had high hopes for this place because in the pictures of what I ordered looked really good and might I add there were tons of pictures of what I ordered online. I ordered the Turkey Club Sandwich! After we arrived home and while we were in the car driving home I could smell something funky. So when we got home to my surprise my turkey club sandwich was drenched in something. I smelled it and it smelled like vinegar. I was like WTF I can’t eat this. We had to take the garbage out to get rid of the smell in the house. It grossed me out so much I couldn’t eat anything for several hours. I didn’t even attempt to eat it because of the smell and what it looked like. Let’s just say… We won’t be back!

I am not quite sure when it will be socially acceptable for people my age to eat breakfast by themselves, but 2015 is clearly not the year. The man working was incredibly taken aback when I ate my acai bowl in the store… alone! Anyways, despite it being in a to go cup, it was delicious. The acai was perfectly frozen and the honey and coconut made it taste like dessert for breakfast. My only complaint however has to do with the fact that there was way too much granola and the raisins in the granola did not do well at low temperatures — they were of chewing gum consistency and frankly impossible to eat. Also, it was so reasonably priced it makes me want to eat acai here every day. Now that i am done reviewing the food, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the actual restaurant. I am very confused as to why all of the furniture is currently for sale. What if I walked in and decided to buy all of it? Unrelated to that, I am also baffled by the redundant name — DeMi Cafê Café. Is it twice as delicious as your average café? I am not entirely sure, but the acai is definitely better than normal.

Order balsamic dressing for Demi chef lunch salad. Got back to office. Wrong salad dressing. Called the guy, admitted he was wrong and made a mistake as the balsamic has raspberry in it. Said sorry. He asked how he could make it good. For an ½ order overpriced $ 8.10 salad. I was shocked at the size. It’s like a side salad compared to Urbane near by who has way better service even though packed to get in most of the time. Hence good service you always have a line of happy repeat and happy to wait customers. I suggested I come on for another salad and he seemed insulted by the suggestion and didn’t see the value in making me, a first time customer, that works near by and values places to go off the beaten path for repeat business. Horrible attitude unfortunately. I have to report to Unilocal,Facebook etc — buyer beware!!!

HORRIBLE! Skip this so-called café. Ordered a panini and got a vinegary-smelling sandwich on white bread that was 1/8″ thick. I could’ve made much much better at home. I’m positive a panini is grilled, but this cheese(have no clue what kind it actually was) wasn’t even melted. The other sandwich, a club, also smelled rancid and old. The guy bashed the restaurant next door(Peabody’s), so my further recommendation is to go there. Anyone who disses another restaurant does so because they know theirs is so bad. I see why they close at 2pm. They can’t get any return customers. PEABODY’s — here we come! _______________________ 1÷29÷15 — UPDATE — STILLHORRIBLE!!! The guy who owns this place sent me a VERY unprofessional rant, disguised as a ‘compliment’. It also was thinly veiled as a threat. I don’t know what country this guy comes from, but he is a strange bird with weird feathers. Whatever. You’re not going to get me to change a review that rang true in the first place! He was angry cause he knows his food sucks big blue monkey b*lls, and he’s a negative ninny. My only regret is that I didn’t take a picture of the crap he sold me, so everyone could see what he’s actually selling. The pictures shown in the timeline do NOT represent what he sells. His food looks NOTHING like those pictures. His food is gross! You can easily make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich at home and enjoy it more. Stay away! This owner is a jerk!

Little quaint place located off Friars road in a small strip mall complex sits DeMi Café. I cruised by this place for a quick lunch after rushing my way around busy Fashion Valley during Christmas season. The parking lot for this place is a huge hassle and luckily for me there was one spot left for me. First thing you will notice walking into this place is the décor( ), the guy who runs this place definitely took a considerable amount of time putting this place together. Another thing to mention is how clean everything is here, tables, floors, everything was completely spotless, don’t you love when places do that? The guy behind the cashier gave me a friendly hello and offered me one of their in house daily made chocolate croissants, but I declined. From the other reviewers, these things are pretty good but not today for me. Ordered myself a sandwich and some ice tea to enjoy lunch time. My club sandwich( ) came out quickly and looked just looked perfect on the plate. What appeared to be a basic sandwich actually tasted quite delicious. Perfect amount of mayo, tomato, cheese, and lettuce with some turkey, good ratios here( ). The bread was also lightly toasted which sealed the deal for me, great sandwich. It came with a side of with a side of grapes, but I don’t really care much for grapes. The blood orange unsweetened ice tea( ) was refreshing and tasted great as well. DeMi was a great place to stop for lunch, but they also serve breakfast sandwiches and a variety of pastries and coffee. After all the times going to NYPD Pizza here, I never spotted this café, will definitely come back again.

Reminiscent of eating in a café in Paris… not the atmosphere so much, although it’s charming in its unique way. But the quality of the house made chocolate croissant and my first Café nocciolato(small) with almond milk was an expensive, yet quality treat. Both came out to a little under $ 7.

This place is pretty good. I stopped in for a quick breakfast and a MUCH needed Venti Americano after last nights Unilocal Elite event in Little Italy. A great night indeed. I readily ordered my espresso and the ham, egg, and cheese sammi on wheat for $ 5.( ) The Americano was excellent. It had two shots, so it had the strength it needed, but it remained smooth and quite tasty.( ) The sandwich was pretty good and it hit the spot for the time being. It came with fluffy semi scrambled eggs which tasted good but benefited from a sprinkling of salt and pepper.( ) The chopped ham was good and added a well need salty profile. The bread was lightly toasted and typical, but a pretty good sandwich for $ 5. They also bake a variety of goods; including they specialty chocolate chip croissants. They offer a few seats outside, and some comfortable seating inside.
