Pretty good food. We stopped and took a chance. The chips were ok not great. The fish burrito was excellent. Bans and rice were good. Carne asada was very flavorful and the taquitos were a hit!

Been a fan for a long time and the foods always good, but I was at the drive through today, and through the window I could see the person preparing my food. Granted they were really busy and he was working hard, but he wasn’t wearing gloves. I saw him grab handfuls of steak, french fries, and cheese for my cali burrito, then he rolled it with his hands too. He prepared two burritos before mine, for dine in customers and at no point did he wash his hands in between those separate orders. gross. Is this illegal? I’m not sure. Am I being petty? Probably. But I’m not going back. How hard is it to wear gloves?

Overpriced and bad! This place used to be excellent. I don’t know if they changed chefs or meat distributors but it has done a complete 180. I used to get the best carnitas tacos here. The carnitas used to be thick chunks of pork. Now, it is shredded and fatty. Also, this location has some of the worst beans I have ever had. Taste like canned Rosarito beans. I would steer clear. You pay way too much money for such a poor quality of food.

Cheese on flautas cold, cheese in burrito cold, French fries in burrito looked old and the food smelt sour. I threw away both orders after one bite from worrying about food poisoning because the grumpy lady at the window who took my order mindlessly scratched her bum right In front of me before serving me my food. Gross.

Surprisingly Good Street Tacos for a place with a Drive-Up Window. If your heading from the beach and hustle and bustle of Pacific Beach this is a great place to get a Street Taco and dash home. The Fish Taco is really good. This Taco is for you…

Some college friends were congregating for a beach party at Law Street so I stopped at MXN for a quick bite on the way in. I stopped the car and walked in to get a lay of the MXN landscape. This California style pseudo Mexican restaurant offers up the standards; tacos, burritos, enchiladas filled with carne asada, chicken, shrimp, and fish. The menu is devoid of chile rellenos which would have made ordering a snap. I distilled the menu down to 3 potential options: a shrimp burrito in achiote sauce, Caesar fish burrito, or a veggie burrito — in that order. In Vicki’s world ordering is never easy. My mission: figure out whether the achiote sauce had chicken broth, determine the fish in the Caesar burrito, make sure that no lard crept into the beans, and ask for beans instead of rice whilst being polite and friendly to the staff. Results: The achiote sauce is vegetarian, as are the beans, and yes they will substitute beans for rice, however the fish is tilapia. Time to whittle down my options again: scratch that Caesar burrito off, I am not allowing tilapia to creep into my lunch. All signs pointed at the shrimp achoite burrito, with beans. Fast and friendly staff made the food very quickly, I swung by the salsa bar and got a couple of sauces. The burrito itself was a molten mass of beans, red sauce and shrimp and I had it all over my face. That baby kept me full for hours and I would order it again. MXN is not gourmet food, it is exactly what you would expect from a San Diego taco shop, lots of food.

After a long day at the beach, this was the perfect meal to fill a hungry belly! There was no messing around with this one — I was hungry and I knew what I wanted. Carne asada fries with all the fixings, pico de gallo on the side and a refreshing chilled horchata. Word of advice — if you aren’t a competitive eater, you should probably order it to go, even if you will dine is, as it was a of monstrous proportions! Really nice location, super clean, Mexican music in the background. Enjoyed it fo sho!

Horrible service! I go thru the drive thru & everyttime I place my order they can’t hear it so I need to repeat myself 3 times which is annoying, but when I arrive to the window they don’t greet me sometimes & just take the money with out also telling me the total! Today though was worse because I ordered & the girl who took my order was(Yeni) who was to busy talking with the cooks in Spanish she had her back to me & I had to wait a few minutes until she acknowledge me & told me the price but with no smile & I asked for hot sauce she threw it in the bag & gave me 10 which is to much! I kept giving them chances but they are more into talking with each other than helping customers and I am tired of being treated like that. No thank you

They are okay. They put milk in their guacamole and mayo on their potatoes so they are not vegan lacto friendly. I would not have thought to ask but 2 different customers in front of me asked if something or the other was vegan. Shame. :(why add unnecessary things to Guac?! Boooo. I wish they just left that alon. Would be a lot better if it was vegan friendly and lacto friendly.

I asked for potato flautas with no cheese or sour cream, substitute guacamole(due to dairy allergy) They wanted to charge me extra even though I saved them money by not using their cheese or sour cream. They said that they«don’t do substitutions» why? Its not made with cheese and sour cream on it, I also saved them some time by not having to add it on! This is very very bad customer service and the woman who took my order was extremely rude. Not to mention when I got home they failed to give me another part of my order that I paid for. They just lost my entire family as customers!

hubby ordered the La Paz burrito and was really impressed with the amount of shrimp they definitely don’t scrimp! I ordered the California burrito and added sour cream and it was pretty good but somewhat dry in some bites. We had a lot of fun when they turned up the authentic Mexican music on the jukebox! My kids had a good time dancing around!

Their drive-through has really shitty customer service. I had to say hello about four times before somebody finally acknowledged me, and when I did place my order I had to say hello if you more times to see if they even got my order. When they finally did get my order, I had run out of patience and decided to go somewhere else. Go inside for your order if you want to get it done right. To the people working at the window, clean the wax out of your ears. A person shouldn’t have to say hello five or six times for you to acknowledge an order!

I love the grilled chicken quesadilla and I always request a lot of the brown hot sauce. Chips and guacamole are good as well.

Love this place for what it is. No frills, quick eats, under 10 bucks and open late! Yes I give this place 5 stars for that. I did feel like the customer service was lacking. As soon as I started to speak in Spanish the service, smiles and the insider tips on which salsa tasted and was fresher began! You guys should have paid attention in Spanish class. :P JK I do feel for those that have trouble communicating with the staff. I don’t know what to suggest except maybe point? Mas=more Queso=cheese Crema= Sour crème Frijoles= Beans(negro=black/pinto) Si=yes No=no Lol, you get the deal.

FISHHOOK in the Carne Asada Fries!!! My boyfriend was absolutely disgusted when he bit into his meat and discovered a fried black fish hook. We ordered take out and returned it to show the staff so they could be aware and do something about it. The female cashier expressed no concern whatsoever nor did she offer a refund. My boyfriend advised them not to touch the food or the hook and asked for the Regional Manager’s number and a refund. She was hesitant and uncooperative and said we need to return the food. I offered that they are welcome to take photos of the food and hook but we are keeping it – if we get sick we will need to have it tested for pathogens. The cook inspected it and said it was just a Jalapeño stem. My boyfriend held up the hook and said«clearly this is a metal hook with a pointed end» and he tapped it on the counter so they could hear the metal ping. The cook then said in Spanish to the Cashier that we are just trying to take the food and get money from them. She then grabbed the hook which we retrieved and advised her again not to touch. We asked multiple times for a refund and the Regional Manager’s phone number before receiving it. We were treated with annoyance and a total lack of concern over a completely disgusting and dangerous hazard. Meanwhile, the cook continued to serve carne asada to other guests! I can accept that bad things happen even in the cleanest of kitchens and I have been a regular at this restaurant but CLEARLYWECAREMOREABOUTYOURSAFETYTHANTHESTAFFATTHISRESTAURANT!!! They had absolute control over how they handled a bad situation and they made things worse. Please read other critical reviews about foreign objects and bugs in the food at this restaurant, esp in the carne asada. This is not an isolated complaint.

Came for drive thru, and it was decent food. I got the California burrito and a cheese quesadilla for the kids. Service was fine, the food was fine, and the burrito was the perfect size where I ate the whole thing and it was«just right.» I wasn’t blown away by the California burrito, but it was good comfort food on the run. It looked like they accept most major credit cards, except American Express.
