LOVETHISPLACE!!! AND… I’m low carb! go figure. I order my dishes as a plated salad with lots of chicken. The service is excellent, and the staff always makes my son and I feel more than welcomed. This is a great little neighborhood spot. Atmosphere is cozy, casual and comfortable. Will always be back, especially when I really fall of the low carb wagon! :) Thanks Damien and staff for being my go to restaurant!

Why does everyone love this place? Sure, it’s an intriguing concept. However, they have awful execution. They serve this pasta in a bread log because no one would order it if it was stand alone. The pasta was bland and extremely underwhelming. This could be exceptional if the pasta was better. That said, people seem to like it? If you want a gimmick and you don’t have high expectations for quality pasta, go ahead. I got the sausage and peppers for reference.

First time here and had a great experience. Walked in and was greeted immediately. Great service and the food was DELICIOUS! I will be coming back soon with friends. I couldn’t finish my food but I can’t wait to my leftovers tomorrow. This place is definitely a new favorite. :)

The two big cons for me were that the sandwiches were unique and the people working there were incredibly friendly. The one thing that I would need in order to frequent the place more is lower prices. My husband and I shared one 12″ torpasta that had penne, ricotta, meatballs, spinach and a blush sauced all stuffed inside. The spinach and ricotta didn’t feel very present, and it may be they were not even there as I think about it, but it was still very tasty. The caesar side salad was average. It was enough food between us, but we aren’t big eaters and we weren’t stuffed by any means. If you have never been it is worth a try.

So the review has more to do with the quantity of the food they served vs anything else. I order the 12 inch Meatball Sub and got a total of 5 small meatballs. The sandwich mostly contained spaghetti and marinara sauce. The meatballs had a good taste but 5 on a 6 inch seems way more reasonable. Im sorry but when you order a Meatball Sub then i would think the main contributor to the sandwich would be meatballs. It costs close to $ 13 for the sandwich which should mean its packed with the meat and not spaghetti & sauce. Who knows i may try them again but not that sandwich.

I love you! OMG, I said the ‘L Word’ first. I have not said that in a long time. I’m not sure if I can deal with a long distance relationship. I guess I have to make it work since the first taste got me hooked badly. I suppose driving almost 2 hours just to be with you for 45 min is worth it. That’s how deep my love is for you. I guess you found out my secret. I’m all about the bass. love your buns, so soft and warm. It just melts in my mouth. I don’t I ever told you this, but you knocked me out the first time. I had one of the best naps ever. You have me like a kid, playing with my food. Slowly slurping you in. And just taking my time because I know that love can be fleeting at times. You offer alcohol, but I don’t need it because I’m already punch drunk in love with you. One of these days I’m going to spend some time in your small patio area. But for now, I don’t mind staying inside your small intimate space. Maybe on Valentine’s Day we can do something, you know how much I love carbs. BTW, I love stuffed pasta in a sandwich roll. No forks needed.

Found this place on Unilocal after going to a nearby brewery. We saw pictures and were like carb galore — YES! Staff was super friendly and helpful. My boyfriend ordered Mike’s Meat Lovers lasagna torpasta and I ordered the cheese ravioli torpasta with marinara. I guess the pasta inside the bread was maybe too much haha! It tasted a little bland and plain. We both felt the same — maybe we just ordered the wrong thing!

Kind of late post went w|my sister in law after a Docs appointment. If you love carbs YES this place is def the place to be. I had the creamy pesto w|sundried tomatoes torpasta, I added chicken. The bread the pasta is served in was so crunchy & stayed crunchy. The pasta was cooked to perfection you don’t even need extra sauce. Also ordered their garlic fries for an appetizer they were also very good. There food & service was excellent. And if you are a pasta lover you def should give this place a try. I will be here again soon !

I love this place! I first tried Torpasta at the UCSD farmer’s market and LOVE these guys! Super innovative to put pasta into hollowed out torpedo rolls. My favorite is the pesto with chicken but have also tried the carbonara and the mac and cheese and love them all! I haven’t had a torpasta that I haven’t liked! They also have a bunch(15+?) beers on tap!

Pasta stuffed in bread? You had me at hello. I know it sounds super heavy. It’s a carb fan’s heaven. In fact they even sell«I love Carbs» shirts here. I don’t know why this place isn’t called Torpedo but that’s nor hear nor there. They have salads stuffed in bread, basically a hollow hoagie(torsalads), pasta stuffed in bread(torpastas), and sandwich styles stuffed in bread(torpedoes). They also sell 10′ and 12′ pizzas. My friends and I ordered the carbonera torpasta, creamy pesto torpasta, the Unilocalwich torpasta, and I got the steak and cheese torpedo. We came during happy hour. So you get 3 free bread holes(garlic bread strips) per beer. They serve it with some marinara sauce. We all got the 6 inch. 12 inch would be indulgent or could be made into 2 meals! The 6 inches cost about $ 6 – 7 and the 12 inches($ 12 – 13). It took awhile to make so you may want to order some appetizers or bread holes. I will come back and try a torpasta. My steak and cheese was cheesey but not as flavorful. I actually used the marinara dip with my torpedo. It made it very tasty!

After seeing all my friends post about this place, I finally got to see what the hype was about and I fell in love! Pasta inside of bread?! Please tell me that’s not genius haha. When I went here the past three times the food and service were on point. I’ve tried the fettuccine, carbonara and recently the macahelper. The fettuccine is my go to pasta and the sauce compliments the pasta well. The carbonara is my favorite because of the peas and the ham with the pasta. I’ve had the macahelper recently and I love it because the ground beef and the cheesiness of the sauce. The pasta in all of them is cooked perfectly and doesn’t taste dry or anything. The bread is the perfect pairing for the pasta and I enjoy biting into it after tasting the noodles. The only reason why I docked off stars is because even though I’m totally in love with the food, I think it’s way too overpriced and also the location. For a full torpasta, its around ~$ 14 which I think is way too much to be paying. Also I wish they would expand to different locations. Sometimes driving all the way to midway can be out of the way for me because I don’t come into this area too often. Please expand!!! Also the service today wasn’t up to par. The guy was nice and friendly but after taking our drink order, he forgot a straw which we were waiting on for awhile. Then we were waiting awhile just to get our order taken. More waiting just to get the check which was kind of disappointing.

Service was stellar. Everyone was so nice and asked us how our experience was afterwards! The food is a wonderful idea, and is so delicious! The portions are great, and the food is definitely affordable. There are great choices for wine and beer. They are doing a promotion now in which they give you a red envelope. If you don’t open it and you return in January, you will Get whatever is in the envelope for free!!! What a great idea!

As creative as pasta in bread is, I was just overfilled with carbs by the end of the meal. I was craving for something more, but unfortunately it was not more of this. It was just simply way too much carbs, but this place is pretty cheap. Our friend brought us here to show us something new that SD had a pretty good idea of. Torpasta is literally a pasta sandwich. The same idea of a bread bowl, but instead using long subway baguettes, and adding pasta as the filling. I ordered a creamy pesto pasta 6inch,(around $ 7 – 8, which I though was pretty cheap). Adding the sriracha hot cause made it a bit spicy, but just as tasty. We also got bread holes(?) that are the same idea of donut holes. We got about a dozen of toasted(inside of the bread) bread holes, with a marinara dipping sauce, and parmesan fries. Realize hot much carbs we are eating before our actual torpastas came. The actual torpasta was pretty good and toasted, so it didn’t break down when you tried to eat it . The service here was actually really good, and the workers are friendly, and attentive so that’s a plus.

I don’t know what’s so devine about this place. It tastes like crap ._. The idea of pasta and bread seems creative but honestly, it’s a carb overload to the point that it is overbearing. I already got lost interest in the texture by a couple of bites. We order the pesto and the FAB, which is fettuccine. The pesto sandwich was very saucy which made the sandwich really wet. The pesto flavor was really light and not as strong as I want it to be. The fettuccine was worse. It has no distinctive flavor what so ever. It was bland as if it came out of a can. Both of these were a disappointment. I scooped out the pasta and try to see if it would taste better but it didn’t. It was a fail attempt in flavor. The décor was really plain and looks like as if it’s a fast food joint. There were trash around the tables and I kinda felt dirty sitting there. I walked in assuming it was where you order it at the register and sit down with your food but it’s a restaurant? I was so confused. The service wasn’t bad. They would keep coming and ask how we are doing and ask how’s the food. to be honest, if i said I didn’t like the food at all, would they give me something different or have helped us? Don’t let the 4 ½ stars fool you. basic pasta with bread. to me, $ 12 for a 12″ is pricey(meat not included). if you like that then by all means.

The service was great here. Wait times were not too bad and prices were reasonable. I believe it’s seat yourself during lunch, wasn’t really certain. I had the antipasto torsalad without the meat and spinach subbing the romaine, to try to make it a caprese instead. Unfortunately, I made a mistake of not asking them to make it vegetarian at the beginning of the meal, but they were super understanding and didn’t look down on me for it. They had it fixed in no time! It was super good with the bread being super soft. It was definitely a lot of food. I also had the tiramisu, which I won’t lie, wasn’t that great. It was definitely on the drier side, but for what I was expecting, it did its job. Overall, I would definitely come back here and try their pasta sandwiches, particularly after a workout or run. They seem to know what they’re doing and they do it well. Thanks again!

Very different way to eat pasta here. Its called the Torpasta. Came here for happy hour. Drinks were like $ 1 off and appetizers were $ 1 off too. Their food portions are big so beware. We ordered the bruschetta, garlic fries and Mike’s meat lover lasagna torpasta. Super filling food! Just like their slogan. I love Carbs! Staff were super chill too and very attentive. Highly recommend for those who want something different to try.

Carbs on carbs on carbs at its finest! Pasta in a hallowed out roll with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. The owners dubbed this carbalicious creation as the Torpasta, MMM! They have numerous Torpasta flavors but my all time favorites & the ones I would highly, highly recommend are the: Creamy Pesto & Sundried Tomato: Pesto, Alfredo over bow tie Divino: Bow tie pasta in Alfredo with Sundried tomato, Pesto, & Feta The Torpastas come in a 6″ or 12″ roll or if you want to ditch the roll, you can get just the pasta itself(large portion only). So what do they do with the bread they hallow out from the roll? They turn them into delicious Bread Holes. After your meal, do not forget to order your dessert & I recommend the Tortuga which is an ice cream sandwich: vanilla bean ice cream in between 2 warm chocolate chip cookies with chocolate drizzle on the top.
