Fables by Barrie

I have two swimsuits that I bought a few years ago. Amazing fit, just what I was looking for, and they held up thus far. I am excited to buy more this year.

This is THE nicest group of gals and swimwear. Period. They go above and beyond to make your purchase a happy one! Love love love them!

well, if miss barrie isn’t the most wonderful shopkeeper in all of san diego than i just don’t know. i was apprehensive about stopping in since many times these boutiques don’t carry a range of sizes, but much to my chagrin she had more than a few of her styles in my size. these clothes are made by a lady to fit a lady. two thumbs way up!

Looking for bathing suits and came across this place on Unilocal!I just bought an adorable one piece there today and can’t wait to wear it!

Was out to lunch with the boyfriend when i noticed a cute shop on park-​did a double take and nearly rearened the guy in front. Fables by Barrie is in San Diego?! I had sereral bathing suits marked «favorite» on etsy but was on the fence buying online.

The new 2011 spring/​summer collection is to die for, I’ve seen a preview and it’s so glamorous and fun! You will look and feel like a sexy bombshell when you wear a Fables by Barrie swimsuit no doubt about it. There is a swimsuit here for everyone, and there are cute shoes and pretty dresses too. I really like way the swimmers really seem to flatter any all shapes and sizes, curves whether you have them big or small will be flattered in a good way. If you are looking for something darling to wear in the water or just lounging by the poolside you’ll find it here. Not to mention you won’t get a locally made swimsuit too many places if anywhere else here in SD, that’s pretty awesome!

It had been less than an hour since I’d gotten off a plane from cold and cloudy DC and was basking in Cali sunshine. My companion and I were desperate to check out the hotel’s pool and hot tub, and so I Unilocaled bathing suit shop and came up with Fables. Love love love my bathing suit! Barrie was very welcoming and helpful, and had some really cute designs. It is… near impossible for most women to try on two suits and actually look great in one of them, but this suit was lovely, flattering in all the right places and sexy without being too much. Next time I’m in San Diego, I’ll def be coming back for something more!

Out of the corner of my eye driving down Park I saw a new boutique! The light was green so I had to flip around and drive past it! Fables I have finally found you!!!
Rewind the time back to a sleepy Sunday morning on the couch watching TV seeing a store advertising vintage adorable bathing suits at some party event at Hard Rock Hotel. I don’t know if I had missed the title of the shop or just plain forgot but after seeing the display mannequins, the news broadcast finally all made sense!
The suits are adorable and perfect at resurrecting the vintage style! The suits are quality made and aren’t a crappy swap meet knock off.
The lady here was so sweet and we had a mutual owl trinket compliment! I loved her little statues and she loved my necklace!
I wasn’t quite in the mood to try stuff on that day I went in but I can’t wait to go back and pick myself out something truly unique that is handmade!

What a throw back! These swim suits make me feel like Esther Williams in Easy to Love. They make me want to throw back some zombies by the pool side and listen to The Cramps too.
Kudos to film student turned rockabilly designer royalty here in San Diego, Barrie well done.

I’ve always loved the pin-​up look. There’s just something about it that is glamorous, classy, fun, and feminine. The bathing suits here have that pin up look down and you aren’t gonna find suits like this anywhere else. Not only are the suits different and beautiful– they are made well and sewed together right there in the store.
Shopping for bathing suits has never been a fun experience for me– I have a tough body type (hips and big boobs. and pear shaped) and I’m definitely not a size 2 so I usually have to try on at least 14 different suits in order to find one good bathing suit that works for my figure.
I picked out about 5 or 6 different bathing suits– both one pieces and bikinis and the first two I try on fit perfectly. Score!

Barrie says her clothing is vintage style with a modern twist and you can tell. Everything looks and fits one-​of-​a-​kind.
