I come to San Diego to go to Falling Sky any time I need a special gift, particularly for weddings. Izzy’s pottery is beautiful and unique. It’s also priced exceptionally well – similar pottery in Los Angeles would be 2 or 3 x as much. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I took a 6-week class and loved every minute of it. Izzy is a great instructor and works well with beginners. I wound up with 7 great pieces, two of which I gave away as gifts. The classes are casual and relaxing, and I’d sign up for another if I was ever in town 6 weeks in a row again.

Not only is Izzy a master craftsman, he is also a kind and talented teacher who guides newbies every step of the way. As a teacher he is very hands-on and patient which makes the experience non-threatening and enjoyable. He also fosters an atmosphere of acceptance and camaraderie among students encouraging then to help each other. Fronting his workshop/studio is his shop in which his own beautiful and varied pottery is available for sale. To anyone wanting to learn pottery, or purchase a one-of-a-kind item, I highly recommend Izzie and Falling Sky Pottery.

The perfect spot if you are looking to add handmade items to add to your collection. The best part about this shop is you can afford to get something! It isn’t some fancy art gallery where only the wealthy can shop. You can pick up a mug for under $ 20 or other small vessel, or you can go big and buy a beautiful large urn or other handmade piece for the big bucks. Izzy is the current owner of Falling Sky, and between his wares and the creative pieces of the other member potters you are sure to find something. A perfect spot to find a housewarming gift! I’ve been taking the pottery classes here for years on and off. The instruction is fantastic and at your own pace with a lot of personalized attention. Now I know just how difficult it is to create those larger than life stoneware pieces. Izzy makes it look easy. Highly recommend the classes as a great way to get some art into your life! It is fun to get your hands in the clay. Don’t pay shipping fees, come here for your pottery and support local artists!

Izzy the owner of Falling Sky is not only talented and full of local wisdom, but you can tell that he’s a genuinely nice guy. His charming store is full of elegant and inspired work. Most of the pottery is his — but there are also a number of other artists who display their work here. Situated right by the ocean — Falling Sky breathes good vibes. You can smell the surf as you browse the array of carefully glazed pieces within this intimate and well lit space. If you’re in Ocean Beach — stop into Falling Sky to browse one of a kind art and to learn a little bit more about the magic that is OB — from lovely locals like Izzy. Trust.

I’ve been strolling by this place for years and occasionally by pieces here from Izzy(the owner). Really laid back guy with a laid back vibe. I finally decided to take ceramic classes here. The classes are very small so you learn more and Izzzy has been doing this for 30 yrs. so he know his stuff. The classes are decently priced and last 6 weeks once a week for 3 hours. It’s so much fun I wish it l lasted longer.

This place is cool. I took 3 classes here from Izzy, the owner. The feel is super laid back and with small class sizes you get plenty of instruction and attention if you need it. Izzy teaches you the basics and then you are free to make whatever you want. Classes are 6 weeks, one night a week for 3 hours and cost $ 200. You don’t have to bring anything… all supplies are provided. As a bonus, the last night of class… when you glaze all of your stuff… there is a little wine and hors d’oeuvres party. Lots of fun and a great way to meet people.
