Hipp Marine

These guys were great, I bought parts and products from them for our customers and it always worked out well. You guys should check out this new boat shop in miramar «Perfection Marine Services» which is fairly new. They provide all types of services with work that’s guaranteed.
They have a full parts department and can get you just about anything within a couple days.

CLOSED DOWN April 16, 2015
Per an email sent by the owners Hipp marine has permanently closed down. Here is a quote from the email: «Due to the economic conditions over the past 6 years and inability to renegotiate a lease that Hipp Marine could afford at the „new normal“ my wife and I had to make a very difficult decision to close Hipp Marine down after 27 years in business and serving the community.»

I called Hipp Marine with a couple of questions about their Bayliners. I spoke with Kent Chamberlain, and he was so friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful. Their inventory is huge, but they have amazing new and used boats.
I would recommend Hipp Marine for your next boat purchase.

My fiancé and I recently purchased a used boat from Hipp Marine. After numerous mishaps from an unprofessional salesman, Rick Hipp turned our experience completely around. I had to replace the bellows on my outdrive that was on my Larsen Boat. To make a very long and painful story short, I had talked to the parts manager days prior and he asked for me to come in and talk to the shop manager. So during my scheduled day off, which was Friday 16^th of Aug. my wife and I visited Hipp Marine. We meet with the parts manager and he was very happy to assist me with my problem. He took us to meet the Shop manager and I explain my problem that i was trying to install the out drive back into the bell housing. He instructed me the proper technique to install the outdrive. So today I used the instructed process and to my amazement, the out drive is now installed. Looks like a trip to El Cap to enjoy the labor of the work.
I would like to say that Hipp Marine went out of their way to help me. I highly recommend visiting Hipp Marine for your boating needs. I did not purchase my boat here, but their staff is very friendly and helpful.

We cannot afford to have our boat in non-​working order. Hipp Marine has been our service partner since we bought our boat there in 2003. Wow! This May it will have been 10 years. They’ve not only taken care of our annual maintenance, but have always worked hard and happy to resolve our intermittent engine problems. They are also very proactive about maintenance issues before a problem becomes manifest.
Well, last night we noticed a little bit of oil dripping from the motor. Ken thought perhaps the seal was broken. With a job coming up on Monday we had no time to lose. But the shop was closed. Ken drove the boat to the shop as soon as they opened Saturday morning by chance they could work us in. That was 8 30 a.m. Even though they were super busy, Robert managed to squeeze us in with a smile! We picked up the boat that afternoon all fixed. Yes, the shaft seal was in fact leaking. Boy did we dodge a bullet!
Not to mention, one of the guys had the part in his «for an emergency» box. Or we would have had to wait for an order!
These guys are competent, diligent, work hard to get to the bottom of an issue, and are loyal. You seriously cannot get service like this these days, at least it is far and few between.

It’s nice to finally find a marine service outfitter that I can count on for reliable service, straight answers and follow-​through on their commitments. I fish often and have a bass fishing boat and took it to two other places in Santee and Lakeside before (they are both known as ‘bass boat’ specialists). Well the service at these two ‘other’ companies was an abomination– broken promises, inaccurate delivery dates, excuses, unfriendly, make me feel like I’m a burden for them, misleading, and the list goes on.
I came across Hipp Marine and the experience has been a joy. I will be utilizing them for all my repair needs going forward. As I write this review I’m bummed because Hipp is closed for a week for their holiday break and I actually need something done. So I tried one more time with one of the ‘other guys’ in Lakeside since Hipp is not around, and sure enough the ‘other guy’ managed to screw up yet again.
Sometimes things just aren’t worth the headache and I will now wait to get my boat taken care of properly at Hipp. Thanks for the good service and see you soon.

I came in with a boat issue misdiagnosed from The Boat Grotto (said I needed to replace or rebuild engine). These guys got me in the same day and found the problem (a bad coil) fast. They were able to fix the issue and get me back on the water the same day, without costing me an arm and a leg. The technician took the time to explain some things on my boat I was unfamiliar with (my first boat) and was honest in telling me the condition of my engine. The service guys and tech’s at this place saved my weekend I was able to get back on the water the next day and the boat ran smother than before. Thanks Hipp Marine you guys are awesome.

I would never buy a boat from kent chamberlin at hipp marine -
Since sunday we have changed our mind against hipp marine — on jan 21^st me and my family came to look at a boat and decided on which pontoon and options we wanted, you said it would take a few hours to 1day to get me the best price. You did get me a amazing price but only after I sent you a email on that wednesday asking if you had a price yet, the price was great but the options were wrong. You even told me some options werent available (lifting strake & factory cleats) even though they show that on brochure, so I had to call the boat manufacture to find out what the real deal was, of course they are all avaiable just the like the brochure said. I called you on thursday explaining that I called the factory and I need a new quote with the options that I need. You have gotten me the quote correct but after missing your call and you not returning my call on saturday or sunday like my voicemail requested, we finally decided that we would rather give our order to somebody who wants to sell boats, i’m sure this will cost me at least a few hundred dollars maybe even more but for a man in sales like myself, it is worth it.

Tried to buy a used boat there and got the biggest run around. The Owner of Hipp Marine passed himself off as the broker representing the boat I wanted to buy, but he knew absolutly nothing about the boat, i.e. HP, engine hours, trailer, boat maintenance etc. When I tried to make an offer on the boat; the one thing he knew was, my offer was too low (19% below asking price) and he refused to present my offer to the out of town owner. Finally; when I upped my offer by another 2.5% he begrudgingly presented my offer to the Seller/​Owner of the boat. The seller countered and we finally negotiated a price. They (Hipp Marine) refused to take me and the boat on a test run unless I paid for the boat in full first; incl. tax lic, fees, and etc. What! Buy me first and then we’ll do a test drive. Huh? Not a business friendly enviroment; had to call back many times to get answers to questions and had to drive down there once to corner someone to help me, in my quest to get information about the boat and my offer. They were always too busy to be of assistance. I also called their Newport Beach Branch office to see if anyone there could convince the S. D branch to return my phone calls. They are not even good at half hearted apologies. When we took the boat out for a test run, we had to turn around within a couple of minutes because it was running so bad. Stay away from these guys if you are in the market to buy a used boat. Maybe they will treat you better if you are buying an expensive new boat.

meanwhile for the next 30 mins. a half dozen employees wandered in
and out of the parts dept. I finally left in frustration. There is no way I would
get my boat serviced at this place.

Buying a boat isn’t just a one time deal– there’s service and upkeep. Hipp marine is knowledgeable, nice, reasonable and damn even after the boat is sold they keep up with service.
