The sandwiches here are dope. Whenever I’m in the mood for some good old fashioned sandwiches this is my go to spot. They are affordable, tasty, and the folks who work here are legit. The sandwiches are like what my mom used to pack me for lunch back in middle school, so yeah they are really good. The lines are never really long, and you can usually get your food very quick it normally takes like 5 minutes for a sandwich which is very solid in my opinion. Keep making that good food guys. I’ll be back here for more.

This is a very unfriendly place to shop, the owners just want you to come in get your stuff and leave. They tried to overcharge me on several occasions, it’s a good thing I caught the overcharge. I have mot patronised this place in a long time and will probably never go back again.

I started working in the area and they are the closest to me. The have a pretty good deal its called the bankers hill budget or something. It’s a sandwich with side of potato salad for 4.99. It’s a very decent deal. Yesterday I ordered the egg salad sandwich with potato salad and some delicious spicy jalapeños and carrots on the side and it was very flavorful. Will be coming to this place for a quick lunch often!

I live nearby and the two guys working are super sweet and friendly. You always feel at home going in there! Also, the sandwiches are reeally good!!! I know you wouldn’t expect it from a convenient store but the«Park West» on wheat bread is honestly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! I would highly recommend trying it!

Just moved to Bankers Hill and read the Unilocal reviews. Decided to grab a sandwich and some potato salad… I had not eaten all day. Service was great; store clerks were friendly and they had necessary emergency items like clorox, ajax and sponges, which is why they got the stars. Both food items were delicious, but about midnight I came down with a bad case of food poisoning and was up every hour after that. Went to work and got sent home… something about looking green and hellatious stomach cramping. I won’t be back…

Illegally charges $.50 surcharge for using a credit card for any purchase under $ 10. A clear violation of California Civil Code Section 1748.1, . I told this to the guy behind the counter, most likely the owner, and he flipped out on me.

This store is really close to where i live, so I go there when I just need an item or two(rather than going to the supermarket). Of course the prices are a little higher than they would be at a supermarket, but you gotta pay for convenience. The staff is very friendly. They have a large selection of snacks, drinks, beer, wine, and liquor, and they also sell lottery tickets and have a water machine outside. I’ve never tried the deli(I’m at work during the week and deli is closed weekends) so I can’t comment on that. There’s another market about a block away, Bi-Rite, which is far inferior First & Ivy, so I highly recommend this store if you are in the area.

It probably isn’t the cheapest liquor store, but their selection is decent for being a neighborhood liquor store. If you really need some snacks or a sandwich, it’s also easy and convenient. But I have to be honest: the sandwiches are pretty gross here. It’s below-average at best. I recently had an avocado wrap here and I was regretting it. The lettuce wasn’t terribly good, the avocado didn’t seem terribly fresh, and the combination of the ingredients was gross. I regretted paying $ 5 for the wrap. Other than that, it’s convenient to be able to walk up the hill and get a six pack or a forty without a whole lot of trouble. You’re not really going to save a lot of money here, but you’re saving a drive to BevMo or the like.

This place is the best! I don’t know what that Amanda F. is talking about. They have been nothing but helpful every time I shop there. They even take special orders, like Gorgonzola cheese, aged salami, and the best bacon my boyfriend has ever eaten(and he’s from the South). They have a huge selection of beer and wine(on par with BevMo), and they even have specialty organic soda’s(that are local to California). This place gets a grade A in my report card!!! Oh, and the owner Sam, gives the best life advice to his customers: from marriage, to death, to working hard, to saving money. This place is more than a neighborhood liquor store, it’s a family run operation that feels like you are stepping back in time to a simpler place filled with a real sense of community.

Alright, this place probably doesn’t deserve five stars, but it’s been my go-to liquor store for over four years. Above average selection of cold beer, european imports and Norcal microbrews are well represented. They did a mini-renovation not too long ago and now include pretty good selection of single bottle beers and two-for-one wine deals. Liquor selection is good, and if they don’t have exactly what you are looking for they will have something close. I’ve only had the deli a few times, but that’s not the reason to come here.(Try the Market Place on sixth and Maple for that). Their grocery selection is kinda lacking, but what to you expect from a corner liquor store? All the guys who work here is really cool and laid back, and will help you with pretty much anything within reason. They new thing at this place is a machine similar to those token machines at arcades or Dave and Busters where you have to feed quarters. Only on this one, instead of winning tickets, you win more quarters and even rolls of quarters with 20 or 100 bills wrapped around them. It’s tantalizingly addictive!

It’s basically a liquor store with a small«deli» counter for sandwiches. It wasn’t huge but for the price the sandwich was worth it($ 4.50). The bread is packaged but it was fresh. They do have onion rolls as an option too. The meat was good quality meat and they have the usually sandwich toppings lettuce, tomato, pepperchini’s, etc). You also get a small scoop of potato or macaroni salad too. Don’t go out of your way to go here, but if you’re in the area and want a quick sandwich to go I’d probably stop here again.

This place is next door to my new office so I stopped in for lunch. The deli guy was real nice and offered me the daily special which I accepted. Their food is good for the price but with Little Italy right down the street, you can get twice the quality for a few bucks more.

I love this place, mostly because it is super convenient for me. Located just around the corner from my place, i can seriously walk there in about a minute. I tend to use it for a quick beer runs, but they are also good for many other reasons. They have a deli section with assorted meats and cheeses for you to take home or you can order a sandwich there on the spot. They have a fruits and veggies and breakfast goods. Also, a large selection of juices and drinks.

I think Unilocal has changed my eating habits. I usually get food at Trader Hoe’s but lately I’ve been going out to sample the local eats, just for an excuse to write another review. I’m sure there’s others like me. this is my neighborhood corner store. I tried the BBQ roast beef sandwich on an onion roll and it was good. Came with potato salad and pickles. All for $ 3.50 You can’t beat those prices. It’s even cheaper than the hole in the wall Papas & Tacos a block away.

Known as the«ghetto deli» at my workplace(don’t worry ya’ll, this place is clean, my co-workers are just too suburban to know anything about ghettos) this little spot offers cheap-cheap sandwhich– $ 2.95 to $ 3.50. Specials are $ 2.95, which range from carne asada tortas on Monday, philly cheesesteaks sandwiches on Thursday, and the local favorite– Sloppy Joe Wednesdays. They make their egg salad to order– two mashed-up HB eggs, mayo(I ask them to go easy), mustard, and salt n pepper— so you know it hasn’t been sitting around all day. Sandwiches come with a side of potato or macaroni salad(bleh) and pepperoncinis. In a time when $ 8 sandwiches are becoming the norm, this place is a steal, but don’t expect anything fancy or spectacular. Besides sandwiches, 1st and Ivy will satisfy your basic convenience store needs.
