Have been craving pan dulce all throughout my competition prep! Finally got to stop by, and man was it delicious! Fresh, soft, and tasty!

Delicious and authentic Mexican bread. Tried the loaf slices and it reminded me of grandma’s. Also the cream filled empanada was flaky with a melt in your mouth buttery taste. Will definitely stop buying bread at Mexican markets and come back here instead. Just remember to take cash when going as they don’t take credit/Debit.

I had been craving pan dulce for months and I stumbled upon this gem whilst visiting with my boyfriend, recently. The location is a bit off putting, but I think the best treats come from the darkest holes in the wall…(well… sometimes, anyway…) The variety of breads here are reminiscent of mexican bakeries south of the border, and provide the same quality and taste. This place is probably the most authentic bakery on this side of the border! At .60 cents a piece you simply cannot go wrong with trying a little bit of everything! I hope to go back soon and bring home more of my favorites. You should too! Oh, and this is a CASHONLY establishment, so be sure to hit the ATM before stopping in!

I love their pan dulce, I called on Tuesday to make a cake order for Friday I told the guy who I spoke to specifically what I wanted and how, he told me it was no problem the only thing I needed to do was go and give a deposit so I did yesterday Wednesday his mom was in the bakery so I told her who I was and the order she had no clue on what I was talking about. She called her son to find out and the guy didn’t even remember me he never took my order. Very disappointed never ordering cakes from them again! Like I told the lady I will take my business somewhere else.

I love a good Mexican Bakery and this one sure hit the spot when I had one of those cravings. When I came in, I could not make up my mind because they had so much to choose from and it all looked so very good. At the end, I ended up choosing a couple of Cuernos because I wanted something buttery. They were only .60 cents a piece, so I picked one up for a homeless guy outside and myself. The cuerno or Mexican croissant was very moist inside and had a delicate buttery exterior. It was not as flaky as a French croissant, but it was moister and softer. I liked that it was a little airy and with a mild buttery flavor. At .60 a pop, these are a great and delicious. They also carry a variety of sweet breads, including: Besos(kisses), Campechanas, Conchas(shells), Empanada(turnovers), Marranitos/Cochinitos/Puerquitos(little pigs), Molletes(cheeks), Orejas(ears), and one of my favorites, Elotitos or corn ears. The lady who served me was very nice and made me laugh. They are very nice peope who work here. The place is small, but they sure manage to keep a lot of sweet breads on hand.

I have been coming to this bakery since I was about 2 years old(late 80’s), and it is by far the best authentic Mexican bakery in San Diego. My family and I usually have dessert after dinner and I would say we end up at Hilda’s at least 3 times a week. My parents still live around the corner so I end up enjoying their freshly baked, pieces of heaven(conchitas), more often than I’d like to. If you are ever in the area, and even if you are not, I would definitely recommend stopping by! They do accept cash only, but I never find myself spending more than $ 5 for my family and I, unless I’m picking up extra«pan dulce» for work. –I read some of the other reviews that mention their churros, I consider myself a regular here and I have NEVER had their churros. That is definitely not what they are known for and not something that they make regularly as far as I know. Now their CONCHITAS…

Let’s just say that I’m a pan dulce connoisseur and this is about the best I have found. Although I live in East County, I have driven as far and wide to find excellent pan dulce. Every time I have gone(three different times) I have found there to be a variety of fresh pan dulce, fresh beeing key. I love that it is a family run business of traditional pan dulce. I would recommend this place, for sure.

Very helpful staff, even hooked us up with a free cookie after answering our endless questions about the different items. Limited selection compared to the larger Mexican markets in SD, but everything was delicious. Bomb pastry, dirt cheap prices = good times.

Best panaderia I’ve found in SD so far. I moved here 2 years ago and I find myself coming back to this bakery the most. The bread is always fresh and satisfying. Plus it’s ridiculously cheap :)

A small hole in the wall panaderia, but it’s simply the best! It’s super cheap and the pan dulce is very tasty. I’m so glad it’s so close to home. Only downside is that it’s cash only but oh well, it’s well worth taking a trip to the ATM for.

I feel like I’ve let you Unilocalers down! :( I tried to go twice now for the Churros and they didn’t have them. My room mate asked them why they haven’t had them and they said that it was because they keep selling out in the day time?(Mind you I get here late in the day around 5PM) I’m going to be making a trip here before noon and see if they have those suckers there. ANDIFTHEYDO I WILLSAVEYOUALLSOME! hehe

I just love this teeny tiny family run bakery. The bolillos are awesome and super cheap. The other baked goods are fresh and plentiful but lack the flavor my gringo tastebuds are accustomed to. I haven’t seen these amazing churros others speak of but I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

I don’t want to do this. But I can’t not write this review. I am just so upset right now. I came here for churros. Samantha N. made them sound amazing. OMFGWTFBBQ amazing. That’s just… really amazing sounding. So I’ve been talking about it all week, pestering Molly to make the long walk there with me. Unfortunately, when we went there, Molly and I scanned fruitlessly for churros amongst the racks of baked goods. None were to be found. I noticed a little, branded glass box where it seems they normally reside. We asked if there were any, but alas, there weren’t. And here I sit, churro-less. That’s all I wanted. So disappointing. So I hate to write this review because I’m sure they’re a struggling but wonderful little bakery for other people. The other reviews here attest to that. But I just left sad. I’ll give it three stars. And since Molly’s little pastry seemed to be just okay to her, maybe that’s fair, after all.

This place is the best! I’ve lived in North Park for over fifteen years and this Panadaria offers the best in authentic Mexican Sweet Breads that I’ve ever had. My favorite secret spot! Don’t forget your coffee!

Yum! Not your American bakery with someone behind the counter pretending to use tissue paper to grab your items. Here you grab a plastic tray and tongs and dig in the bakery cases. Load your tray up with pan dulce, cookies and empanadas. The man at the register will tally it up and bag it for you. Very cheap and very tasty.
