I’m a bit too disappointed by Gorilla. I really wished the other ratings were exaggerations of picky taste buds, but no, the rating reflects just how underwhelming this restaurant is. Well, I cant always eat at the better Korean restaurants on Convoy – I’m bound to run into some bad apples in the bunch. Bad apple, bad apple. Food: — Seafood Jjam Bong Soup($ 10.95): Seriously?! Yes, the soup base is the expected spicy level of jjam bong, but to have only the soup base, bits and pieces of assorted vegetables, and some seafood pieces mixed around and boiled together… this is not okay. This dish is not only way overpriced, but it’s so generic that I wonder if they even made their own soup or if it was from a prepackaged option from a Korean market. Add in some frozen seafood pieces, and chop some cheap vegetables, and tada, there goes your $ 10.95. The spiciness of the soup is hard to detect any other flavors, but since the mixture of garlic and spicy pepper is pretty much all that makes up the soup base. Man, I feel jipped. At least give noodles, right? No, they gave a bowl of rice. This isn’t a rice-type dish! I’m disappointed. Do not get this if you want something more… interesting. Boring, boring, disappointed, boring. Pros: — No wait time: too few patrons it’s a little eerie. — Waiter and waitress/cooks were friendly. He asked a few odd questions, but it’s okay… Cons: — Side dishes taste a little bit old. Kimchi is a bit passed the fermentation point to where you may not want to serve it if you’re going for the fresh feel. The other side-dish options were boring and too similar to one another. — A bit dirty inside. Just seems a little run-down. Hey Gorilla, I had to try you once, and that was enough. I’m staying away from you. Sorry for our short meet but our underwhelming time together didn’t help. I’m moving on.

My new favorite always-go-to-place for whenever I crave Korean food! I was not expecting much because I’ve tried so much Korean food but this place definitely has a variety of more unique items on the menu than other Korean restaurants I’ve been to(and trust me, I’ve tried a lot!) By unique, I mean, that I feel like the food here is more modern and pertaining to what’s actually popular in Korea right now AND I’ve never seen some of their menu items at other Korean restaurants. There is just so many new things I want to try on their menu so I really am looking forward to coming back! The service was great. Our waitress was just adorable. I could see that she always wanted to make sure we actually liked the food and that we always had water. She even brought us a little dessert bowl of freshly cut fruits at the end. The food we ordered were: 1) Boo Dae Jji Gae(Kimchi Soup base with spam, sausage, ramen noodles, veggies, &more) — my rating: 4⁄5 — the size of this soup is pretty big for one serving compared to other places’. 2) Jae Yook Bok Em(Spicy pork with veggies) — my rating: 3⁄5 3) Cheese Bool Dak(Spicy chicken with cheese on top) — my rating: 5⁄5 — SOGOOD!!! It was my first time trying it after hearing that it’s actually popular in Korea. I usually don’t like anything with cheese but this combination was perfect! The cheese wasn’t so strong because this dish has the perfect amount of spiciness to mix well with the cheese! I definitely want to try their other items that are also covered in cheese… 4) Dduk Bok E(spicy rice cake) — my rating: 3⁄5 Someone reviewed that there are flies there. Maybe it wasn’t a good day? When I went it was totally fine. It’s just their interior design with doodles of gorillas, monkeys, and tagging kind of adds a messy feel to it but overall I thought it was still clean! ANYWAYZ, I LOVETHISPLACE! ^___^

No offense, every time I come here I can’t help but think that everything is so dirty… The ramen was cheap and delicious for its price! But there were flies everywhere. Every time we come, there’s always at least one buzzing around our table… Not fruit flies, but those big fat ones that make annoying buzzing sounds everywhere. Once my friend«killed» one with her chopsticks but it «came back to life» and haunted us T__T AHHHH No matter how drunk you get me, I am not down for that. Sorry.

Great place to go drink with friends! :D Compared to other korean restaurants in convoy, the soju and beer are definitely cheaper than other korean restaurants. My friends and i happen to go to this place just because we never noticed it there and found out that they have cheap drinks. Now we are pretty much regulars so the waitress doesn’t check our ids anymore. i like their katsu and ddokbokki(spicy rice cake) with assorted tempura. Usually in other places, katsu comes with rice but at Gorilla, they give you fries instead and i actually like having fries instead of rice. The waitress does not come by unless you call them over but i don’t mind. This place is small so it’s easy to get her attention. They have a tv that only plays korean mv/music. I don’t mind but it would be nice if they add more music to their list. I swear they only have 4~5 music videos that play again and again and again. The waitress must be ridiculously sick of the songs.

Great lunch specials from $ 5-$ 8.95, when you don’t wanna spend $ 17 on all you can eat BBQ next door and smell like meet when u go back to work. Cheap eats to support a cute mom & pop shop. Value is worth 5 stars and you get in and out on a lunch break. When they bust out all the little side dishes, you feel that you are getting your Convoy on. In a time crunch, this place is hand down an excellent place. If you have to pick up the tab for a large group, this place that you will look at your bill and not fall over.

Great prices on cheap drinks. Great prices on cheap drinks. Just in case you didn’t get it the first time, Great prices on cheap drinks! They have good korean food at decent prices and great place to get cheap drinks. Their selection of beer is pretty limited(mostly korean beer as this is a korean restaurant) but they do have a good selection of rice wine and soju which are also cheap. It will be hard to find cheap prices on korean beer and soju elsewhere. 22oz bottle of Hite, OB, and Cass goes for only $ 5. Enough about the drinks(just kidding, but I have to get to the food EVENTUALLY!), the food is good also. I love their katsu here, could use a little more meat but it is just the right amount of crisp on the outside yet still leaves the meat tender. Comes with fries and cabbage salad with 1000 island dressing. I’ve also tried the Boodae stew which is kimchi soup with sausages, spam, pork, tofu, kimchi, and an assortment of veggies and ramen noodles. One of my favorite dishes wherever I go. It is pretty good here but I’d rather get this particular dish elsewhere. I also love their side dishes here. It is limited to about 5~6 side dishes which includes anchovies, kimchi, honey pan friend potatoes(BOOOOOOOOOMB), mashed potatoes and a few others. Great place to eat and drink till 2AM. The place is small but it is still«fairly» new and has never been busy when I have gone on a Friday or Saturday night; although parking could be better!

This place is a nice place to go for drinks with friends. The soju is half the price of most of the other Korean restaurants. The tofu kimchi here is really good since they actually use kimchi that’s been fermented. The katsu is also delicious and it comes with fries! The side dishes are a bit lacking, but this is the kind of Korean restaurant where the dishes are pretty simple since you’re supposed to eat with your drinks. Ddukbokgi and the fried tempura was so good! Almost like when i used to get it in Korea. They really need to get some new songs playing. The repetitive Kpop songs can be a bit… blah. I’d go back here for soju and food! Don’t go there expecting flavored soju though.

So disappointed. This resent trip we both got sick. This was one of my favorite late night spots for Ramen. But the chef was not happy we walked in 30minutes to closing. Guess they already cleaned up and was upset they had to cook. Your a restaurant thats how you make money. Buy the time we left and got home both me and my cousin weren’t feeling good. I throw up twice cousin called out sick from work. Really disappointed in the service here now., Another great place has gone bad.

I came here for a small get together and it’s a very small and simple mom-and-pop Korean restaurant with all the standard dishes you see in other Korean places. There were cute gorilla decorations all over the place and it definitely has a more quiet ambiance that allows for some good talking amongst friends. The chicken and short ribs were really good and so was the tofu kimchi. I couldn’t bring myself to eat more than one piece of a particular intestine dish though. Overall, not a bad place if you’re looking for a small, quiet place for your typical Korean food.

It’s a really nice Korean restaurant. The entire staff is friendly and their side dishes are delicious! I adore their sardines and the waiter offered to refill my side dishes before I even ask :) Gorilla have been in business for 2 years and I’m surprised no one really know about this place. Come on people, THEYAREOPENUNTIL2am EVERYDAY and their food is cheap! They don’t have a wide variety of food like other Korean restaurants, but I like the fact that they are friendlier & cheaper than other restaurants. You guys should give this place a visit!

We like trying new places and decided to check this little place out. The bf loves monkeys, gorillas, apes, you name it! So this place was perfect! The walls were filled with cute gorilla art work. We ordered our usual that we usually order at korean restaurants and it was pretty good. There was only a total of 4 groups in the restaurant so it wasn’t too crowded like the place next door. Although that place is good too, ahem! Our server was nice. They serve alcohol soooo heeeeey! I know we’ll be back again.

I came here on accident on a late Saturday night. My boyfriend, a friend and I were hoping to go to the sushi place in the same plaza but it was closed after 12am. Luckily, GORILLA opens late! They open until 2am! I was craving Korean food and I was so happy to find this place. It is really hard to find restaurants on Convey that open that late. We were starving so we ordered ddokboki, spicy chicken wings(yangnyeom chicken — my personal favorite), bulgogi, spicy seafood tofu soup and veggie pancake(i think). This restaurant is one of those places that are not particularly special for one dish but overall, the food and atmosphere is good. The waiter was telling us that he used to work at the BBQ Chicken place(on convoy also) and the yangnyeom chicken was better at Gorilla. The yangnyeom chicken was okay. It was tasty but I did not like how they used chicken wings because there was not enough meat for the taste. The amount of banchan side dishes were about five to six. Everything was pretty good and the waiter was very nice which is surprising at 1am. The veggie pancake was gloriously fried and delicious. I liked how all the walls were hand painted drawings of cartoon gorillas. Very cute. More people should go check it out!

I have been there four times and have to say that it’s every bit as good as the other good Korean restaurants, but for less $. The beef, chicken and spicy pork bulgogi are great, and for $ 9(including tax) at lunch time, it’s hard to beat. The seafood pancake is awesome, filled with lots of fresh fish, shrimp and squid. Taking all this and their basement level prices into account, I honestly wonder how they manage to stay in business!!! Personally, I would really like to see this place succeed. The lady serving and cooking(and everything else) is a real gem and she should be rewarded for attitude, effort, resilience and cooking skill. Give Gorilla a try, you will not be disappointed.

A little known Korean Restaurant tucked away in the corner, next to Spicy City. It’s a pretty small place, i was the only person there when i first arrived but it filled up with a large party as i got my food. I got the spicy ramen, the description said«lots of ham» it came with Lots of SPAM, which i fortunately like. The ramen noodles were just okay tasted like they were dried noodles, not fresh. Broth was SPICY as stated on the menu. I was dripping wet from the combination of(temperature) heat and(spicy) heat of the broth. You’d think i came out of the gym if you saw me leave the restaurant. I think i must have used at least a dozen napkins. If what they say is true, «you are what you eat»… Then I must be Really HOT! =) Hello Ladies! The Banchan(sides) were good too and were replenished without having to ask. Great service. I thought the prices might have been a little cheeper than other Korean Restaurants. I’d like to come back and try the Bulgogi and Kalbi to give this place a real test of Korean food. So far its okay, but i don’t really see what makes it fusion, just seems like korean to me. Does spam make it fusion?

This restaurant definitely should be more well-known. Most of the time when my friends think of convoy they think of tofu house, sushi deli, or spicy city. My friend and I were looking to eat at dok-do sushi but it was closed so we stumbled upon this place and I am so glad we did. It’s a very small place with maybe 8 – 10 small tables? We were greeted by this really sweet lady. The menu was small and simple with very reasonable prices. I order the seafood noodle soup. I was expecting a normal bowl of noodles but was surprised with this super huge bowl. I was able to finish half and had to take the rest home. Cost was around $ 6.75. My friend ordered the spicy squid with veggies entrée and the squid was soft and spicy! Not chewy at all! Service is friendly and food was good for the price. I would definitely come again. I just wished they had more dishes on their menu!

I really REALLY want to give this place three stars just for the lady that is always there working, by herself. And the three times I have been there, she is by herself. I was a little surprised no one had reviewed this spot. It has been around for a few months now but then again, I was the only person in the restaurant, every time. The place is minimalistic in décor and the menu reflects the décor. About 12 items to pick from and it is pretty standard fare. Not sure where the«fusion» in the restaurant title comes from. Nothing on the menu is out of the norm. I had the bulgogi last time and it was alright. Nothing special. Tasted like sukiyaki my company sells to cheap restaurants in 5lb bags. So, if you want to eat mediocre food by yourself, with no one else around and listen to really loud Korean pop. Gorilla Fusion is the spot. I am sure the lady would appreciate the company.
