Great local food truck… The Lord Groggy or Fat Ron Burgandy are both works of pure genius…

Awesome food. Groggy’s was a food sponsor for an Embrace H3 home restoration in December 2012 and all of the volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the food!

It was like a dream. That is if you dream of a sandwich that consists of chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and honey mustard. Three of my favorite things all in a sandwich. The price was really reasonable and they made the sandwich pretty quickly since it was busy at the Tasty Truck Tuesday. I will definitely be back

Groggys is really the home of the fat sandwhich for me. The Fat Ron Burgundy is amazing, a true sandwhich. Mozarella sticks, soom beef, french fries, and some garlic sauce, how could that go wrong? Or they have one with chicken strips instead of the beef, which I believe is called The Fat Chick. They have different specials occasionally which are always inventive and something I would have made myself if I was going for an amazing sandwhich. They are on Adams avenue on Tuesday nights at the food truck gathering usually, which is where I tried it. So happy I did, good stuff

We got a fresh prince and tex-mex fries from here when they were at a local food truck event. Our food was awesome, and came out pretty quickly. Service was also super friendly even though they were clearly busy

Got the Ron Burgundy. It’s very classy. The bread is very hot, fresh, crispy and tasty. The whole sammie is good for what it is: Drunk college freshman after party food. Good to have taste of East Coast Fat Sandwiches. Will try a different one next time.

awful, awful, awful. Did I say this food truck was awful??? I made the fatal mistake of picking this food truck at the Touch a Truck event last Saturday at Qualcomm and wish I’d gone with Bitchin’ Burgers instead. Now I know why your line was longer. 20 minutes wait for a substandard sandwich, I was hopping mad, especially as I was watching the disaster unfolding in the kitchen. Those guys couldn’t organise a p!@# up in a brewery, they were so disorganised, it was ridiculous. I had the Batman and if I’d had a hangover, it would have been perfect, but it was greasy, bland and I think I had heartburn for two days. My husband can’t understand my food truck obsession but there are food trucks and there is Groggy’s. NEVERAGAIN!

Tried out Groggy’s during the Tuesday night food trucks on Adams Ave We ordered the Lord Groggy(?) sandwich. It basically has meat, sauce, egg, mozzarella sticks and fries on top. I always have concerns when a company touts their food as the best or the greatest which this sandwich has been called. For me, it was just OK. Not bad, no where near best. The mozzarella sticks are a miss for me. They were hard and not really that good. I would have preferred a melted cheese or wiz instead. The fries on top were undercooked. I don’t mind a less crispy fry but these were a little too underdone. The sandwich actually started tasting better toward the end when I got to the egg and sauce on the bottom. For the price and the size of it(not really as big as I expected) I will pass on Groggy’s when I am here next.

I was at Green Flash Brewery last week and they happened to have Groggy’s that night(Green Flash do rotations for food trucks and there is a schedule on the their website). I ordered the Fat Ron Burgundy($ 7.95) and I waited 20 minutes for the order! The sandwich had cheesesteak, fries, mozzarella sticks, lettuce, tomato, onion, and groggy sauce. I don’t know if they made their own or what but the bread was pretty tasty, but that was the only good thing about the sandwich. The sandwich was greasy and only lukewarm, mozzarella stick was hard, tomato was like half an inch thick , the entire sandwich had like only one ounce of cheesesteak, but way too many fries. The groggy sauce was also nothing special. I don’t think I will ever go back.

I would punch an old lady in the grill for a Bacon Blue sandwich.

Lord Groggy… I prostrate myself in front of you for your deliciousness and that funny thing you do to my stomach… namely fill it up! How is it possible to put so many good things into one sandwich? Cheesesteak, Mozarella Sticks, Chicken fingers, Fries, Bacon, Fried Egg, Ketchup, and Groggy Sauce(some sort of spicy mayo based sauce). During the few bites that all of the ingredients aligned into one bite, it was pretty amazing. Parts of the sandwich were pretty dry but when you get that Groggy Sauce in your bite, it is delicious. It really sounds like the most decadent thing you’ve ever had but it doesn’t taste like a heart attack(despite all the ingredients). It tasted more like a very hearty meal. I suggest NOT dropping your mozzarella sticks on the ground as that will make you contemplate whether or not you should pick it up and stick it back in your sandwich… dirt and all. I didn’t if that’s what you’re wondering.

My apartment complex has food trucks show up from time to time and when I pulled in from work yesterday there they were! I had been trying to catch up with Groggy’s ever since I heard they were starting, so I was so stoked to see them there. The owner is a friend of my boyfriend’s and we had run into him a few months back before he started the truck. I can tell you, the build up to the food was well worth the wait! No let downs here. I had the Fat Batman, OMG, delicious! Fried Chicken strips, french fries, and honey mustard on a french roll. Heaven wrapped in aluminum foil. These sandwiches are the perfect after bar food or morning hangover food. Even if you buy one before you go out and save it for later, 100% worth it. I’ll be following them on Twitter to see where they go and get myself to a bar near there!

Went to Manzanita Brewing company last week to fill up, and Groggy’s was outside, playing some awesome music and with sandwiches named after Anchorman, so I had to check it out. Im so glad I did! I ordered a Fat Ron burgundy and a Lord groggy for the hubby, and they were both amazing! I had great service by Chris, he told me what was in their Groggy Sauce(sour cream, Sriracha, and Salsa) and I knew this place was going to be my and my husbands favorite. I had never heard of Fat Sandwiches before and had never seen anything with mozzarella sticks, fries, and chicken fingers in a sandwich before, but these guys know how to make them!

It’s basically a rip-off of R.U. Hungry in Jersey. If you’ve never been, you don’t need to, because of how often it’s on Travel and Food Network. Regardless, no creativity at all. But, with that said, not that bad. If you’re watching best places to pig out, or Man Vs. Food, and craving the most retarded stoner sandwich ever, this takes care of that. Variety far less, but you can get one of R.U. Hungry’s most polular, landmark sandwiches here, albeit with the addition of steak. Overall, nothing original, but solid drunk food. If you were a daytiime alcoholic, since it seems they are usually mostly around for lunch. Actually, looking at R.U. Hungry’s menu, they do in fact have the same exact sandwich. Fat Knight is the same as Groggy Jersey. So you can get a heart attack on both coasts!

I didn’t get a chance to try Groggy because at 105PM they told me they are closed for business for the day even though they advertised that service would be available from 1130AM-130PM. if you’re going to cater to the business lunch crowd, you should be more flexible in your time. Not everyone eats their lunch at the 12−1PM time. Some of us prefer later lunches(1Pm by any stretch of the imagination is not a late lunch at all) and some have to eat later lunches due to scheduling. When I approached their truck, they still had beverages and snacks on display. What if I just wanted a bottle of water? I would have still been declined. The rep who informed me of their closure was nice, but it doesn’t change the fact that I wasn’t offered service in the end. If they ran out of food, then just tell me you sold out. It would have made the situation far more understandable. I was looking forward to trying their Greek fries, but it looks like I’m not going to get that chance. Perhaps, if they stopped by again, I might try them out, but with the abundance of food trucks these days, I might just venture elsewhere before returning.

Add it to the list of awesomeness. Had the Groggy Jersey. Basically everything I like in a sammy — cheesesteak, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, french fries. They were cool and it was tasty. Will return.

Good food, great attitude, and awesome location(well, when they’re outside of my office at least): the recipe for a killer lunch. My office mates and I have eaten here a few times and tried nearly everything on their menu, and I can say with gusto that I’m a fan. My favorite so far: the New Jersey Groggy. Cheese steak, fried mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, french fries, and marinara sauce, all in a toasted roll – so awesome! Their fried twinkles and fried PB&J were both great as well. My friend’s Aztec Dog was equally awesome. The fellas running the truck are super chill as well. We chatted about all types of things, and it was clear that they were passionate about what they do. There needs to be more trucks like this in San Diego! Oh and Unilocal, you best not remove my review. We’re on to you…

What luck! I find out about this food truck on Thrillist, and notice at that moment that it’s down the street from my office that day, so I bring a friend and head out to try something new. The concoctions they come up with are ingenious. I had to go with the Ron Burgundy… Mozzarella and Fries on a sandwich?! Get out of here! I couldn’t NOT try that. The food came out quick and was as greasy as I had hoped. Not too greasy, just good greasy. The flavors combining within the sandwich were epic, and it filled me up. The prices are pretty on par with most food trucks, but when it’s good food on wheels, can you really put a price on it? I will definitely be trying out some of their other sammiches in the near future.

Food selection is pretty heavy on cheese and frying, which is why I went 10 minutes out of the way and since baby was craving, too. I ordered fried pickles and the charger dog. The pickles were a mess. I had five pickle pieces stuck together. When one was pulled off, the rest of the batter on the others came off. The batter was also soggy and not fried all the way. Sauce was drizzled on top, which added to the sogginess. As for the charger dog, it was delicious and I didn’t expect two dogs in the bun. Good price for the charger dog. Overall, I would go to back to this place if craving called. Highly recommend Food Truck to add Frito Pies to the menu, since cheese, chili, and onions are on majority of the menu items. If you haven’t heard of it, don’t hate. It’s definitely a southwest/southern item. Originally from Houston and these were always at a high school football game. YUMMY!

Great food truck! Tried their Ron Burgandy sub when they were in La Jolla. Very good… simple and tasty at a fair price. I’m glad San Diego is getting more of these kinds of food trucks. I’ll be sure to visit them again whenever they’re in the area again. Oh and btw, I don’t work for them or anything :) This is not a fake review! Just someone who tried something new and liked it.
