Double Palm banks on convenience, that’s for sure. Overall the location and the grounds are very good. This hotel bar features an indoor bar and an outdoor seating area complete with TVs etc… This is a great spot to watch a MNF or TNF game after a long day of work. There’s a full bar selection with plenty of good beers on draft and a decent food menu. If you sit inside, the service is pretty good however, if you sit outside, the service is rather poor. I would suggest making your presence known on the inside with the bar staff prior to sitting outside. Other than the service, this is a convenient/decent happy hour spot.

I love that this is conveniently close to home, but I also forget that it’s conveniently close to home since it’s not often that a local would dine at a hotel lounge. We usually hit up happy hour at this place when we’re not in the mood to cook and when we’re in the mood for some cocktails. My husband loves that this lounge has enough TV’s for their guests to enjoy a few games as we nosh on some decent grub. Their menu isn’t that extensive, but they do provide good options. We basically go down the menu and order two to three items and add to it if we’re still hungry. Their Irish Nachos are basically carne asada fries. The Ahi Poke was a nice surprise since you don’t see that on menus often. I love poke and we usually get two orders since I can eat a whole serving, lol. The drinks are great, I still laugh when I see the Scooby Snack drink on the menu since it reminds me of the times when I’d go clubbing in the Gaslamp in my 20’s. Maybe I’ll order one the next time we go back so I can cheers to the many happy memories I had while enjoying that drink. Despite the newish restaurants that opened up at nearby Del Mar Highlands(Searsucker, Snooze, Davanti and Casa Sol Y Mar to name a few), Carmel Valley still lacks a ton of food options. At least the guests that stay at this hotel have a decent lounge to dine at while visiting this wonderful city of ours. Kudos to Double Palm for being a hidden gem for us locals.

Good daily Happy Hour 4−7pm with outside patio. Hawaiian Pork Flatbread($ 5) and Ahi Poke Martini($ 6) to name a couple of apps on HH. Stella on tap and drink specials as well. Worth a try if you’re in the area but wouldn’t go out of the way to try.
