This hair salon is extremely clean and neat. Noreyana is my favorite she is like Hollywood hair dresser. Try it you won’t be disappointed !!!

I needed a place to get my haircut that was open on a Sunday. I didn’t have many options but this place got great reviews on Unilocal so I thought I’d give it a try — and for $ 20 what could I lose?
Well, I got way more hair cut off than I wanted. I wanted a more subtle cut but after the blow dry job my hair was looking like a dome-​y mom haircut — exactly the kind of cut I was avoiding. the stylist even asked if I wanted a dome shape and I said, «no, I want all the angles to be very subtle and gradual.» my fault for not being more specific I guess.
the main reason for the 2 stars though? I got home and noticed one side of my hair is an INCH longer than the other. unfortunately, the longer side was actually the length I wanted but I’m going to have to get it cut off to fix my hair. Despite probably being able to get it fixed for free, I don’t even want to go back to this place to get it fixed so I’m going to go somewhere else.

You really can’t beat a $ 20 haircut. I was glad to know that there was somebody there that knew how to work black, relaxed hair. Her name is Nicole. Stop by and see her if you need a nice cut and style.

I called an hour ahead to set an appointment and I’m glad I did. The place was bustling with walk-​ins and appointment clients on a Monday at 11:00 a.m. Angelica spent time to understand the haircut I wanted for my wavy and unruly hair. She did it just as I wanted. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because no one was manning the front desk and so the hairstylists had to alternately run out front to meet walk-​ins and answer phone calls in the middle of styling their clients’ hair.

Lorena is literally the BEST hair stylist I have ever had in my 27yrs!
Lorena cut my hair today and she did LITERALLY everything I asked her to do. I’m that girl with hair down to her booty. I have such a hard time at hair salons because they NEVER want to cut my hair because… «its too pretty to cut!!! Leave it the way it is!!» and they literally only take like 2inches off!
Can’t I have –my– hair the way –I– want –my– hair to be?
Anyway…
She shared her personal opinion when needed but made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing. She would let me know what she was doing as she was doing it and made sure I was comfortable with how it looked.
I had her cut my bangs 3 times… best part, she didn’t make me feel uncomfortable about being picky.

I check so many salons but this one is best. Price customer service and nice atmosphere. I was 4 times her always good experience her. you get for $ 20 cut wash and nice scalf massage:) is best part! I find this place on Unilocal.Thank you again

Best hair salon in San Diego try so many salons but this one is best. Find on Unilocal searching salons this one have best reviews in downtown. First I thing looks high end salon is expensive but I try after when all was done I buy 20 dollar for all service cut wash and style. Just amazing. thank you Gio and Gio

I love Gio and Gio New Concept Salon! One year ago, I discovered the excellent customer service, great pricing, consistent quality trims, stylizing and highlighting services the seven times I have returned.
The stylists are excellent listeners regarding what you the customer want and are expecting. All clients are given undivided attention and pampering. All the stylists are very professional, yet fun! I have always walked out with a boost to my self esteem and hear compliments on my hair from those I know in my community.
As a woman, singer and songwriter, and performer, I could not ask for a better salon. I will continue to trust any of the stylists at Gio and Gio New Concept Salon throughout my daily and professional needs to be good to myself.

I’m not going to lie. When I saw haircuts were $ 20 I was a little apprehensive going here but I am SO glad that I did. After my hair stylist told me that he charges $ 60 for haircuts I wanted to see if I could find something more affordable. I came across Gio & Gio New Concept Salon while walking to work one day and saw their $ 20 haircut advertisement and thought I would give them a try.
I have extremely thick, layered hair that can be difficult for even the most seasoned hair stylists to cut correctly. Nicole did a wonderful job and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. Not only did she cut my hair to perfection, she also washed and styled my hair as well – all for $ 20!
They also have great hours of operation suitable for those with full time 9 – 5 jobs and are open on the weekend as well. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for any kind of haircut – from a dramatic transformation to a trim. Thanks for taking such good care of my hair! :)

I had a close friend cutting my hair for years back in Michigan, and since moving out to San Diego I just grew it out due to lack of funds and lack of knowledge of the local options. At the beginning of the summer I came here because of the price (see: lack of funds.) Danielle listened to my requests, gave me advice, and gave me one of my favorite haircuts I’ve ever had! I’ve gotten tons of compliments.
I don’t think you can request stylists here, but I’ll definitely be going back. You can’t beat the price, and besides, even a sub-​par haircut is the only thing that time always reliably heals.

I’ve never written a review before. I dislike making people look bad since it is a business and people are working for a living. But…
I’m so mad I’m holding back the urge to cut my hair off. I asked for a V shaped Layerd cut. I even showed the lady a picture. I told her that my hair isn’t long enough to look exactly like that but I would love to have it look similar to it. The lady looked like she knew what she was doing and saying. She gave suggestions and worked fast like she’s done this a million times. It has been two years since my last hair cut so I was glad she looked like she knew what she was doing. Boy was I wrong.
After she cut my hair she blow dried it. Which was part of the 20 dollar deal. I only wish that she let me look at my hair first because when she dried she curled my hair inwards making it hard to actually see the full cut. So I left the salon kinda satisfied. It didn’t look like the picture but it was nice.
When I got home and rewashed my hair however, I noticed how choppy it looked. All the layers didn’t blend in and I had random chunks of short hair all around my head. I’ve never experienced a haircut like this before in my life. I wish I has a good camera to post a picture of my poor hair, but it’s not showing all the so called layers.
Other than that… The service was nice.

I’m really uneasy about switching places because I’m picky about my haircut. But Nora did a great job, and the price is very reasonable. Especially since they wash your head after.
Definitely recommend this place for guys!

I am on cloud 9 with my new haircut! Danielle cut my hair yesterday and went above and beyond my expectations! For starters, she was super chill to talk to and gave me great advice for hair care.
I showed her what I wanted with some Pinterest photos, but was still hesitant it wouldn’t turn out the way I wanted. When Danielle finished I was in awe! I am SO HAPPY with my new hair and will definitely be coming back whenever I am in the area again. Haircut was super affordable ($ 20) included wash, and the salon is very chic.

I love getting haircuts while I’m on vacation… it’s seriously one of my favorite things in the world.
They got back to me super quick via email to schedule my appointment, but, when I got in, I didn’t know who was cutting my hair. So Danielle, who at reception when I came in took me. (I think later there was another stylist who I was supposed to be with but they nicely figured it out between them. So, telling me who I was meeting with would have been good, but that’s the only non-​awesome thing that happened… and it wasn’t even a deal.)
Parking is a little tricky but there are loads of lots and garages around — if you’re unfamiliar with the area give yourself some extra time.
Danielle chatted with me for a bit about what I wanted. I like short layers — I NEED short layers for my curls to bounce. I’ve had so many haircuts where I’m like «NO, you can do it! Cut that layer shorter!!!» and after an hour of playing cheerleader I still come out with sad limp curls. Not with Danielle!!! She was like «how short? This short?» and I nodded and she cut. They’re blended beautifully too. She round-​brushed my hair so it’s straighter in these pics than it usually is, and now that I’ve had it home for a few days I’m still loving it just as much and it is super curly.
Danielle was super nice, we chatted the whole time, and it was a $ 20 haircut. I mean. That’s absurd. If I lived here, I’d be a regular. I even considered going back for a color but I’m not ready for that level of commitment. But I liked it so much there that I strongly considered doing something I didn’t particularly want just so I could go back. Also, I saw a couple of puppy dogs come in and hang out while their owners got cuts (I don’t know what those parameters are, but I’d call before showing up with pooch in tow.) And that’s so nice!

I really had high expectations for this place after seeing all the 5 star reviews, but ended up being extremely disappointed. I got my haircut back in February and I’m STILL upset at how my hair looks right now.
On Valentine’s Day, I came in and asked them to fix my layers and give me side swept bangs. I didn’t take a close look at my hair after they finished cutting because I was already running late to my Valentine’s dinner, but I was horrified when I saw it later at home. They gave me the choppiest layers ever (SOOOO CHOPPY!!!) and my bangs looked like they were cut by a child. Like seriously, wtf is this.
Two stars because the lady who cut my hair was nice and sweet, and she looked like she was putting in effort. But oh god. With parking at $ 10 and a $ 20 tip (because I felt bad she had to work on V-​Day) it ended up being like $ 50 … for the worst haircut I’ve ever had

I found this gem on a whim while having dinner near by. I called in to make an early Sunday morning appointment right when they opened and was seen within the first 30 min. The salon is open, airy, and inviting. My friend and I were greeted immediately upon entering by the awesome front staff and were offered drinks (water or coffee), then I was introduced to my hairstylist (Nicole) for the morning.
Nicole was awesome! I was jonesing for a short cute a la Jennifer Hudson cut and came out looking like the Latina feisty version!
Even though I don’t live in San Diego I would def come here again to keep up with trims.
I highly recommend this fantastic salon!
