Hoop Dance with Unity

I’m taking beginning hooping and it is so much fun! I had no experience and have always admired people who can hoop dance. I wanted to expand my circus trick repertoire and this class has been perfect. I have been able to pick up a bunch of tricks after only 5 classes so far. Valentina is a wonderful teacher and she explains the tricks and methods very clearly. Sometimes tricks go array and my hoop goes flying around the room, but Valentina and all of the other students are really supportive and don’t mind if your hoop goes crashing to the floor. Valentina brings in hoops for us to borrow, which I did for the first few weeks. Finally I made the investment and bought my own hoop and I have been practicing a ton at home. Hooping is addicting– you feel great during and after. Great music too– highly recommended!

I love watching The Hoop Unit’s performances and I also really enjoyed taking Valentina’s hula hoop classes. I did a series of her classes a couple years ago and learned so much from her. She’s an incredible teacher performer and person. Such a fun act to have entertain your party. Highly recommended!

This company is incredible! Educating anyone to an impressive level of ability and doing shows. I’ve seen it help build womens’ self-​confidence, improve their fitness and overall health, and give them a wonderful group of people to hang out with and have FUN every week!

I am thankful to have found Unity’s intermediate hooping class. She is a great teacher, inspiration, and an absolutly amazing performer. She brings many hoopers together of all skill levels through her workshops, hoop jams, and performances. I really enjoy taking her classes and learning the new hoop challenges that she brings to share with all of us. Love this class!

well, honestly, i was ready to leave after the first ten minutes. i thought there’s no way i can keep up. thankfully unity/​valentina is such a patient teacher, she just smiled and told me i’d pick it up. granted, it was a little tough in the beginning, i haven’t been able to do a hula hoop in years, thought it was just my big belly, well that was part of the reason, the other part was that i wasn’t using the correct hoop! after getting a hoop that worked for me, and getting past that first ‘wtf’ ten minutes, i was able to relax and not worry about being the oldest, biggest, clumsiest broad in class. i did it! i loved it and i can’t wait to go back. not only was able to hoop (to the right but also to the left!!) i even learned a few tricks! i bought a hoop so i can practice at home as well. looking forward to this adventure!!! thank you unity/​valentina!!!

I can’t say enough good things about this woman. She has such an easy way of explaining tricks, I feel like I pick them up right away, and if I don’t, she works with me until I do. I tried learning the 3 beat weave for months using youtube videos and couldnt hack it, one class with her and I was weaving like Ali! Love her, love her LOVE HER!

I am SOOOOOO GRATEFUL to have found Unity and her amazing classes!!! She is beyond without a doubt one the best performers and teachers I’ve ever had and I have been taking dance classes from the age of 3!!! I came into her class knowing probably 2 simple basic tricks (hooping around the waist being one of them) and in one class came out with at least 4 new tricks and a lot of inspiration!!! she is so dedicated to her students and her practice, she makes it so fun for everyone! plus its a great workout!!! Unity has changed my outlook of dancing for the better and is a constant inspiration in the dancing community!!! I couldn’t picture a hooping life without her!!! Thank you Unity!!!

I found Unity’s classes as soon as I moved to San Diego 2 years ago, and have been hooked since day 1. We always have SO much fun in class, and I learn at least a few new things every time. She takes the time to make sure that everyone is getting the tricks, or if anyone needs extra attention. I don’t know who this random Unknown person is who had a bad experience, but the classes are NOT always super packed. its usually between 6 – 15 students on average. Unity is confident, talented, generous, and inspiring. She personally inspired me to start performing belly dance and hoop dance on stage — something that I have always shied away from due to my stage fright!

Unity knows how to make hoop dance a fun and creative experience! After attending her beginner classes I become inspired by how much there was to learn! Unity is a great teacher and gives everyone opportunities to try new things and grow. Anyone and everyone can gain a lot from classes with this beautiful and talented performer and teacher!

You know you always wanted to join the circus… After a few classes, you will never want to put your hoop away. Clear the living room floor, put on some Bravo TV, and get ready to hoop. Don’t forget to move your boozy drink (you don’t want to spill). Unity is an awesome teacher. In less than 6 months I’m tossing my hoop and shaking my hips.
She’s very patient and I’ve seen her teach the most uncoordinated folks how to do it. She also makes fantastic hoops. For those more experienced hoopers, her travel hoop is FANTASTIC.
Perfect for the circus freak in all of us.

Be prepared to have a lot of fun and feel great. Hooping is something ANYone can do… yep even if you’re as uncoordinated as me, it doesn’t take long to learn some cool tricks and look graceful doing them. And did I mention it’s a FUN way to burn colories?! Even if you’ve never hooped before, there are hoops to borrow or to buy in class. I definitely recommend taking Hoop Dance with Unity!
