Ohhhhh Ginger, you never disappoint! I have been here MANY times and have always enjoyed myself. It is a much more chill, lounge environment compared to the hustle and bustle upstairs, but that’s part of the beauty of it! I love that they usually have some kind of entertainment down there. My all-time favorite was Danny Morgan!!! The guy was freaking HILARIOUS!!! I have been trying to track him down so I could see him perform again but I have not had any luck. Gingers, help me find him again or book him to play there!

I always have so much fun when I go to Gingers! I’ve tried some of their food too and it’s good. Check it out when there is live music, I’ve never had a bad time here.

Really loved the vibe here. We walked past Barleymash and into ginger’s, a small lounge located right underneath. The décor was new and clean and the whole place felt very cozy. The chairs were comfortable and inviting; just one those places you can relax with a drink and close group of friends. It’s honestly a really nice break from the craziness that is Barleymash, because you can always go back up when you’re ready. We were also lucky to have gone on one of their live music nights, which is only Tuesday through Thursday. We could tell the artist performing was very passionate about his music, which accentuated the overall atmosphere. Everyone there looked like they were enjoying themselves. Beer was also not that expensive for a place of this caliber in Gaslamp. I would definitely include ginger’s in my plans every time I’m in the area.

Went to ginger’s last night to see the lovely Astra Kelly sing. I had never been there before, and was excited to finally check it out. Gingers is located in the downstairs«basement» of barleymash, so they share the same menu. It is the PERFECT place for a date night when they have live music. We grabbed drinks(i had a champagne cocktail… very crafty), grabbed a spot on a cozy couch and watched Astra sing. Cute date night and a completely different«chill» vibe than barleymash. great night!

Small bar located downstairs from the always crowed Barleymash. You have to enter into Barleymash and then take the stairs down. Just a few seats located at the bar and some lounge seating(chairs and sofas). The place must max out at 50 or so people. It’s nice calm and relaxing space to get away from the loud and crowded Barleymash. The martinis are pretty good too.

It’s a lounge. You can sit down and have the music bump a little less. Elements of it are reminiscent of a speakeasy, but it’s not one of the highfalutin kind of places you find hidden in the back or underneath other restaurants. I prefer it to most of the stuff you find in the Gaslamp, but I wouldn’t be motivated to come downtown just for this.

We held our company holiday party down in Ginger’s and it was absolutely perfect. The space was private for our party hours, the bartenders & servers were wonderful, the food was great. Lizzie made getting everything set a breeze which helped me out immensely. We’ve already reserved a date for next year’s holiday party, I think that says it all.

I love gingers. I’ve spent more time downstairs then I have up at barely mash. Came here on a Tuesday night to watch some friends play. Very laid back. The two female singers, Dana and Haley, did a wonderful job with entertainment. Great live music. Prices are steep, but the mules are really good! The weekends are fun too, but much more packed.

Cool place… but the Monday night DJ can’t even remotely sync music and videos worth a shit… so friggin’ annoying, ridiculous, and very amateurish…

I’ve been looking for a good martini bar in SD for quite some time, and this is it! Went here with some friends while on an impromptu bar tour during Comic Con weekend and it was my favorite among all of our stops! It was a nice change from crowded Barleymash and the drinks were fantastic. The bartender Brewer(I’m sure I butchered that spelling, sorry) was so entertaining to talk to and made my friend and I amazing martinis when we asked him to surprise us with something. He’s awesome! I will definitely be back.

Odd location, odd décor, odd layout… but I guess it kind of works. Music is not too loud so you can have a convo if you’re speaking loudly. Its kind of jazzy. The couches are nice, but the glass tables remind me of patio furniture. Its really tiny.

Great ambience for talking and having a drink. If you want to try something sweet and spicy try the fresh squeezed orange and poblano pepper martini!

This place was at first a bit tricky to find since it is supposedly downstairs to BarleyMash. You have to go inside Barley Mash first and then get to ginger’s(thanks for the girl who saw us looking lost from inside who guided us in !) Anyways! when we got there, OHITISSOCUTE! and the drinks… man, the drinks were strong(and yummy!) Bartender there really showed passion for what he does, my friends and I loved that and so we got a couple more… the rest is history but this place is awesome!

THEBESTMANCAVE I HAVEEVERSEENINMYLIFE!!! Yes you read it here ladies and gents!!! I’m actually afraid of writing a review for this place cause now a whole bunch of people are gonna hit up this place… I’m conflicted!!! This bar is below the wonderful and entertaining Barley Mash. Right when you walk down the stairs, you look out into the basement bar and see cool love white love seat couches in amphitheater style like seating. High top tables and of course… a TV, might I add that there are multiple TVs. IT was so great because you could watch 3 different games(ie Football, Basketball, what have you) all at one time!!! I was in heaven. After you had walked down the stairs, there is a nice sized bar to your left with all you need. The menu was great and similar to what Barley Mash offers. My friends and I had ordered 3 different hashes. I recommend trying all of them because they’re damn good y’all!!! Anywho…pretend that you didn’t read this review or know where it is because I don’t want to come to his bar on Sundays all crowded and –ish! SEATSTAKEN!!! I am Walking… the WALKING UnilocalER!!!

Great Spot! We were out with some friends for the weekend and drinking upstairs at Barley Mash when we decided to check out what was down the stairs behind us. GInger’s is a Speak Easy /Martini Bar with a cool vibe. We sat at the Bar and were Helped by Stace. I think Stace was 80% of why the place was so good. Had a few dirty martinis and then an Old Fashioned, WOW… Great Drinks… then he mentioned how great the menu was, our friends wanted to eat some place else but after listing to Stace talk about the food my buddy and I ordered the wings naked with the different sauces to dip it in, SOOOOGOOD, then we had the Duck Puppies also Great! I cant wait to go back…

Situated in the basement of Barley Mash this bar offers non-beer drinkers a decently sized martini menu, friendly bartenders, house music and posh seating. I asked the bartender to surprise me with something fruity but not too fruity(I’m sure bartenders hate people like me) but Stace rose to the challenge and concocted a captivating strawberry cocktail that was delicious down to the last drop. My girlfriends and I started our night out here because it wasn’t too crowded and had good-feeling-get-you-ready-to-party music. The security guards were even nice when our overly enthusiastic Aussie friend shattered my martini glass while cheers-ing. Stace quickly made me another drink and our party continued seamlessly — that’s what I call good service! The prices are a bit steep, but if you are only going to have one drink and head out — I’d say try it out.
