Two notable things about this store: 1. They had exactly what I wanted. I searched several stores looking for a plain, navy-blue, two-button polo shirt, with no pockets or logos, medium sleeves, and a soft collar. Godforsaken stores such as Macy’s carry only«labels» so everything has a stupid logo on the chest and is pricey to boot. Banana Republic had something very, very close but they had to go and put slit pockets in all their polos this season. Lame. The Dockers Store had the EXACT shirt that I wanted for $ 28(or two for $ 40), and trust me when I say«exact» because I am very particular. 2. The staff are over-the-top aggressively friendly. Usually this would make me run away, but they were so guileless and ingenuous about it that I found it charming. I heard them both ask every single customer where he or she was from and then make small talk about it. And it never sounded forced or pushy. Particularly delightful was Vanessa, who checked me out and pointed out the 2/$ 40 sale but didn’t try to sell me. I don’t do a lot of clothes shopping – almost always just like it was yesterday when I know exactly what I want – so it’s nice to know that in a Dockers store I’m likely to find plain, affordable items and friendly, welcoming staff.
