Indifferent and argumentative staff. The front desk people are very unfriendly. Be careful with their billing. I suspect that they count on one not reviewing billings and copays. I was sent by my general physician for a preventative endoscopy and colonoscopy approved by my insurance. I already had my diagnosis. Yet they charged a $ 30 copay and billed Aetna 100%. Aetna had to contact them to demand they issue me a refund after they refused me. The doctor’s billing person kept insisting that it was the doctor who diagnosed my Gerd’s(?). My primary doctor had already diagnosed this and sent them my file. Obviously the doctor did not review my file. At least he was courteous in his routine. The doctor’s nurse was the only one that listened and showed any signs of being informed with my issues. This visit was a waste of my time and only required so that he could charge an office visit to set up a procedure with his associate and medical group. No wonder health-care is expensive. I am just over fifty, work out regularly, no diabetes or other issues other than acid reflux(just had passed all tests including treadmill cardio) and muscular with 25% body fat. Yet Dr. Epsten, recommended I have lap band surgery, since it would be covered by insurance. This did not seem appropriate.

Wow — and I thought that Drs were concerned with treating their patients, but apparently, the money making scheme that is American medical due process, has infected this organization completely. I just finished talking to the secretary at this organization and here is the deal: I am a student without medical insurance. Unfortunately, cash is not acceptable to these people. They require medical insurance and a recommendation(which we all know is an extra hundred or so dollars) before they will offer any assistance to the patient. So, as an uninsured individual — I am unable to get adequate medical attention for my heartburn, despite having the money to pay for the service. I guess I have to buy insurance and pay the dues to all of the Drs in the chain leading to a cure before I can get some relief. A special thank you to the insurance and medical lobby! Hopefully I can find a Gastroenterologist that cares more about helping people than being a part of the US medical field scam.

I am a fairly new patient to Dr. Epsten, but I am already really happy with him. My previous Dr. was no longer covered under my insurance he recommended Dr. Epsten. I had not been feeling well and I was losing weight and having bad cramping from my Crohn’s and Dr. Epsten to action. He changed my drug schedule, removed me from my current drugs, ordered blood work, had a colonoscopy, CT Scan, etc. He seems really determined to get my disease in check and get my out of this rut. His nurse is also super friendly and helpful and has been working with my insurance company on my behalf.
