I work at a AT&T location off of Miramar road. We were told that the poorly reviewed incumbent that used to provide food services at our cafeteria was leaving and that very positive changes were coming when the new provider was to show up. So, the new provider did show up and they turned out to be High Bluff Café from del mar area. They have been here almost three weeks and I can honestly say«things have not improved at all» since the previous providers left, «in fact i can honestly say they have gotten a little worse». So, our cafeteria has 5 sections or stations. Of these 5, only 2 are occupied with any kind of food related items. The other 3 are completely bare. Talk about a visual statement or lack there of it makes as you walk in. So, of the stations, there is one set up as a grill, where the cook will make stuff for you on order. This is not so bad, except it is the cook left over from the previous régime, who could barely hear you, was way slower than Uriel(previous cook) and got your order wrong almost every time you ordered. Ya, probably cuz he couldn’t hear you. The next and only other station usually has a preselected menu item for the day(say meatloaf with side of mashed potaties n veggies), plus a sandwich bar. So, this is pretty much it for a full sized cafeteria that should look like it’s set up to feed about 100 – 200 people at the peak hour easily. So, to give you a feel for these two guys from High Bluff Café who took over. They seem like nice guys, but have yet to see them engage with their customer, unless of course you chase them down for something. When these guys took over, there were no signs of a change… no new menu, no new restaurant or business name posted anywhere, no wide selection of new food items, same old salad bar. Sorry, i forgot to mention the salad bar left from the previous owners. It was like the previous owners never left. Talk about pride of ownership — u won’t find it here. I think what gripes me the most is that they(current owners or their staff) never ask«hey are u happy with the food?», «Are u happy with the service?» Anyway, I KNOWTHEYPROBABLYDON’T GIVE A CRAP, but i will not eat here until things get back to how they were when Jean and Gina ran the cafeteria. Oh well, there is always Sunrise Deli or Sandwich Island across the street, which is where my $ goes now. JTK

I had the Italian combo. It was delicious. Bread really made the sandwich. Owners are really friendly. Will be back!

Spaghetti Western? High Bluff Café is located behind the Spanish«Hacienda» professional building. It’s a small square building with a walk up counter and a very nice garden patio. The cuisine is pretty simple and generic. A fusion of standard office building deli and Japanese bento box options. To be safe, I just ordered a panini. Nothin fancy at all. Don’t come here expecting anything other than«office deli». However, their patio and the surrounding Hacienda building are a very nice place to sit down for lunch. — My complementary potato salad ball came with a surprise in the middle. A lone elbow macaroni. Hmmm

This is a regular spot for me. I work nearby and enjoy coming here on lunch breaks. There’s always plenty of seating and rarely a line of more than 2 people. I typically get the sushi rolls or the gyoza with rice and I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes for my order. The menu is a variety of American sandwiches, salads, and a few Asian dishes. They deliver every 15 minutes, are efficient with their service, and can accommodate large firm lunches upon request.

no thanks. won’t be back. the«avocado» was a tiny bit if what can only be described as «avocado sauce», the amount of sprouts was about the size of a quarter, and the bacon tasted like funny microwave kind. def not quality. only good thing, they deliver. but id rather drive somewhere better

I have been eating here a lot over the past 2 months and I like their BLT, Turkey sandwiches and their Mocha Java smoothie. Vietnamese Iced Coffee was pretty good, too. Good service and good fresh food. Lots of beverage choices and large diverse menu. Have not tried their Japanese food items yet. Really nice outdoor garden atmosphere. A bit expensive for lunch but worth it.

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years and I’m a fan of this café. This is a great place for a quick lunch. I’m a big fan of the Thai Veggie Wrap. I like their toasted cheese(but I add a tomato). The California Delight sandwich is pretty good(I omit the mayo). The bbq teriyaki chicken bento special is great if you go on a day it is offered(Thursdays/Fridays?). I sometimes drop by for a bagel in the morning too. They offer a frequent diner punch card which is good for a free meal once filled.

Pretty sure my food is all microwaved… im the only customer here, which means no other orders are going in/out. After i ordered, i couldn’t hear the sound of cooking our a stove. All I heard was periodic microwave beeps. … food came out and the sauce on top was still chunky, looked like a frozen meal they had reheated

I had a chicken terriyaki bento box and I swear they did not serve me chicken. It looked more like some weird kind of meat, possibly iguana or cat. They charged me extra because I used a credit card and the wait was insane. The food quality is equal to a lousy cafeteria, the prices are good but the food is not and the only thing that keeps this place open is its location to the business district which its located conveniently in the center of. The one thing this place has going for them is that they have bottled drinks, chips, candy bars and other snacks that they can’t screw up.

Wonderful service and the prices are par for the course. This place serves mostly the execs in the area but is welcome to the public working folk too. I discovered it while at a appt the other day and it saved my hungry daughters tummy and tube Thai coffee woke me up to say the least. Support small business owners!

I’ve placed firm lunch orders for delivery from here many times(free delivery with $ 7 min.), but have never actually dined in. It’s cute! Kind of hard to find this secret garden tucked away behind Hacienda on High Bluff, but when you do, I think you’ll like. Low key, introvert heaven! Low key. Spanish looking outdoor patio seating under a gazebo and umbrellas. Wrought iron tables and chairs. Looks like there’s a few space heaters that they use at night time as well. Nice tranquil fountain… good stuff. Great spot for quick lunch breaks. I work nearby so I’m sure I’ll be back. Menu has a mix of American Deli & Japanese items(staff is also Japanese… not that it matters). They have good sushi but today I ordered the Lunch Box Teriyaki Chicken for only $ 6.79. Comes with 2 sushi rolls, broccoli, teriyaki chicken, rice, and 1 wontons all placed in a cute disposable lunchbox with compartments. Ok, how many times did I say cute? Check it out if you’re in the area, or call them for a delivery if you can’t get out of the office. From my personal experience, they’re pretty quick!

Quality of the food is still the same, but the delivery people never EVER carry change. In fact, one of them straight up told me «$ 1.00 minimum tip.» Imagine if I had a $ 20. 1. The food is mediocre. 2. If i wanted to pay $ 10 for food, I’d pay for something way better than this. 3. WTF delivery man carries no change??? Sorry, I’m only going here on foot if I’m desperate.

I’ve been to the High Bluff maybe 3 or 4 times now and each time the food is just as bland and plain as the last. The only reason I’m rating 2 stars is that the eating environment is actually pretty good. The food however is not.

Retracting my last review of 3 Stars because their horrible customer service today. I called in an order at 11:45AM for a 1:00PM meeting the girls say«ok its on its way». Mind you it was CA rolls(pre-made) and a BLT. 12:15PM, called back to check on the status of the order, «its on its way» 1:00PM third call. «Oh I don’t know what happened he left. Oh, oh wait its here wait umm please hold» At this point someone else gets on the phone«Your order will go out once he gets back in about 20 minutes.» I’m one building over so I just went to grab it. The reason I didn’t do this to begin with? I was extremely busy or I wouldn’t have asked for delivery. I walk over pick up the order the ONLY thing they said was sorry. I speak to the manager sorry not we screwed up here’s $ 5 off or 10% nothing just a «sorry» Yeah«Sorry» doesn’t keep business.

I come to this place 3 times a week. Great outside seating and food. Try the Thai chicken wrap and Sarah’s choice and tuna salad. They also had a great salmon lunch box on Mondays, but unfortunately not any more at the moment.

Killer outside seating — I mean killer. You feel like you are sitting in a Spanish Hacienda. Food is good and service is good. The food is not AMAZING, but satisfactory. I would only eat here if I could actually eat there. The water fountain, sunshine and umbrellas just do it for me. Great place to go with co-workers to get out of the drab office for a little while.

I work in the same building, so by default I have had to eat here some days with being too busy & not having enough time to run out and get something. The times I have eaten here, it’s been HORRID! The food is disgusting!!! The customer service is horrible! DONOTEATHERE! P. S. They didn’t have a B Rating for No reason — that should just sum up everything!

I’m not to sure why I’ve never reviewed them before! The staff here is great. We order delivery just about everyday from here. We work somewhat across the street from them, so it is convenient. I believe we have had everything on the menu over the past three years. I love that they keep your company CC on file and that you can substitute just about anything. My fav right now is the Turkey wrap with lettuce, alfalfa sprout, shredded carrots, cheddar cheese, toms, on a spinach tortilla — but instead of the turkey meat, I get chicken breast — white meat. I have no mayo/mustard instead ask for a side of honey/mustard dressing on the side to dip. I love this place!!! Great healthy lunches and great prices. Too bad we are moving our office this month!!! I’ll miss these guys

I work in the area of High Bluff and I have to review it. The sandwiches, wraps, and bento boxes are all very tasty. I recommend the Thai Chicken Wrap for something with a little kick, but make sure you grab some napkins. All of their sandwiches are very good and come with pasta or potato salad. They do a real good job with these items. The bento boxes are ok. The chicken can be a little tough. I recommend this place if you work in the area, but suggest calling in your order. It can be quite a busy wait during lunch time.
