A lost soul is only lost until it finds what it is looking for. Be it empathy, compassion, a sympathetic ear, a mediator, a provider, a friend, food, clothing, blankets, a message, music, or family, it is all here at First Presbyterian. Will’s messages are always excellent to hear. How he draws from creative, abstract concepts and ties them in with the bible is pretty smooth, yall! He can be heard on Sundays at the 2 pm meal, and Wednesday evenings at their community bible study. His wife, Marai is the heart that keeps the place pumping! George is a true man of service, and never impatient. I have no idea how he does it. Star, Ken, Lisa, Liberty… the list goes on. The staff here is so cool. They treat the homeless and each other with respect. It’s a cool atmosphere! Thanks to them, our family has never gone without. There’s a community lunch at 2 pm every sunday. It’s a true feast! You check you bags at the door, and they are always kept safe. There’s a separate section for families, but when it’s crowded, we sit with the rest of our homeless fam. Hot coffee, delicious soups, bread, cakes, juices! Clothing, blankets, shoes, toiletries, housing references… unsullied available, but it depends upon their supply. If I had the money, I’d supply them with whatever I could! Items go where they are intended, as far as I can see after 2 years of attendance. They provide cool music, and will has permitted other musicians(including myself!) To sing on a couple occasions. Woo! Thanks for everything, you guys! I know the homeless community may not always express their gratefulness in a traditional way, but you are appreciated more than you can imagine! You set a standard to be held to.

Excellent church. I have learned so much, and am continually challenged by the Sermons and teachings of Jerry Andrews. Very friendly congregation where I have made some truly great friends. Excellent opportunities for volunteer work in a variety of areas. Great Vacation Bible study in the summer, and a second to none Christmas Service. Great adult classes and events throughout the month. Historical and beautiful sanctuary. Last but not least, the music at First Presbyterian is amazing! Please, if your looking for a church, give First Presbyterian Church a try.

If you are interested in a church located in downtown San Diego, this is the place. It has an committed congregation, is a faith filled church and has ample opportunities for service. City Tree Christian School provides preschool-8th grade educational opportunities. Ladle Fellowship feeds the poor and hungry every Sunday with opportunities to serve. Every 4th Saturday is a military family outreach where many are given groceries to stretch their dollars. This is a great church for worship and for service. Jazz service on Sat. evening at 5PM, contemporary service at 8:30 Sunday and transitional at 11. Google for more info on their web site.

As believers, we go to church to meet God and to fellowship with other believers but the reality is that sometimes you just want to go to church and get lost in the crowd. At First Pres, you can do either. There is a nice, friendly congregation of older people and they also have a contemporary worship service for the younger people. Both services have excellent worship. If you want to be more a part of things, there are also lots of opportunities to get involved. The people are friendly but the messages aren’t very challenging. I’d like to see more messages that get me thinking. However, I grew up in this church, sat next to my Dad here, so I will always cherish First Pres as my home church. If you’re church-hunting and looking for a traditional biblical service, you should definitely check it out.
