This place is the best modern vintage furniture shop in San Diego… Their furniture is always of the highest quality… When they buy furniture that needs to be refinished or reupholstered, they actually spend the $$$ needed to get the upmost quality work done on it… All the employees here show 100% professionalism at all times and are very knowledgeable about all the products they sell. Daniel is hella cool. This place is step above the rest in San Diego…

We have furnished our mid century tract home with wonderful wares from Design One. They do a great job of finding quality, affordable furnishings and artwork. If you don’t see what you are looking for in the shop just ask, they have lots of wonderful things in storage too!

Mid-Century Modern to a T! Truly top notch quality pieces. These guys have done a phenomenal job of building a one-of-a-kind collection. Artifacts salvaged and saved from ruin. History brought back to life in our homes. If the prices are, «pricey» just know they are well deserved through their rare and timeless quality.

I accidentally walked in here while on my way to Mid Century Design. Here’s what I thought: Pros: *The furniture is GORGEOUS. Seriously, it’s beautiful vintage in phenomenal condition. Cons: *My lord, the prices are ridiculous. We’re talking, pretty much nothing in the store was less than $ 1000. *I never got even a glance from the guy working. He literally sat there with his head down working on paperwork. This was the primary reason I took so many stars off. I understand that you have a very high end store, but that’s no excuse to slack on customer service. Won’t be returning.

Wandered in here yesterday after going to Mid-Century on Park and was taken aback by the stunning collection. Seriously, everything in here is gorgeous, and I fell in love w/this brown leather sofa w/really interesting details. BUT… there are no prices on anything, and there’s a reason for that. You can’t afford it. Just stop hoping. You MAY be able to if you harvest your eggs or refinance your mortgage to get extra cash… When we walked in, a woman was asking about a set of two(very nice) low-to-the-ground chairs. The guy told her they were $ 7k. My husband and I looked at each other and knew we were out of our league here, but we looked around just out of curiosity. The guy working was really friendly, welcoming, and talkative, so we stuck around a bit(which just made me fall in love with a few things that I can never have). Quality products, more like a gallery(like Jasmine F. mentioned), very high-end. Worth a look, but don’t get your hopes up about taking anything home with you.

The products carried here are excellent. Fabulous items in pristine condition. The mid-century quality here is a major thumbs-up. I admired all the items in this shop. That said, the shop is structured very much as a gallery, which, for me, has always been a turn-off when it comes to home good of any sort. I want to see the items as useable goods instead of pristine collectables pieces of art, and so, for me, this shop falls a bit flat. The prices are extreme. Accuracy of attribution to the original designer is probably guaranteed, and the pieces are really in fabulous condition, but it all feels too designerly, and too inaccessible. And I say this coming from the perspective of a graphic designer and general mid-century junky. I wasn’t helped while touring through their sparse collection of goods(though I was nodded at at one point), which suited me fine, I suppose, considering the exhorbitant pricing. Deservedly exhorbitant, yes, but still, way beyond the reach of a regular Joe-Shmo like myself. I would instead suggest meandering two stores North to Mid-Century, which to me feels homier, more welcoming, and brimming with cool things that could actually be used and would fit into a functional home space. For me, it is as though they’ve taken the less-is-more mid-century aesthetic too far. So, all in all, it is indeed an excellent collection, but in too pristine and sparse a setting that it begins to feel like a museum. For me, that setting has nothing to do with things I will use for living. I like this as a place to browse and tour as though it were a gallery, but the products are simply too out-of-reach, both in price and in mood/feel.

If you’re a mid-century modern freak, such as myself, you’d be hard pressed to find a finer collection of artifacts outside of LA or the Palm Desert. A beautiful store with an outstanding inventory of pedigreed pieces. Not cheap, but if you’re looking for that certain je né sais quoi to finish your period-perfect pad, Design One is the store. Knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to, the owners know how to treat prospective customers and won’t forget your name when you stop by and say hi.

This new shop has the best in mid-century modern furniture and art. It’s set up more gallery style than your run of the mill junky vintage shop. They know their stuff. There’s no need to drive up to Los Angeles to get the good stuff anymore.
